  1. Well its started
President Obama: “This is going to be difficult; it’s going to require bipartisan cooperation. There are going to be demagogues out there who try to suggest that any form of pathway for legalization for those who are already in the United States is unacceptable. And those are fights that I’d have to have if my poll numbers are at 70 or if my poll numbers are at 40.”
    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/08/14/obama_those_against_pathway_for_legalization_are_demagogues.html

  2. Why the hell does this idiot keep calling for “bipartisan cooperation”? He’s got complete control of everything, and the Republicans can’t stop him. So why does he need their cooperation? Is it so he can’t be held solely responsible?

  3. pete – it’s accountability. When it inevitably fails, he’d like there to be guilty parties on both sides.

  4. Hacker says he went to the London School of Economics with the Israeli ambassador. Does this imply that he’s a Labour politician? I had the idea that his party was never specified.

  5. I see Obamadamadingdong has apointed his Fairness Doctrine Czar. How long until the fight to keep right of center talk radio from colapseing?
They could be at the very bottom of the polls and still drive the Socialist bus down the United States throat.
    This is disgusting.

  6. Obama’s Health Care Czar….John Holdren aka WINGNUT
“Dr. Holdren has stated flatly that he does not now support and has never supported compulsory abortions, compulsory sterilization, or other coercive approaches to limiting population growth,” the statement said. “Straining to conclude otherwise from passages treating controversies of the day in a three-author, 30-year-old textbook is a mistake.”

If I was being generous I would give him the benefit of the doubt since he wrote this stuff in the 70’s. But CahMON!
    Makes me cringe.

  7. I’m d*mn sure there are no “czars” provided for in the Constitution. How many is he up to now?

  8. wow Tomax7, we almost missed that one… thanks. actually, a passerby on that Red Deer pathway says “hello Andy” I always like to see that friendly spirit alive in Alberta.
er… taught him everything you know? 😉

  9. tigerpants – the link is to a slideshow – no info.Below is a link to Holdrens views, I’ve copied some of his comments.
He states that “sterilizing women after their second or third child” may be more practicable than sterilizing men and proposes a “long-term sterilizing capsule that could be implanted under the skin” at puberty and then “might be removable, with official permission, for a limited number of births.”
He queried: “Why should the law not be able to prevent a person from having more than two children?”
He wrote “that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution. [N]either the Declaration of Independence nor the Constitution mentions a right to reproduce.”

  10. Shepard Fairey, the guy who created the Obama “Hope” poster, was intereviewed about the Joker “Socialism” poster. (I had forgotten that Fairey had stolen that photo image from an AP photographer)
Of course, Fairey is keenly upset by the Joker poster, and states that he has doubts about the person’s intelligence, because it should be “Socialist”, not “Socialism”.
In the comments, a few people point out that the now iconic image should therefore be labelled “Hoper”.
    Too funny.
    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/08/obama-joker-shepard-fairey.html
Again, the comments are so discordant from the general perception that Obama is so well-loved . . . . .

  13. Democratic Party … Social Democratic Party of Canada … by any other name the NDP are parasites on the body politic of Canada … and Jack Layton’s a mini-czar living high off the hog on our dime.
I’ve noticed, roaming the republics of Europe, that without royalty, socialist governments form their own hierarchies and secular monarchies, often worse than what they’re replacing. G*d help Canada if the NDP, Democratic Party, Social Democratic Party of Canada, whatever, ever gets into power. They’re enough of a millstone around our neck with only 19% of the vote.

  14. Anyone wondering what the Liberals, with the help of their coalition partners, could possibly attempt to trigger an election on? After EI what’s left aside from desperation for power by an as yet policy free, almost invisible Liberal leader?
Perhaps they could try to use the Kid Khadr case as a trigger. It seems to be of the greatest concern to Bob Rae, wannabe next leader of the Liberals. They’re wrapping themselves in the
Trudeau Charter which the Court is obliged to follow and apply, no thinking required.

  15. Liz j- it’s a truism that the only focus and I mean the only focus, of the Liberals, has been on regaining power. No interest in policies and programs for the benefit of Canadians. None. Just a focus on what ‘hot pop issues’ can be used to motivate a call for an election and a return to political power.
This power, of course, is for themselves, for the ‘pork’ of the tax money, which they feel quite free to use for themselves. Because they are ‘entitled to their entitlements’.
Then, there’s the Rae-Ignatieff power struggle which can’t be ignored. Rae is home-grown; Ignatieff is the Outsider-Returned-to-Fix-Things. Ahh, Odysseus. If only…
It’s astonishing to read and hear the Liberal MSM which has had only this one focus since Harper’s elections..’When’s the election’. The most recent breathless questions began right after the October 2008 election: ‘When’s the election’. And of course, there was that attempt at a coup, which was the most vicious attack on our democracy in our history.
My guess is that they’ll try for what they assume are the popular items..eg..Khadr and other bleeding heart themes. I also speculate that apart from the Big City Liberals and Latte crowd, that most Canadians aren’t interested in these issues. They are interested in the economy, in jobs, in safe and secure lives. Period.

  16. Touche, ET. That’s the Liberal “agenda” in a nutshell: a return to power so they can bleed the rest of us dry and resume their high-off-the-hog lifestyles.
Libranos is the most accurate moniker for these shysters.

Hi No-One. If you go to the link I posted and use the toggle buttons on the top of the pictures you can flip through th slideshow and read the information to the right of photo. Photo four mentions the forced abortion propostion that you referenced.
I went to the link you posted and it reaffirmed what Fox posted on their site.
Did you catch the segment in the lifenews article on the Planetary Regime?
Holdren writes that “a comprehensive Planetary Regime could control the development, administration, conservation, and distribution of all natural resources, renewable or nonrenewable. The Planetary Regime might be given responsibility for determining the optimum population for the world and for each region and for arbitrating various countries’ shares within their regional limits.”
    The Fox article says:
Holdren has degrees from MIT and Stanford and won the unanimous approval in the Senate to be the president’s chief science adviser, but some of his controversial early writings may have escaped the senators’ notice.
    Huh-ya THINK???
Does anyone read or research anymore?? FAK!
Hmmmm….I wonder if you could go and pull library records to determine who has checked out Holdren’s earlier works including what is being referenced here from his 1977 work called “Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment.”
Hell Obama probably has a signed copy that he keeps next to his bed for some nice light reading before he drifts off to sleep.

  18. Liz, ET
I believe the attack will be Economy based, they will attack the Govt’s/PM’s performance or weakness’s in the down turn, EG: Use the excuse that Stimulus monies are not flowing quick enough, monies allocated But projects sitting in limbo,(of course we all know you dont build a bridge or road or arena overnight without proper planning & procedure) So in other words the liberal/ndp/bloq will only attack the allocations & holdups which are not creating Jobs. They will use the National Jobless numbers in their ads, They will give the impression that the EI compromise effort is just Tory act & the torys are stalling all efforts by the liberals & they will not work with the liberals.
the Liberals are going to use the amount of stimulus monies to work against the tory’s & finaly they will use the back to deficit on the tory watch.
So the liberals must strike Now before their is full economic recovery as they know Canadians will view the Govts performance as good to excellent to bring us through turbulant times & will give approval at the polls.
*I strongly also believe that in the event of a Liberal minority win I think you will see the Resurection of the Coalition with atleast the NDP. You will see NDP mp’s in the cabinet therefore creating the much needed
Majority with a deal of No election call for the full term, No possible reneging the contract.
This of course all depends on the numbers acheived I think the liberals want to avoid a deal as much as possible with the Bloq.

  19. Giggles has written a column that suggests that Ignatieff’s summer tour is not going smoothly as hoped. This comment in the piece got my attention. “And half the people didn’t get to touch him, they wanted to shake his hand. He had no choice in the matter.” That is creepy.

  20. bryanr – that’s an interesting scenario. It relies, however, on a number of factors over which the Liberals have little control.
The economy – and it IS starting to pull up. Admittedly, I may be very ‘out of touch’ as I don’t listen to or watch any Canadian news or read any Canadian newspapers. I simply gloss over the online Star, Globe and Post – but don’t read any comments or editorials in the first two.
I’m not sure that the ‘stimulus is not flowing fast enough’ is a strong argument. Remember, the Liberals/NDP have voice both an insistence that there BE a stimulus package, and an insistence that there be NO stimulus package..because it incurs a deficit. It’s great having life operate both ways!
Certainly, if the Liberals were in power, they’d could make an alliance with the NDP, but that would be politically disastrous. It would show clearly, that they are not merely left, but socialist left. A lot of centralists in Canada wouldn’t like that. And if they didn’t announce such intentions in the election-period, if they made such a move after the election- it would possibly be received with great anger.
And the Bloc wouldn’t like being marginalized and removed from its important ‘lynch-pin’ role in parliament.
I don’t see any need for an election. It is remarkable how the MSM talks and writes and thinks of nothing else. No interest in Canada. Just power.

  23. ET i agree with your assements
however you touch on a couple of things that happen all the time and quite often sway how Canadians make a final decision as to who to vote for.
You said you Gloss over the online, This is what alot of people do They read the headline which is as you & I have stated on numerous times on here are Very Misleading the MSM slants or as we have seen recently Invents the news. The articles are not read in full, Only us politics junkies look at the whole thing.
So therefore the rumor mill multiplies and the damage has been created, people talk in the coffee shops, Did you read what the Govt is doing or what the PM did that evil Harper ……. Do you see what iam saying.
The people do not talk about the Rebuttals only the rumor.
The liberals play on the fears of canadians they create the illusion of Nasty Conservatives and they have been using the stimulus to demise Flaherty & the PM at every turn with the MSM’s help. We all know that the Liberals are 2 faced liar’s but like i said illusions, smoke & mirrors.
I do believe a deal will be struck with the NDP, The liberals have been infiltrated for years with former high profile provincial NDP’rs i do believe that we are going to see an association of some sort. The NDP is even meeting this weekend to discuss the dropping of “New” and going with Democratic Party. What better way to say see we are kissing cousins of the liberals we could work together. I think politics in Canada are about to take a dramatic change I think we are going to see more Left Vs Right, No centre. Have you ever noticed how the Liberals & Ndp use the word Ideology & Neocon alot In other words to paint a image of Far Right wing, Red necks, knuckledraggers(Bob Fife), Even Nazi’s.
But anyways ET thats some of my theories as wacky as they are iam sure,
ET have a great weekend iam at work so better earn my keep, Always a pleasure to converse political thoughts with you And i always respect your opinions in the highest regard.

  25. tigerpants – thanks for the post and yes I did do some of the reading about his Planetary Regime did you know he co-wrote his 77′ piece with Paul Ehrlich who wrote the Population Bomb in the 68 and put out a revised Population Bomb in 95′ Ehrlich in his population Bomb actually proposed in his 1968 version that drinking water contain agents to cause infertility! Seriously. Paul Ehrlich won a Nobel Prize.
Bizarre Gaia worship. “The aim is to phase out the human race by voluntarily [?] ceasing to breed. Thereby allowing the Earth’s biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense. Their motto–’May we live long and die out.’ Les Knight of VHEMT avows 2, 3– “ No matter what you’re doing to improve life on planet Earth, I think you’ll find that phasing out the human race will increase your chance of success.”

  29. In the LA Times blog piece Erik linked to above, Shepard Fairey, the artist who created the famous “Hope” poster of Obama says, of the artist who made the “Joker” poster of Obama, “I have my doubts about the person’s intelligence.”
Fairey admits that the artwork is good, in that it gets a point across quickly, but, “a lot of these things are fueled by frustration. Maybe they’re frustrated and don’t understand the whole situation.” Whereas his own artworks that portrayed Bush in a negative light were “fueled by a very clear understanding of what’s going on…”

  30. There’s website called MoveOn.org — should be called “nothing to see here folks, now move along.org” whose “Top Five Health Care Reform Lies — and How to Fight Back” are constantly sprayed, verbatim and often unattributed, across the left-o-sphere. Here’s one of their “Truths”:
Lie #1: Democrats are going to outlaw private insurance and force you into a government plan!!!
The truth: With Reform, choices will increase, not decrease…”
    (etc)
The “lie” and the “truth” are mislabeled — inverted. One of the provisions in the bill is a prohibition on insurance companies forbidding them to deny coverage to anyone with a pre-existing medical condition. But since insurance companies are — obviously — businesses, and not government-mandated providers of medical services, that particular provision means private insurance companies will be forced to compete with a government plan endlessly funded with money confiscated from taxpayers. It would be kind of a replay of the forced-loans BS, in that it would require a business (an industry) built on a careful model to smash that model for social justice reasons, at which point big government moves in.
The statement that people will be free to keep their private insurer might be true on the thin greasy surface, but it’s a brutally disingenuous falsehood just barely beneath. From American Thinker:
“Let’s now turn to Sec 111, Prohibiting Pre-existing Conditions Exclusions, Sec 113 Insurance Rating Rules, Sec 116 Ensuring Value and Lower Premiums and Sec 121 Coverage of Essential Benefits. These and other mandates such as cost sharing limitations and bans on lifetime maximum out-of-pocket deductibles or co-pays have the apparent design to improve accessibility and availability of private insurance plans. But we already know these types of mandates will render private plans economically non-viable, as insurance premiums would be priced off the charts so no one individual or company could afford to buy coverage or underwrite a group plan. Of course the real story is that no company would choose to voluntarily subscribe to such extraordinary plan provisions and the costs they entail. Many company sponsored comprehensive plans today carry costs as a percent to payroll of around 10 to 20%. These new mandates and coverage rules would double those costs, easily convincing the vast majority of company CFOs to abandon health care plans altogether, opting for the penalty box which is only 8% of payroll. How to get 100 million Americans into a single payer plan within three years if not sooner? Connect the dots.”

I’ve heard people muse that the Winter Olympics may have something to do with the Liberals urgency.
While all of this talk of why and when is an election necessary, I personally think it’s a moot point. Whether it’s 2009, 2010, 2011 or an election each year, I still pose the same question I’ve posed before:
Does anyone doubt that a Liberal or Liberal/NDP government intent on harming western Canadians and their economy is eminent?

“Ottawa memorial marks soldiers’ Hong Kong sacrifice
A monument honouring Canada’s veterans of the Battle of Hong Kong was formally unveiled in Ottawa on Saturday.
The granite-sheathed memorial bears the names of some 2,000 men who fought for 17 days against a massive Japanese invasion of the then-British colony; survivors were held as prisoners of war from 1941 until 1945.
Saturday’s unveiling took place on the 64th anniversary of VJ-Day, the end of the Pacific campaign of the Second World War.
“Their sacrifice has made a difference,” Padre Alain Monpas told the assembled crowd of veterans, soldiers, families, friends and dignitaries.
“We’re here today because we have a solemn responsibility to remember,” Veterans Affairs Greg Thompson said.
The soldiers being remembered had been sent in the autumn of 1941 to bolster the defences of Hong Kong against a possible Japanese attack.
Only about 90 of the men are still alive. A handful were able to attend the dedication. They were part of C Force — the Royal Rifles of Canada, the Winnipeg Grenadiers and a brigade headquarters — which arrived in Hong Kong on Nov. 16, 1941.”
