  1. You know, all cheeses taste more faithfully when brought to room temperature before studied injestion, yet I remain surprised by the degree to which Glenphilly (just now is my first tasting, I acquired it this morning) opens up upon warming. It’s probably the atypical aromatic esters, eh what? And you know what’s extra special about Glenphilly… it pisses off both the cheese snobs, and the whiskey snobs, at the same time! That’s wonderful.

  2. Cute video, nice music. Never tried Ovaltine (or benzedrine), but I used to wake up gay before somebody hijacked the word gay.
Re: the cheese; do you live in a place where you can actually procure that stuff? If not, could you recommend a substitute?
Re: the time stamp(12.01); are you falsifying your time card to accrue extra pay from SDA?

  3. You can search for any cheese via an engine like Google, Glasnost, and can often find a vendor (for example, Neal’s Yard in England sells a number of my favourite cheeses, internationally), but basically what you want to do is to look up “Cheese” in your Yellow Pages or in said pages in your nearest largish city. Personally, I shop at Paddy’s International Cheese Market in Edmonton, where I have access to a lovely selection of about 300 various cheeses, depending on the season.

  4. Speaking of cheesey, did anyone watch Kevin Newman sneering while reporting that an Alberta Government minister was caught suggesting in a speech to some group that one parent staying at home to look after the children was the best of possible situations?
The lady in question was almost in tears after the verbal abuse she received from various media and women’s groups.

  5. Love the idea of Scotch Cheese. I had a job for awhile where people sent me food from all over the world to taste. Some of the cheese that would land on my doorstep was amazing. Wine, brandy, herb, nut etc. Unfortunately the best cheese is slowly being outlawed in Europe and will never make its way over here. The laws in Canada would also prohibit people from making really good cheese.

  6. Now, be careful, Gord, far from being prohibited, in some cases the best cheese is being mandated in Europe. I can’t say I’m particularly in favour of that, either. I mean, let the market decide. I’m just saying: as goes man, so goes cheese, and dogs. You don’t believe me? Oh yeah? Well, you just ask my dog about cheese, and she’ll tell you, then, eh what!

  7. but I used to wake up gay before somebody hijacked the word gay.
Maybe it’s time to ‘jack it back.
Notice they’re trying to hijack “pride” too.
Pride in my vocabulary will NEVER mean a bunch of fruit-loops prancing down the street.

  9. Iggy, the I-Iggy Liberal Putzel, er Pretzel.
*”Liberal loquacity, once let out the gate, has a nightmarish way of never shutting itself up.”
Iggy blabbed, blustered, and blinked 3 times; I-Iggy the Pretzel.
In contrast, MacDonald (cited above) says PM Harper:
“*A Conservative Instance”: “… last week, he [PM Harper] was both subtle and subdued in his response to Iggy’s request for a meeting he never asked for. Harper decided to play out the sequence off camera,”.
As MacDonald (cited above) proves, here, hear, here, hear is I-Iggy:
“*Ideologues of every stripe not only can explain – they in fact eagerly leap from the start to explain – who they take themselves to be and in what, passionately, they believe. The passion counts more for them than the specific content of any belief, but the themes, such as equality and tolerance, are consistent.”

  10. Isn’t it incredible how our MSM, both on TV and in the press, has only one endless concern – When’s an election.
This constant refrain, daily, endlessly, has been their focus since Harper’s election. Their rejection of him and the CPC as government, as a ‘blip’ in the normal state of Canadian affairs, is obvious. Their focus is on when will The Normal and Correct Government be Returned?
So, it’s daily talk and speculation about ‘how soon is the election’. They ignore all issues for their relevance and importance to Canada. They focus only on IF that issue will spark an election. When the Liberals were in power, such an obsessive focus was absent.

  11. “At the 65th Annual Radio and Television Correspondents Association Dinner last night, President Barack Obama openly acknowledged that mainstream journalists are to be credited with making him a celebrity and even joked that an NBC news anchor is in bed with him.
“Why bother hanging out with celebrities when I can spend time with the people who made me one?” Obama asked the crowd of black tie journalists and media personalities gathered at the Washington Convention Center. “I know where my bread is buttered…”
“Obama also treaded on political thin ice with critics of the government’s takeover of the auto industry, laughing about nonchalantly giving away car companies.
Crediting a new “plan” for fixing the auto industry to friend Oprah Winfrey, Obama quipped, “If each of you will look under your seat, you will find that you get a car company. You get a car company. And Fox, you get AIG. Enjoy!”
Some of Obama’s other jokes found critics in the audience itself, including a dud about Rahm Emanuel and a crack about the floundering fortunes of media companies, a joke that elicited groans and perhaps even boos from the assembled members of the press”…

  12. air show today.
the A-10s were flying in formation to promote the show and the weather got its act together from yesterday’s rain (either way I win, this is just the thing to get the pole beans on their way reaching higher and higher. kinda like all those aircraft). I’ve been to enough airshows now I recognize them by sight and the sound of the engines. Warthogs have an ominous distictive background whine.
I remember being about 5 or 6, my daddy took us all to the airport when there was a gravel road at the end of the runway accessible to the public. it must have been a B-17 about 200′ up going full throttle. my little body shook from the sound; the experience stayed with me for years after, I would dream about it well into my adolescence.
I once let a neighbor use my garage to store a partly completed kit plane whilst he was moving. when they sold the place and got all packed he took me up in a 2-seater open cockpit biplane and we flew over my place, I even saw the wheel barrow left in the backyard.
where was I . . . oh ya, gotta get going, get ahead of the traffic.

  13. The war/killing among Muslims continues in Iran, aka Persia.
This internal Muslim war is a war between two versions of Islam.
On one side, the Arab version of Islam; on the other side, the Persian version of Islam.
The Arabs subjugated the non-Muslim Persians centuries ago and imposed the Arab version of Islam on the Persians.
The Persians are now attempting to throw off the Arab version of Islam while retaining their own version of Islam.
Iran will remain Islamic when the end-game is played out.

” [I] don’t want to go there, Craig,”.
“”What I’m concerned about is to see whether it’s possible, with a government with whom I”.
“”We’re not going to go on and on forever here,” Ignatieff said. “This thing has a fixed deadline. We must achieve results for the Canadian people. If we can’t then we’re going to have to reassess the situation.””

  17. ET: “Isn’t it incredible how our MSM, both on TV and in the press, has only one endless concern – When’s an election.”
Yeah, ET, it’s all Liberal, all the time. I seldom see a headline simply stating what Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his government are doing; he and the CPC are referenced only in relation to The Iggster or the LPC.
The fact that the members of the media don’t even recognize their incessant lop-sided, partisan coverage is evidence of their complete capitulation to interference in the political process on the side of one party only.
The MSM is an unelected disloyal Opposition which does a great disservice to a vibrant, accountable democracy. They disgust me … and then they wonder why they aren’t being watched or their papers aren’t being bought.

  18. While we are on the subject of our media and their search for journalistic excellence,Question Period took a page out of the cbc handbook today. Craig O opened the show with the question,”Who came out on top in this week’s showdown in Parliament”? Well, who better to answer this, than Michael Ignatieff himself. Ten minutes of Mikey talking about his glorious accomplishments and that segment was over. No opposing point of view, just Mikey and Craggy, smiling and nodding at each other as they thrashed the Conservatives.

  19. Pursuant to my above post.A highly placed source in the liberal party says that he overheard Mikey say to Craig before the taping, ” If my eloquent prose and handsome visage are not enough, take one of these little blue pills about an hour before we start”. To which Craig replied ” Hey,I know what these are,Jane gives me the same thing every Friday”.And the liberal love-in continued.

  20. Cal2…that Ross sister video has been posted before…by Vitruvius as part of his gig, if I remember correctly. Amazing contortions.
Wallyj, I watched a portion of Question Period with my dad that you referenced. We both guffawed as we listened to Iggy the Intellectual say that Canada is the best performing country in the G8 due to the LIBERALS KEEPING THE GOVERNMENT IN CHECK!
Not even the mildest of challenges came from Oliver…he just suggested that maybe Iggy was being “too intellectual”.
    How blatant! How pathetic!

  21. Here’s some of the story noted by Brent @ 12:07 p.m., June 21:
“A seven-month investigation by the Ontario Human Rights Commission concluded that the Manitoba Human Rights Commission was wrong when it refused to acknowledge that one of its former investigator’s medical condition constituted a disability.”
Wow … you can’t make this stuff up!
“[X] said that the stress of his job led to high blood pressure and the prescribed medication to treat the condition made it difficult for him to stay awake or alert at work.”
And this stress arose before the denormalizing campaign began!
“At the end of October, [OHRC legal director Hart] Schwartz concluded that [X] had been discriminated against because the bosses at the MHRC were relying on an out-dated definition of what constitutes a medical disability when it refused his requests for a reduced workload and forced him to quit his job.”
“Schwartz said that [X]’s medical condition makes it impossible for him to continue as an investigator but he said the MHRC had failed to offer [X] another position at the commission or help him find another job within the Manitoba civil service.”
“‘In Ontario, an employee with a disability is supposed to be placed in a pool and they are to be looked to first when a vacant job becomes available which they may be capable of performing’, Schwartz wrote.”
“[X] has now asked the Ontario Human Rights Commission to refer the dispute to a court-like proceeding known as a tribunal.”
    Sometimes satire just writes itself!
