  3. In another amazingly Orwellian twist of the language, Americans are now “free” to pay for research on human embryos with their federal tax dollars, whether they like it or not.
    I’m not particularly disturbed by the use of “leftover” embryos from fertility clinics for research, IF they are freely donated by their parents and IF no money changes hands in their use. I mean, if they don’t get used up in research they go down the sink, right? So no downside I can see.
    However! Lots of people violently disagree. I see no reasonable argument being put forth where these people should be forced to pay for something they consider an abomination. Not in a free country anyway.
    I guess The One isn’t all that interested in the freedom of people he doesn’t like, eh?
    Now get back to work cranking out those income tax dollars and shut up.

    When (not if) he goes below the 50% mendoza line his presidency is finished. Look for many MSM players to sharpen their criticism as much of the more conservative dems are looking to get out from under this guy just as the GOP wanted to get out from under McCarthy (dewey led the charge behind the scenes apparently). My money is on tip o’neill disciple Chris Matthews to break ranks first.

  18. bluetech – exactly. FOX has been pointing out that Bush didn’t cut off funding for stem cell research but for living embryo stem cell research. Placental stem cell has been funded for some time and produced excellent results.
    But, if you listen to the ‘regular’ news, you won’t hear this important, indeed, vital distinction.

Bluetech: Bear also in mind that the only funding cut off was FEDERAL — any other institution (Harvard, e.g., with its huge endowment)could fund embryonic stem cell research to its heart’s content. Also, federal research was actually ongoing regarding certain specific embryonic stem cell lines at the time the ban was imposed, and the ban did not discontinue that research nor require that it be torn up or buried, a point that the Left conveniently forgets every time this issue arises. That research has continued, with Federal funding, throughout the Bush administration. It just could not expand beyond the limited group of stem cell lines that it started with, a restriction which sent the Left into an uncontrollable rage apparently. There is no end to their hypocrisy, and their memories are a Moebius strip whenever it suits them.

You know, like risking your life as a fighter pilot and then being shot down and held captive for 5 and half years, where you are tortured and held in solitary confinement for two years, all the time refusing offers of release because they refuse to release all the other prisoners with you. Then when you get home you suffer years of grueling physiotherapy but never fully recover the full use of your limbs. But you do receive the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, and Navel Commendation Medal.
    Stuff like that.

  36. Speaking of heroic images, apparently the Wikipedia web page on The Hero, Obama, is being watched over by..whoever. Any time a whisper is put in about Obama’s long, long relation with the militant anti-American Rev. Wright, or the terrorist Ayers..in two minutes, that reference is removed.

    cbailey, please read A Tale of Two Resumes which ET linked to in an earlier thread. The man has done nothing of note since Harvard (and possibly not much there, either) – 20 years is plenty of “chance”. Only in the stock market is past performance not an indicator of future performance.

    Let’s see, as a person who comes from an area where women commonly hunt and fish, and who admired Sara Palin, and who occasionally can be seen at church, I would like to say that Obama ran a campaign demonizing us. He ran a campaign that was based on hate for our kind, and I am pretty sure you shared in that hate. He has weekly hates against everybody from Joe the Plumber to Jim Kramer. How many people can Obama and his ministry of hate gin up hatred for before we start returning the favor.
    See if you can get this through your stupid head: Obama ran a campaign of hate against half the country, then expects us to fall in line like conquered peasants. Dream on.
