  1. So the question is….
Are tornadoes in Canada the result of an “overspill” of American greed and avarice, or is it directly the result of the Conservatives holding power in government?
Bush really is to blame for everything, right?

  2. So … to get really rich, we should all move to Tornado Alley in Oklahoma?
I’d recommend building underground bunker-type houses and avoiding mobile homes.

  3. Tornadoes are spawned when a few atmospheric conditions come together.
Cold air flooding southward and mixing with hot humid carribean air is one ingredient.
Warm the arctic air some (as summer does) and you take away a main ingredient for tornatic activity in tornado alley.
Since the warmonger Kyoto crowd itself claims the arctic’s temperature will rise more than the south – presto less tornadoes !
Less !!?? Yup, less. But that would not be a good fear mongering headline and so they just lie.

  4. tornadoes are obviously a renewal.

President “Bobby”: Mr. Gardner, do you agree with Ben, or do you think that we can stimulate growth through temporary incentives?
    [Long pause]
Chance the Gardener: As long as the roots are not severed, all is well. And all will be well in the garden.
    President “Bobby”: In the garden.
Chance the Gardener: Yes. In the garden, growth has it seasons. First comes spring and summer, but then we have fall and winter. And then we get spring and summer again.
    President “Bobby”: Spring and summer.
    Chance the Gardener: Yes.
President “Bobby”: Then fall and winter.
    Chance the Gardener: Yes.
Benjamin Rand: I think what our insightful young friend is saying is that we welcome the inevitable seasons of nature, but we’re upset by the seasons of our economy.

  5. Ron in Kelowna: absolutely correct.
Tornadoes come from supercell thunderstorms, which are nothing more than small-scale-model frontal systems. To produce them, you don’t just need heat, you need temperature differences (the definition of a front). If you warm the entire earth, then no more and no fewer tornadoes occur. Further, if you believe the warm-mongers, it’s the Arctic that will see the most heating, so the temperature difference will be less. The result: fewer tornadoes. And that would suck to a storm chaser like me. 😉

  6. I also seem to recall the AGW folks predicting wide spread droughts and desertification of the Midwest. But today, I see 2 *MILLION* acres of soybeans won’t be planted, and millions more acres of corn won’t go in either, because it’s too wet, and too late. Wonder what that’s going to do to the price of tortillas and ethanol?
And one more piece of anecdotal evidence: we have a cottage on the shore of Lake Champlain. It was built in the 1920’s, and the building is about 15-20 feet above lake level. Some 20 feet from the front porch are four concrete steps that lead down to the beach. These steps have weathered every winter for 8 decades with no obvious signs of wear.
This year, we came down to find the winter ice had not only moved some massive basalt boulders (about 5′ by 4′ by 3′- approximately 3 tons) 20 to 30 feet, it had also crushed up the concrete steps. Up and down the lake, concrete jetties and piers that had been there for years were either broken or damaged, or in some cases, completely destroyed.
So far, the AGW people have predicted higher sea levels (hasn’t happened), more hurricanes (hasn’t happened), lower lake levels (hasn’t happened), higher temps (hasn’t happened), and milder winters (hasn’t happened). Gee, with a track record like that, they must be right!

  7. Why USA and Canada are not watch their enviroment disasters such as torndados floods etc
the industy check automobile check and jungle and animal grow in balance
this environment can prevnet USA an Canda
save money ifthey putmore money to research and preven and while thos new scinec interfer in change in global warming this can be fix
look at CNN how manyhouse and life and damage especially America has
then fix it and this need to fix in all countries global team work not one country does and otehr ignore it include china
this may work if all countries work togethernot America alone
problmes in USA always being bad weather next week to Canada
then human are link for survival first

  8. “Further, if you believe the warm-mongers,”
Johann I should believe the folk who say that if Manitoba was as warm as North Dakota we would all die because North Dakota is too hot for human life?
Never mind if we got as warm as India or Brazil, where it’s too hot for people to live because they have populations far smaller than Canada,…

  9. Ok then, if in fact it is MONEY which attracts tornadoes, would it then follow that bankers live in trailer parks?
This might explain a lot. I think I need a research grant.

  10. Planet saviors hit the summer festival circuit.
    MY INVITATION:
    Dear Friends,
Awesome event for the whole family!!!
Two Fest “‘TAKE BACK THE PLANET’” at the Port Theatre June 19th (Thursday)
MC’s Guy Dauncey and Kathryne Molloy PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR FRIENDS!!
    What is TwoFest?
TwoFest is a global-roots, collaborative event in three locations
(Victoria, Nanaimo, Vancouver). It goes beyond the 3 R’s. It ramps up a
    ‘social pressure’ to get involved.
Music is our medium. The environment is our message. In particular, our
focus, is easy-access action that can quickly reduce household carbon
    footprints.
Featured artists are: MimosA- a fresh, young, and wild flamenco-rock
group. Naseem – a youthful Persian violinist, Monique Salez- a passionate
vibrant flamenco dancer, Zinnia- a pop songstress with global roots and Dr
Atomic – he will zap it with some techno-funk! Let it simmer and you have
got an explosive recipe for taking back the planet!
    Tickets are $19.50
    MY REPLY:
    A couple of questions.
    * Take back the planet from whom?
    * Once it is taken back, if that’s even possible, what are we to do with it?
    * How did whomever has the planet now, get it in the first place?
    * What exactly are they doing with it that we apparently don’t like?
    * Once those whom we are taking the planet from realize that we may be taking it from them, what will they do about that?
    * Whose idea is this anyway?
    * Has anyone considered the Chinese in this matter? Or India? Or Brazil?
Reality check: Global warming is a front for tax grab and climate change is natural. Resistance iS futile, we must simply adapt without paying off our betters to ease our guilt about simply being alive on planet earth.
I suggest not shutting down economies to create the illusion that gaia is a paradise where we can all just frolic in the garden with no industry or production of goods and services. Unless you have a way of reducing the population of the planet by about 80% nothing much will change. We all like to eat and own stuff.
If the Al Gores and David Suzukis of the world have their way, we will all be eating a lot less and owning nothing. Sounds like North Korea to me! I prefer the unequal distribution of wealth where everyone has a shot a success and those who are willing to work hard will win. I can handle a bit of bad weather and a bit of pollution if it means lots of food, shelter and the creature comforts we have all become accustomed to.
I reject the notion of becoming a climate slave and member of a collective that acts in the illusion of the greater good. We have all seen that in action and we have all seen it kill millions, destroy the human spirit, crush viable economies and destroy cultures. I cite the Soviet Union, Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela to name a few.
Feel free to pass this message along with the other to be fair and balanced.
    Lastly,
I don’t commute to work. Wife works five minutes from home. Our car is small. Our home is run on hydro electric energy only. We don’t travel much. We own no toys, boats, RVs etc. We are small consumers, we have no polluting children, we buy as much organic food as possible and very little processed food. Our carbon foot print in quite small. It is not to save the planet, but rather to save us money. We don’t need additional green taxes to make us stop consuming. All that needs to be done is tighten up credit and people will stop buying stuff. How the hell do you think they are spending now … on credit … money they don’t have. The cost of living is so high that no one can afford to be wasteful anymore.
The natural forces of market and nature don’t need our help. Just our cooperation.
Although, I am aware that collective bitching about imagined problems can make for good parties and festivals. So have fun.
    Thanks,
    John
