Fueling The Bulldozers

“My gas sales were down 30 percent last year,” Vazquez said. “People will come into the store and buy groceries, but they tell me they won’t buy gas from Citgo.”

The Citgo boycott is sure to be mitigated should current sabre-rattling from Chavez be converted a into full-fledged invasion of Colombia. Declared enemies of American’s allies can always count on the support of their friends on the American left – they’ll line up to fill their tanks for Hugo. Citgo will do just fine.

  1. We’d better send money over there quick! I smell a new war and the lefties are dropping like flies. Iraq is yesterday’s news and boring as hell (no pun intended) time for some fresh MSM over breakfast.

  2. me thinks hugo is huffing and puffing, be funny if he over steps and winds in a war he could looz big time, Bush would luv to wack the blithering fool:-))))

  3. Not an organized boycott, just a good old fashioned consumer shift in preference. Kinda nice to see it work like that.

  4. PLEASE, it is COLOMBIA, the country, not Columbia, the province, the university or the era!!!
It is as I predicted before. Chavez thinks he is the new Simon Bolivar, and wants to resurrect Gran Colombia (Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia).
    Uribe is fighting back: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7277313.stm
Colombian President Alvaro Uribe says he will ask the International Criminal Court to bring genocide charges against President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.

  5. I drive by many a Citgo Station here in Michigan. Their prices are generally 2 or 3 cents cheaper than the station next door, but there is no freakin’ way I will stop and buy gas from that socialist SOB Chavez. I was here and I was awake when Chavez came to the US and called George Bush “the devil”. I’m happy to pay a couple more cents a gallon rather than support that moron.

  6. The tin-pot,communist street urchin,Hugo Chavez invade Colombia?
Militarily,Venezuela is out numbered 5 to 1,as well as having nothing but old, wornout soviet-era Com-bloc equipment.
That will be one short war.
    Go for it Hugo!
If you survive,we can watch you get released from Prison 20 years from now, like that other rat-faced bastard from Panama,Manuel Noriega.

  7. Not only have I stopped buying gas from the one Citgo station in town, I’m proud to say I’ve been able to get two friends to do likewise.
I also don’t buy gas from Lukoil, formerly owned by the Russian Mafia, then renationalized by Czar Vladimir of the KGB Dynasty now ruling Russia.

  8. No prison for Hugo necessary – Just turn him over to his public like they did Saddam.

  9. The line up of lefties may be shorter than you think. After all, don’t most of them ride bikes and drive hybrids or take transit?
What a quandry this will be for them…

  10. Straight up military Chavez haven’t got a prayer against Colombia. Not only have the Colombia gotten good upgrade in the past 7 years, but their military training is also improved, as evidence to their success against the terrorists.
On the other hand, Chavez have sacked most of the able military officers who haven’t signed on to his revolution for fear of yet another coup (and just like his sacking of most of PVDSA’s managers and engineer, that means most of the competent people) and staffed the army with people who signed the loyalty pledge. He also have a parallel army of loyalist thugs ‘militia’ that actually have a bigger budget than the regular military (shade of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is bigger and better equip than the regular army). This militia’s main use is to suppress political opposition, but utterly useless military speaking.
If he has actual intention of invading Colombia, he’ll get his ass handed to him.

  11. Since things are going south on the domestic front, Senor Chavez is going to try one of the classic tricks of tyrannies, the Short Victorious War.
You feign insult at a neighbor country you think your army can beat, you have a little war. Seize a bit of territory, kill off a the malcontents in your army by sending them to the front, use the war as an excuse for shortages at home, and in a couple of weeks you declare victory and have a ticker-tape parade. Maybe build a statue or two.
I look forward to the troll chorus defending this goblin. Come on kids, lets see some good old anti-war Bush hatred out there!

  12. How to be a Socialist Dictator, 101.
    Create an enemy.
    Drum up Nationalist sentiment.
    Declare martial law.
Arrest all your political opponents as traitors.

  13. Boycott Citgo gas stations is good. Senorita Chavez just might be stupid enough to start a war with Columbia.
