  1. …and it was said that she had previously competed not wearing her head covering..
No surprise. Showcasing her victimhood is dependant on the presence of the gullible MSM Useful Idiots. I’m not buying her immigrant family didn’t understand beforehand the mores/secularism of NA. But, the left and MSM have conveyed to them that it’s ignorable, victimhood trumps citizenship.
In the public schools of my youth, I never heard of a Catholic or Jewish family to even comment upon, let alone raise as an issue, the secular menu – no Kosher options/meat on Fridays – of the public schools. It wasn’t an affront.
Islam can damn well deal with it or leave NA.

  2. On Sandmonkey’s blog one time, he showed pictures of Muslim women in the 60’s in Egypt dressed in western fashionable dress, not a head scarf or burka in sight. I don’t believe the head scarf really has anything to do with their God’s laws, but more to do with Muslim men controlling Muslim women today.
The removal of the young girl’s scarf would prompt only the sickest individuals to figure she deserved to be raped and/or murdered. It isn’t like Christian or other religious peoples’ children are being raped and murdered for not wearing a head scarf. I have read how some Muslim women actually believe they must cover up because their beauty will cause men to lose all ability to control themselves, and hence they will be raped. These women need to learn the low-down on rape, and how it has sweet bugger all to do with how beautiful a woman is or not – it is all about power, and rotten Muslim men are just using the head scarf thingy as an excuse to ‘get it on’ whenever the opportunity arises.

  3. “There is not just Christians, there are other religions. They should be fair to everybody.”
First off, how is anyone being fair to Christians? Because Christians follow the dress code?

  4. Islam would have to be the most well-organized
Hello again, Belisarius. Yes, indeed, extremely well-orgainzed.
Here’s what to do: read the Muslim Brotherhood manifesto entered into evidence at the HLF trial.
    Here’s a piece at American Thinker. It’s link-rich.
Homeland Security Implications of the Holy Land Foundation Trial

In this piece, click on raw documents in second paragraph. Go to NEA site, download the document: “The 1993 Philadelphia Meeting: Roadmap for Future Muslim Brotherhood Actions in the US”.
As trivial as it may seem to you, this little muslim hijab girl is all part of the plan of “settlement”. A extremely well-organized operation.

If the stated aim of Christianity is the conversion of the world no central planning committee is required. In fact small one person efforts often bear the greatest reward. If the ideal of Islam is imposition of Sharia Law it wouldn’t take a central planning committee would it?

  6. What makes you think Islam is going to be any more successful than Christianity, Joe? Muslims moving here are subject to the same influences which have led to the decline in Church attendance, religion in day to day life, etc. Surely that influence will ultimately produce the same result amongst Muslims?
My opinion – worry about the Wahhabis and the radicals. Don’t let Saudi Arabia fund religious institutions in North America. The rest will take care of itself.

  7. And speaking of Saudi Arabia and why allowing their money here is a bad, bad idea:
    http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSL2057524920071120?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews&rpc=22&sp=true
“Saudi Arabia defended on Tuesday a court’s decision to sentence a woman who was gang-raped to 200 lashes of the whip, after the United States described the verdict as “astonishing”.
The 19-year-old Shi’ite woman from the town of Qatif in the Eastern Province and an unrelated male companion were abducted and raped by seven men in 2006.
Ruling according to Saudi Arabia’s strict reading of Islamic law, a court had originally sentenced the woman to 90 lashes and the rapists to jail terms of between 10 months and five years. It blamed the woman for being alone with an unrelated man.
Last week the Supreme Judicial Council increased the sentence to 200 lashes and six months in prison and ordered the rapists to serve between two and nine years in jail.”
Anybody out there think this girlie is going to -survive- 200 lashes?
Which, oddly, does not move me to pity for the plight of one STUPID 12 year old whose STUPID parents put her up to this. If mum and dad had the brain God gave a chicken they would be in Ottawa today stoning the Saudi embassy, along with every other Muslim in the country. What are they doing instead? Media set-ups promoting second class status for women.
Were it my club she’d be out the door. So long, don’t let the door bang you in the ass on the way out.

  8. Covering ones head was once the norm among christians as well, most westerners – going back to early american protestants, commonly called pilgrims as well as russian orthodox women, actually if you look at photos of americans in public prior to WWII, you find it hard to find any person not covering their head!

  9. When I did judo in college, my understanding of the judo “gi” was that it created a standardized form of dress for all participants since the use of any item of clothing for throws, chokes etc was perfectly legal. Extraneous items of clothing including watches, jewelry etc. were removed to reduce the risk of injury. Judo was heavily influenced by shinto, buddhism etc. I know of some christians who choose not to participate in martial arts because of some of these influences. While I never found the rationale particularly compelling the key is that the christians simply decline to participate; they don’t demand that the rules or practice be changed to accomodate them. Since the charter of “rights and freedoms” apparently includes a right to have your medical education paid for by your parents, I’ve no doubt that it also includes a “right” to do judo. If that’s the case then it also includes the right for one’s opponent to pull your headscarf over your face, blind you, and use it to choke you out. Perhaps the solution lies in muslim’s developing their own form of martial art, jihadi-do in which they can regulate any form of dress they please — burkha wrestling anyone?

  10. Quoth Todd: “Covering ones head was once the norm among christians as well…”
Yes, and the Ford flathead V8 used to be the pinacle of automotive technology. Time, as they say, moves on. Styles change.
Meanwhile in the real world, it is hard to see the connection between the ancient history of defunct sartorial norms, and damn fools demanding special treatment at a sporting event for purely political purposes.
    Wouldn’t you say Todd?
By the way, did you miss my post about gluing a handle to your head being a bad idea at a Judo match? Someone’s going to definitely pull on it.

  11. Christian women wore coverings – usually hats – in church; out of church, Christian women wore hats or headcoverings as fashion statements or as just bad fashion statements when they covered curlers.
