  1. David Suzuki the #2 best ‘screwer”.
    Maurice Strong #3
There is hope — acknowlegement is the first step in dealing with a problem.

  2. The Parliamentary Press gallery should have been there ahead of Moe Srong and just after Chretien!
Talk about Liberal “lickspittle” enablers of government malfeasacne.

  3. Only reason PET didn’t make #1 is probably because he is dead. (but not dead enough IMHO)
Ever wonder why we love lists so much? Letterman makes a fortune off of his top ten and it seems like just about every channel on the boob tube have a “Top Ten XXXX” program. Heck, it is even the same in cyberspace. Top blog anyone?

  4. Not sure why Gilles Duceppe is ranked so high.
Guess because he’s the current leader of the Blocheads.
Since Quebec has now been deemed to be a nation within a united Canada, much of Duceppe’s sting cannot be taken seriously.
Top three are good, led by Yankin’ Hank, the most ouspoken of the group that had difficulty understanding the concept of sanctity of human life.
Suzuki sadly has become just an angry caracature of himself, abusing those who disagree with him.
I would rank Strong No.1. He’s the head spider spinning a web to ensnare and control … truly as dangerous a marxists as there is right now. And, his implication in the Oil for Food scandal demonstrated his ‘Out for No. 1′ superiority complex.

  5. “Since Quebec has now been deemed to be a nation within a united Canada, much of Duceppe’s sting cannot be taken seriously.”
Sighhhhh. When are you people going to get it right? The QUEBECOIS,the people, were given distinct status, same as the Indians elsewhere. Quebec never has been separate from the ROC since Confederation(much to the ROC’s grief 🙂 )
Personally I think the province of Quebec and the politicians in Ottawa who bend over to them should have shared number 1.

  6. I think the reason Maurice Strong did, and should, garner top spot is the stealth factor. Politicians and some others are highly visible and are easily judged. Eventually.
The man from Oak Lake MB, however, is a back room world manipulator that the Canadian media freely gives a pass on. That, IMO, is the dangerous part and hence such a high #3 ranking for a relatively unknown.
Good job Spinks !! You obviously gave this project a lot of thought —- unlike CBC’s so-called ‘great Canadians’.

  7. “With the blessings of the United Nations, a bizarre ark knock-off, carried through Vermont farm fields and sailed by sloop to UN Manhattan headquarters, has been making the rounds as a show-and-tell exercise at public schools. Called the Ark of Hope, the replica carries, among other things, the Earth Charter, a replacement for the Ten Commandments as advocated by former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev and Kofi Annan right hand man, Maurice Strong.”
Making communism “THE” worlds one and only religion, and Moe only gets 3rd.
What’s an evil diabolical genius have to do to get a little street cred around here?
Somebody throw him a frikin bone.

  8. Thanks for this informative article re those who screw up Canada. I’d try doing a list for the U.S., but I’d need a lot more than 101. Keep up the good work.

  9. I really don’t care about who falls where on the list.
Spinks’s essays on the subjects are what’s really interesting. Very nicely summarized bios of a bunch of people who really deserve to be publicly scrutinized!

  10. DAVID SUZUKI,MAURICE STRONG,PAUL MARTIN Hey i have the book 100 PEOPLE WHO ARE SCREWING BY AMERICA by BENARD GOLDBURG and hey even you candians are having trouble with liberals makinga mess of your country

  11. Maybe the chief blochead should take a trip over to Afghanistan and talk to his fellow francophones before he goes shooting his pie hole off. One fact I know to be true, is that every last member of the Van Doos were fully aware that they were not joining the boy scouts. Asshat civilians cannot micromanage
a theater of war. If he continues his idiotic performance, he deserves the # 1 spot on the list. GO ARMY!

  12. Looks like Morgentaler has been aborted from the #1 position in favour of Maurice Strong.
    For WLMR et al.:
More on Maurice Strong and the Kyoto Karbon Kredit Kult from an email published by an astute observer some time ago.
As usual its about MONEY and CONTROL.

    Subject: kyoto
    “Kyoto???”
I found this quite interesting. Just more evidence that we can’t trust these useless politicians!
It may pay you to spend a few minutes tracing the connections of Paul Desmarais and Power Corp. to the leading politicians, etc. of Canada. This association explains the Kyoto pact:
JOHN RAE: leading strategist for Prime Minister Chretien’s election campaign. Was Executive Vice- President of Power Corp. and Paul Desmarais’ right- hand man. His brother is….
BOB RAE: ex-NDP Premier of Ontario, who appointed….
MAURICE STRONG (his god father) to the chairmanship of Ontario Hydro, which he proceeded to dramatically cut in both skilled human resources and generating capacity Past CEO of Desmarais Power corp. Strong received an appointment to the UN as senior environmental advisor to the UN president and chairman of the earth council. He was responsible for the Kyoto accords. More on Moe Strong: http://www.afn.org/~govern/strong.html
PAUL MARTIN: current federal Finance Minister. Rose through the ranks at Power Corp., mentored by Paul Desmarais. Bought Canada Steamship Lines from him. Ran against Chretien for Liberal Party leadership.
JEAN CHRETIEN: Prime Minister. Daughter, France, is married to Andre Desmarais, son of Paul Desmarais, chairman of Power Corporation. Chretien’s “advisor, counsellor and strategist” for the past 30 years has been …
MITCHELL SHARP, who brought Chretien into politics when he was Finance Minister. Sharp has been, since 1981, Vice-Chairman for North America of the corporate globalist TRILATERAL COMMISSION.
DANIEL JOHNSON: Liberal leader in Quebec. Rose through the ranks of Power Corp. Key in delivering federal spending to Quebec based Power Corp and other corporate welfare cases in the province
BRIAN MULRONEY: ex-Conservative Prime Minister. Now a lawyer and lobbyist for Power Corporation which, together with Ontario Hydro and Hydro Quebec, has just formed the Hong Kong-based ASIA POWER CORP., to help China to develop its energy potential. Power Corp.’s legal interests in Asia will be handled by a Hong Kong branch of Mulroney’s Montreal law firm, Olgilvy, Renault.
PIERRE TRUDEAU: past PM and former power corp. lawyer. Introduced into the company by his father who had business connections to Desmarais. PET signed over millions to Power corp. under federal grant programs. Desmarais funded his election campaign.
So…we have the CONSERVATIVE party , the LIBERAL party , and the NDP all tightly connected to….Paul Desmarais and Power Corp.
And we have the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister, and the Prime Minister’s key aide all tightly connected to….Paul Desmarais and Power Corp.
We now see the Power Corp. key alumnus in the UN Kyoto deal which so coincidentally benefits the (largely unpublicized) business interests of Desmarais alumnus.
Maurice Strong has now joined Brian Mulroney and Paul Desmarais in investing in the Asia Power Group’s $100 million venture capital in “small coal-fired power plants being built in the south of China”. They are also looking at “larger projects in northern China, as well as in Malaysia, the Philippines and India.” The Asian economies are expected to spend $1 trillion on essential infrastructure, of which an estimated $400 billion will be on power generation. Chinese and Asian labour costs are low – as low, in China, as $45 per month – and potential profits are enormous.
The Nov/Dec. 1993 issue of Council on Foreign Relations’ publication FOREIGN RELATIONS contains an article, THE RISE OF CHINA, in which we are warned that China will begin to use more energy than the United States within a few decades, massively straining the world’s energy supplies. If you were a power company investment magnet where would you place your future fortunes?
In a nation wracked with environmental paranoia or a developing, unregulated energy hungry industrial giant? China is gearing up to be the world’s dominant manufacturing power. Most of China’s energy comes from the burning of soft, high-sulphur, highly- polluting coal. In 1991 alone, 11 trillion cubic meters of waste gases and sixteen million tons of soot were emitted into the atmosphere over China – and it has only just begun its long process of increased energy generation! The sulphur in this coal causes acid rain. The burning of the coal releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, the most efficient “greenhouse gas” in the global warming process.
There are indications that Strong , Desmarais and their crones (under ghost corporate affiliates) are behind the current rash of buying of low grade coal mines in depressed nations to fuel these projects. But this is yet to be fully substantiated. Who would invest so massively in low grade coal when it was targeted as Kyoto taboo commodity? Maybe someone who knew in advance they would be able to burn it with out regulation in China? Green house fears bottomed out the price of these coal purchases. If it can be used for power generating fuel, you stand to have a very inexpensive fuel source. China continues to burn coal in it’s power production unregulated by Kyoto.
Now the real hook. You remember Maurice Strong? Desmarais familiar and corporate confidante, ex power boss, major investor in 3rd world coal fired energy enterprise? Well Maurice ended up appointed to the UN as head advisor to the UN president on environmental affairs Is this irony? He was campaigned for that position by Canada’s PM’s and diplomats. As such, he called a little multi national conference called Kyoto! Maurice and his friend Jean Chretien wrote and signed an agreement which effectively will destroy their pal Desmarais` chef energy competitor (Alberta Nat Gas) and gave Power Corp investment in China coal/energy an enormous competitive advantage. Anyone who thinks this as mere coincidence is unaware of the networking of international corporate elites. This revelation makes it clear the Kyoto earth summit was a vehicle used by corporate (Strong/Chretien) bag men to create a huge global shift in power generation profits. They were backed by one of the worlds most devious businessmen.
    Oh, and Paul Desmarais?
In September, 1993, he joined the Trilateral Commission. He spearheaded the Tri-lat initiative of promoting a Kyoto-like conference over concerns for the planet from carbon emissions produced by the DEVELOPED NATIONS.
And you thought it was all about saving the planet?
    For who?

  13. As I posted over there, Morgentaler at # 1 is absurd, and Homolka and Olsen don’t belong on the list.
In Chuck Guite’s place, I’d put Gomery, for helping the LPC cover up and protect Chretien and Martin, while two stooges served a little time.
Critics called the whole inquiry a “whitewash”, and when only the low level minions get busted, I couldn’t disagree.

  14. The inclusion of Conrad Black, who is one of the few great Canadians living, is objectionable to the point that I suspect that the list has been put together by closet moonbats.

  15. All in all, a pretty good list but IMO Carolyn Parrish should be much higher that 96. I agree with dmorris that creeps like Homolka and Olsen don’t belong on such a list.

  16. Including Conrad Black who was never in politics, held no public sway, makes this a nondescript whatever the hell it is. Not worth the bother, total waste of consideration.

  17. I’m screwing up Canada. Me, personally.
From my secret base in the US.
And I’ll continue doing so until I can get BC Growers’ Cider here in the States, along with Zesty Cheese Doritos and Oat HobNobs.
    That’s my ultimatum.

  18. hans posting @ 346 just got copy and pasted and saved. a wealth of ‘connect the dots’.

  19. john lewis states: “The inclusion of Conrad Black, who is one of the few great Canadians living, is ”
    uhuh.
    canadian by convenience perhaps?
were you in a coma when his nibs freely ABANDONED his canadian citizenship for a lardship?

  20. What Black did re his citizenship did not affect the country. How the hell anyone would figure he’s screwing up Canada boggles the mind.
In order, let’s say, Trudeau, Chretien take first and second place, those are the two who had the power to screw us and they did. There are also rans, influence peddlers and deal makers, Mo Strong is one of those, we could file him under shady weasel.

  21. Anyone remember Paul Hellyer, floor crosser, who served under Pearson as Defence Minister and screwed the Army, Navy and Air Force by uniting them under one umbrella?
Well, he’s still going strong these days, star gazing as an “expert” on the subject of UFO’s, he’s a firm believer in them.

  22. I was certain that pierre turdeau was going to win the prize as #1 for screwing up Canada, as he clearly was, and was bitterly disappointed to see one of his lesser creations (the abortion meister) making top grade. Then it dawned on me that you have to be above ground to be on Spinks’ list. Now it is true, as texas canuck stated so eloquently, that turdeau ain’t dead enough, but this is partly because so many of his creations are still around screwing up the country: morgentaler, cretch, martin, sacha, and others. Note how many made the list.
Having read Hans’ contribution at 3:46 (a pretty succinct precis of moe strong’s character and possible motivations and a quite plausible conspiracy theory) I would be inclined to agree with some others here and put moe up at #1. Moe may be pretty well rotted by now but he’s still above ground and hasn’t yet ended his lengthy career of screwing up Canada and its better friends.
Hey fellow Manitobans, doesn’t this home grown mega-success just make your chests swell with pride?

  23. I agree, Black gets a bad wrap. He should NEVER have been put in the position of having to choose between his citizenship and the British honour of “Lordship” . . . particularly in the light of the broader acceptance of dual-citizenship. The fact that he was forced to choose was the result of Chretien’s malice . . . and Black’s “sin” in my view, was simply not bowing to Chretien’s capricious demands. His is not exactly a straightforward case of rejecting one’s citizenship because you don’t place any value on it or don’t care about the country. Essentially he was blackmailed.

  24. “Hey fellow Manitobans, doesn’t this home grown mega-success just make your chests swell with pride?”
As they said in an episode of Monty Python:
    “My nipples erupt in anticipation!”

  25. Coderre’s performance on cbc today ranks him right up there too…he again kept referring to PMSH,as President ‘Arper…and the love affair with Bush.Honest to God,that man makes me gag.Anyone else notice that he has dyed his hair..looks even more creepy and disgusting.

  26. Thanks, Hans Rupprecht, for the goods on Maurice Strong, Paul Desmarais and company.
It’s clear that Paul Desmarais is the Puppetmaster and, yet, he gets a free pass everywhere. I guess that’s what absolute power does: Besides corrupting it also makes others very afraid.
I made a comment on Paul Desmarais, about all of the connections that go straight back to Power Corp, on a well-known Conservative Blog a few months ago and the proprietor of said Blog immediately posted that Paul Desmarais, apparently, is a fine family man. No comments on what else he is or might be.
I could smell the fear: Between the lines? “Don’t mess with Desmarais–especially on my blog”
He should have been high up on the list and in a surreptitious way, he is, with the inclusion of Strong, Chretien, Martin, Trudeau, Mulroney, and company–and they’re only the tip of the iceberg.
Canadians’ apathy is to blame and our s**t-for-brains journalists who pander to the Power (Corps) that be. My question was going to be: What did Canadians do to deserve this s**t load of shysters? And, of course, the answer is “nothing,” total apathy, and the usual “I’m OK. ‘Got a 24 of beer for the weekend and the Leafs are playing the Canadiens.”
I think Morgentaler deserves #1, though it’s a toss-up. He is responsible for the non-existence of 1.5 million Canadians in the past 35 years. Aside from the (im)morality of taking such a staggering number of human lives, and for money, lots of it, that’s a lot of jobs lost: teachers, nurses, doctors, manufacturing, housing, transportation, auto industries, etc. And it’s one of the reasons Canada has had to rely so heavily on immigration–which is another problem in itself. Multiply the 1.5 million by two or three, because these aborted children would be adults by now and if it weren’t for Canada’s acceptance of “a culture of death,” they might well have reproduced another 1.5 million children or more.
Canada’s lionizing Henry Morgentaler (who, BTW, isn’t an ob/gyn but a general practitioner whose questionable practices often brought him before disciplinary boards, but made him a millionaire, nonetheless) greatly contributed to a general acceptance in Canada of solving social problems by simply ridding ourselves of them. It is too high a price to pay in a so-called civilized society and, as we all have noticed, Canadians are becoming less civilized by the day.

  27. Well, the acuity of people who would say evil mass murderers such as Clifford Olsen etc… are less dangerous than certain environmentalists or politicians – of any stripe – just goes to show how incredibly stupid and ignorant some people are.
Don’t they have schools in Kelowna?

  28. Yes Sammy, Coderre ranks high on the list. He can dip his head in the dye pot, won’t change him from the blowbag Weasel he is.
He’s a favorite of the likes of Mike Duffy, thinks he’s merely being such a passionate Liberal, he certainly does make one’s skin crawl.

  29. “just goes to show how incredibly stupid and ignorant some people are.”
Speaking of incredibly stupid and ignorant, Clifford Olsen isn’t a mass murderer, he’s a serial killer.

  30. Easy to see why anyone would make Morgenthaler our public enemy #1:
“The rights of the unborn” are a great cause- You don’t need to prove space for them, feed and house them, educate them, provide medical services for them, or supply them with jobs, etc.
(And that way, you can completely ignore those of us who are already here. (That’s dipwad catholic thinking). And- as a former resident of New Brunswick, I can tell you that they are not the most backward province in this country, ( and our equivalent of the Ozarks)! Wanna guess why?

  31. 30% of the people who think the Tories are right on. The 12 MP’s from Sask. This blog. Crazy Kate nd her flunkies.
