I’m as shocked by this as you are:
Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

I don’t dispute that Calvin Coolidge has/had a point. What he couldn’t have factored in is the fame factor.
I have no doubt that we will continue to be inundated with this climate change rhetorical bullshit but I believe it has hit it’s peak or is very near to it.
These leftard media/fame whores make the same mistake every time. They fire up the rhetoric, pushing it to ever increasing levels of absurdity until they have no place to go but down.
The sheeple faithfully follow along until by sheer instinct they slowly become uneasy. Call it the Bennifer effect.
This turning mood of the flock first appears in the edgier corners of pop culture. Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park seem to have a good sense of the flock. They’ve already done an episode mocking the hollywood, prius driving, our farts don’t stink crowd. South Park is destroyed by a cloud of Smug originating from prius driving yuppies and the cloud generated by George Clooney’s Oscar acceptance speech for Syriana. I give Parker and Stone credit for usually being a year or two ahead of the curve and this episode came out last season.
With big Al’s coming Live Earth concert event planned for 07/07/07 (funny how all kinds of terrorists like to have their big events on numerically significant dates) watch for the sheeple to really start turning against them later this summer.
These asshats will eventually become a parody of themselves. Remember the lasting impact Live Aid had? Neither do I.

In case you don’t get it alby, filler notes from Universities or Professors do not count.
They are reliant on funding. From govmits mostly. And so have to cook up a cause, any cause will do. Ya see, most have never produced anything that others would pay $$ for. And most could not get a job in the real world and so are scared stiff and will fight tooth and nail and lie too.
I know, I have been there.
Albatros: you are quite the riot. Something about leftys that they take thier own worst qualities and pin them on their opponents.
Hey albatros39a,
Would those memberships be for Maurice Strong, Al Gore, Dion and the rest of them.
Give me a break it’s a pyramid scam with them all at the top. Were you lose me is when you call any one who is against this scam a climate change denier. Actually they are not one and the same. Climate change is the science, Kyoto is the product. I think I’ll spend my money here in Canada and actually make a difference. See you at the gym.
[Socialist-Liberal] Rae Buys House In Toronto Centre Riding
Bob Rae has purchased a home in Rosedale, the federal riding of Toronto Centre where he is expected to seek the Liberal nomination.
(national newswatch)
Rosedale is a low rental area. Why is Bob investing in welfare housing?
Rumour has it he plans to build/add a grampy suite for his Uncle, the aging Mao Strong. …-
Rosedale:
To outsiders, the street plan seems impenetrable. There is nowhere in downtown Toronto where more people get lost. After a while, strangers realize that the natives like it that way.
Unpredictably twisting streets help create an atmosphere of privacy, a quality especially valued in a district so close to the city core. Rosedale shows no signs of economic weakening. Of Toronto dwellings that sold for more than $1 million in 1999, 19 per cent were in Rosedale. Selling prices have gone up with the market, increasing on average by a bit more than $100,000.

Why am I not surprised? Watching the Oscars, I couldn’t help but wonder how much energy was burned up to produce all that hot air. And Melissa Etheridge’s song was execrable. By the way is Gore, like, 300 pounds now, or what?
With all the weight gain on algore, how many new suits has he had to buy. Has he given any thought to the emmissions caused by the manufacture of his new clothes. If he had, he would go on a diet to save the planet. Imagine if he ever got elected to be President. Every decision would be made on how much ghg would be let loose if carried out.
GHG is not the first cause algore has taken on and been two faced about. When campaigning for VP he took on the tobacco industry, until someone brought out the fact, he grew tobacco on his farm.
“He also wanted articles about Polar Bears and global warming, so here it is.”

The cites you posted address specific polar bear populations, not the total population. One of those is even in an area that has been getting COLDER. Maybe you should look at the entire picture of the TOTAL polar bear population and you may begin to get a hint of the POLITICS involved.

As to your “google-search-and-dump” of peer-reviewed articles, anyone can do that. I ask for peer-reviewed citations that specifically addressed specific claims that you made. You may have provided that somewhere in the chaff. Who can really tell. That is a ploy that doesn’t work with me anymore.
From the other thread: Ah-ha! Precession. And when did it STOP becoming the driving factor, and MAN took over.
SO… EXACTLY WHERE DID THE BIG ICE CUBE GO, AND WHY? AND, WHEN DID IT STOP GOING?
I could do a *google-search-and-dump* also, but why waste the space here, and the time of the other posters.
It has finally become apparent that you lack the ability to research both sides of an issue properly. Any further time spent with you is wasted.
From the other thread: me, in the oil patch! What a joke. That just shows more of your ignorance and bias. Is that how you intend to argue your positions in your future profession?
For the side negating “made-made” global warming, there are good referrences at “lannysblog.blogspot.com”
The mayor of TO is on telling about how you can help change the climate. He will have higher than kyoto targets. Get ready to redo your roofs with MOSS. Will lower your house temp by 2 degrees. What will you save in electric costs as opposed to how much will it cost to redo your roof. All new homes will be built green.
Here is a rather *inconvenient* truth:
Who might be connected to tax returns that show a $20,000 per year receipt of mining royalties from their own property (until mine closure in 2003)? This is a property that exhibited high levels of barium, iron and zinc in an adjacent river and elevated levels of arsenic, chromium, lead and cyanide in soils adjacent to said river? Apparently the concentrations were not exceeding mandated limits, but cannot exactly be thought of as *green* by any measure.
Since 2003 has any remedial action been undertaken in the river, or the adjacent soils? Is it necessary, or does $20,000 not quite cover the bill?
Albatros: Where to begin? For starters Google one of the IPCC’s favorites “Vostok Ice Cores” and review their results. It’s jaw-dropping. The determination of mean global temperature is based on deuterium 18 levels in the ice cores, which while they may reflect temperature or ionizing radiation activity at the time of deposition at the antarctic drilling sites are not correlated to mean global temperature by any other means. The time scale for the cores is extrapolated from glacial movement computer modelling for which no description is furnished, are not referenced and no evidence of validation is offered. The authors themselves state that in several instances rises in mean global temperature (by their methodology) precede rises in CO2 levels, and in other instances rises in CO2 levels precede rises in mean global temperature (by their methodology) by several millenia!!! And you wonder why I’m sceptical? Don’t even get me started on the tree ring data and the (non) existence of the Little Ice Age capped off by the infamous hockey-stick graph! It’s mind-bogglingly bad science.
DrD… exactly! Well done.
Thanks Yoop.
albatros – the electricity bills of Al Gore are public record and are not disputed by Gore. You can check out comments in USA Press, ABC news, He has tried to exonerate himself by stating that he is ‘trying’ to reduce consumption by using compact fluorescent bulbs (!!) and dealing with his ‘sin’ by purchasing carbon offsets. Oh, and his excuse is that both he and his wife’ work’ from their home. I’m sure you must realize these are trivial excuses.
No, your example of the fat woman purchasing gym memberships isn’t valid – it is an invalid as purchasing carbon credits. Your problem is that you don’t examine your basic axioms. After all, you can purchase as many gym memberships as you want, but who can prove that the inhabitants of X-country actually use them, or that the cost of those memberships isn’t inflated 1,000 times or that the gym even exists? Or that such usage will reduce weight?
Equally, your assumption that global warming is not natural but is anthropogenic is unproven – and, also, your assumption that climate change has an apocalyptic result is sheer hysteria. You ignore that climate change has been ongoing since this planet was formed – and life is extremely adaptable.
Albatross,
You have simply listed a number of citations which are involved in various studies related to climate — yes, they are peer reviewed, but to claim that they support manmade global warming is nonsense. It is a) impossible to determine the extent of human influence on climate — all life has an effect on climate, so what and b) impossible to measure the global surface temperature to any degree of accuracy with any level of confidence, until perhaps recently with satellites. Furthermore, the predicted behavior of the climate by all the General Circulation Models has not occured, ie they all predict massive warming of the antarctic — the Anarctic has cooled over the past 30 years — therefore the models are clearly wrong. James Hanson the greatest Global Warming MamaCrier is a paranoid nutcase. Phil Jones keeps revising his surface temperature results, but does not release his raw data. Michael Mann has not released his complete raw data, but what has been released has been shown to be badly manipulated….. the list goes on. The fact tha you had 4700 hits or whatever in your search simply shows how much taxpayer money is being wasted by idiots looking for a smoking gun which doesn’t exist. Remember, you can correlate anthing with anything. You can get an uptrend or downtrend or no trend by picking the appropriate starting and ending points. You can use regression analysis of trendless data to give you anything you want by selectively eliminating appropriate “outliers”. So quit with BS — if its religion you want, fine — but don’t try to pass it off as science. Also, the idea of frightening little children in schools to feed someone’s fantasies is disgusting.
One refinery in Ont is shut down because of a fire. Other refineries in the US are also shut down because of fires. Coincidence or terror attacks. Result is no gas in TO, so all you kyotologists, just think what would happen if the majority of refineries in Canada are shut down. And May and others say there will be no harm to the economy if targets are met. Of course, with no refining going on, no emmissions, so will that shut down go towards lowering ghg. Where will all the moss come from to replace roofs in TO. How is it produced, does it emit ghg in the process.
Hey, Dion is predicting a liberal majority in the next election. He has 100 seats, where will the extra 55 come from. With all the libs that are not running again we will know if those seats are liberal or the MPs. This vote on the terrorist bill could have grave results for western lib mps. Will Regina re-elect Goodale, after all his antics lately. Just maybe it will be Layton using that exercise room, and dion reduced to tird party status. Can’t wait for PMSH to refer to dion as the leader of the tird party, aka Chretain. And how will the news that Chretain liberals stole 30 million dollars from CUPE union funds.
Old Chemist, you said it all.
If only the Media was informed. Even to a 6th grader level.
“.. Also, the idea of frightening little children in schools to feed someone’s fantasies is disgusting.””
Exactly. Think Suzuki and Gore and one can imagine the Mother Of All Lawsuits.
Toxic Hypocrisy!
I think Al forst became interested in global warming when he noticed the ice carvings over the chilled caviar melted faster with the mansion’s air conditioning turned off.
the herald was full on letters to the editor today as well as an editorial telling Dr. Bono Suzuki to mind his own fruitflys.
Is anyone near Quadra Island ? can anyone check out the Suzuki Sugar Shack?
The mayor of Toronto – moss on the roof- yeah thats healthy. water leaks, rotting wood, rotting shingles , standing water everywhere. these guys sure have their heads up their a$$ when it comes to anything practical.
soon it will be sod houses and riding on donkeys – just like the ideal society envisioned by Dr Bono and
Sacha the commie Trudeau ( Cuba)
and Gore at the Oscars – saying that he has been on about global warming for 30 years. wasnt he still busy inventing the internet?
He makes reference to the third trudeau spawn near the end.

when I think of it , I wonder why this wasnt attributed to global warming too.
30 years ago wasn’t global cooling all the rage, does gore admit he went against conventional wisdom of the day. I don’t recall any articles by him calling global cooling a kook idea. But, I have never read any of his books. And, in all his stmts re global warming, he states the world has 10 years left. That means we are 20 yrs over his projections. We need to find a stmt or article, from about 1977 on, using his figures.
Liberals like AL GORE uae use up to thousands of kilowatt hours of electricy and then demand we cut our energy use what a bunch of hypotcrits its like when PG AND E were putting on those stupid save enenrgy ads on TV and his little royal snottiness AL GORE dont have to plane powered by rubberband
There is nothing phonier on this earth than wealthy Liberal/Socialists.
They are all knowing, they know exactly what is good for everything and everybody. It has no remote resemblance to how they themselves conduct their lives.
They are the world’s Hypocrites.
They should be run out of Town, everywhere!
I’m sorry… is this supposed to convince me that Al Gore doesn’t actually care about the environment? I don’t believe he’s asked anyone to move into shanties and live off the land. He wants higher emission standards in cares. Better support for public transit. Switching to alternative energy sources. And yes, reducing where we can our energy consumption. He argues that you can live the American dream in green, not that we have to revert to some 1800’s pre industrial society.
I think you’d be able to see this were it not for the full on Gore Hating hard-on you all have. I know I’d have a hard time thinking rationally under those circumstances.

So I provide peer-reviewed articles and you provide a web sight of a company that receives funding from

· El Paso Energy Foundation
· ExxonMobil Foundation
· Eli Lilly and Company Foundation
· Lilly Endowment Inc.
· Procter & Gamble Fund
You know if you had read the article instead of just the title you would have seen the author talks about the reduced icepack in the eastern Canadian Arctic, which is leading to lower birth weights in cubs from less fat in mother bears which is leading to increased mortality.
“As to your “google-search-and-dump” of peer-reviewed articles, anyone can do that. I ask for peer-reviewed citations that specifically addressed specific claims that you made. You may have provided that somewhere in the chaff. Who can really tell. That is a ploy that doesn’t work with me anymore.”
Those articles do not come from Google; they are from a binder on my desk. The articles were found originally by searching for them through Geobasea and CSA Illustrata
“From the other thread: Ah-ha! Precession. And when did it STOP becoming the driving factor, and MAN took over.”
Who said it stopped? It’s just not affecting our climate to any great extent right now.
“SO… EXACTLY WHERE DID THE BIG ICE CUBE GO, AND WHY? AND, WHEN DID IT STOP GOING?”
What “ice cube”? Stick to the subject, I have no interest in ice cubes in your triple Scotch.
“I could do a *google-search-and-dump* also, but why waste the space here, and the time of the other posters.”
You asked for peer-reviewed articles, you got peer-reviewed articles. I’m sure even you understand they are not public property and can’t be posted on this forum. If you want to read them, you’ll just need to either pay to read them or find them at a library somewhere.
“It has finally become apparent that you lack the ability to research both sides of an issue properly. Any further time spent with you is wasted.”
You should try a little of that research yourself and no the Calgary Sun does not count as real climate research.

Gore may not be disputing his electricity bill, but he does say he is reducing where he can. Not much of an argument I admit, and frankly I’m not much of a Gore fan myself, as he is a bit of a hypocrite. We do however have to remember that through his actions he has helped bring global warming into the minds of millions if not a billion or two. He therefore has potentially reduced the global output of carbon by many millions of Gore mansions. While the O’Reillys of the planet do nothing but fight the science and breed ignorance, Al Gore has done his bit to breath life into a dieing planet. For that I’ll forgive him his excesses.
DrD
Paleclimatologists look for a quantitative comparison between the oxygen isotopes O16 and O18 in ice cores and in CaCO3 in seabed sedimentary cores (SMOW) to calculate past climate. Contrary to your statement, there is simply no such thing as “deuterium 18.” Deuterium contains the hydrogen isotope 2H to make heavy water 2H2O and tritium is water the hydrogen isotope 3H to make 3H2O.
Of course the CO2 levels increase after the temp rises, simply due to increase plant growth following a glacial period. Carbon dioxide in past warming events were not linked to CO2 levels that way it is during this warming period.
“Tree rings data” or dendrochronolgy is a highly accurate method of calculating past climate but it’s not the only method. Like ice cores mentioned above, there is alkenones, speleothems, palynology and the list goes on to assemble past climate.
“the (non) existence of the Little Ice Age” I’m not sure I’m following that statement about the Little Ice Age, it was a period cooling in Europe and North America (not a global event) known as the Maunder Minimum. The cause was a period of reduced solar activity and agravated for a time by the 1815 eruption of Tambora.
Hockey stick? I’m not sure who started the hockey stick chart but the only relevant thing that chart does is show the rate of warming that we are in today. It’s the rate of warming that is the major concern. There have been many hockey sticks in past climates but none with this rate of change.
Old Chemist
It wouldn’t hurt you to do some climate research yourself.
B. Hoax Aware
Dr. Patrick Moore
Bjorn Lomborg

Wow what a list: some economists who know zip about climate , some right wing journalists who also know zip about climate, a co-founder of Greenpeace A.K.A. “The Eco Whore” (when did nuclear power become safe), and oh my the first Canadian PhD in Climatology, Tim Ball. I met Tim Ball a couple of years ago and wanted to shove my arm into boiling water after he shook my hand. Word has it they are still fumigating his old office over at the U of W. The fact is the guy is a quack that hasn’t published anything in over three decades.
Albatross,
Your comments have no substance — you just try to denigrate people who point out the many flaws in your beliefs. You seem to make up ‘facts’. Also,in case you weren’t aware, all life is based on carbon and all that carbon comes from c02. The idea of restricting the flow of carbon by government fiat is technically about the stupidest idea I have ever heard.
“There have been many hockey sticks in past climates but none with this rate of change.”
Posted by: albatros39a at February 28, 2007 12:37 AM
This statement of yours has already been proven false by scientists much more informed in the paleoclimates of the Pleistocene and Holocene than you apparently are.
Your credibility is now LESS than zero.
Ignore/on
Yoop there’s plenty of information out there which proves the rate of change is happening. You seem to think you have information that says otherwise from “scientists”. Could you please post the information that you have so we can all read it. Don’t forget to make sure they are peer-reviewed articles so we know you’re not full of it. Or are you?
Albatross, yes, I stand corrected on the “Deuterium” label, I type in haste, however, the point remains that the isotope ratio in the antarctic cores has not been independently correlated to “mean global temperature” by any method. The point about the “little ice age” which you agree actually occured, is that the IPCC reports citing the tree ring data deny the very existence of the “little ice age”. It seems you don’t agree with the IPCC scientific reports either.
