Et Tu, Harper?

They came not to praise Pearson, but to bury him!

“I have no doubt in my mind that they would try to eradicate everything that has been good by the Liberal party and by great Liberals in this country from the history books if they could,” said Todd Russell, a Liberal MP for the riding of Labrador. “Fortunately right now, they can’t, but it just again speaks to the nature of this particular Conservative government.”
[…]
“For somebody to think that you’ve got to put a shroud over it or build a wall to hide it to keep it out of view from American government officials that is just pathetic and I think those American government officials will think it’s pathetic too,” Ralph Goodale, the Liberal Government House Leader, said outside the House of Commons.

If you missed this last evening on CTV, the video is a hoot.

  1. LOL! The Liberals hoisted on their own petard–again. ‘Problem with these LPC guys, is that they’ve got the memory of a fruit fly: It’s very tiny.

  2. Has the cbc showed this. Seems liberals know not what they have done in the past. Hope Goodale and Bell are asked for an apology.
Suzuki lost it last night in Calgary. Very angry pic of him on front page of Calgary Sun. Tom Brodbeck has a great column on him also.

  3. Saw this on the news, and just laughed my a** off!I especially loved the ever outraged Ralph, and Minna in QP trying to make issue of this in QP.what really stunned me tho,was that Gloria Galloway fell for this faux outrage, and actually wrote big article in G&M,prompting much commentary at the web-site!I submitted my thots, that this wasn’t worth bird-cage lining for the paper, and requested data on how often the Libs.did same thing(hide Pearson),,but pointed out, there likely wasn’t data to find,as if Libs did this,it WOULD NOT be newsworthy!I am waiting for the apology from Libs,as they seem to demand apology for any,and all things PMSH or Cons.do!

  4. “”I have no doubt in my mind that they would try to eradicate everything that has been good by the Liberal party and by great Liberals in this country from the history books if they could,” said Todd Russell,”

If you subscribe to the few Freudian premises that still hold true, such as “projection” you can understand why a dogmatic socialist MP would accuse others of historic revisionism…
Projection is a psychotic defense mechanism. identified by Freud and still acknowledged today. According to Freud, projection is when someone is threatened by or afraid of their own impulses so they attribute these impulses to someone else.
For example, a person in psychoanalysis may insist to the therapist that he knows the therapist wants to rape some women, when in fact the client has these awful feelings to rape the woman….or in the case of our dogmatic Liberal friend here, accusing his opponents of degenerate statecraft.
…particularly when he comes from a party that has been notorious for sanitizing and “reinterpreting” the historic record as their political needs dictate.
Dogmatic partisans are bad enough but a dogmatic Liberal is just plain friggin’ creepy. Get a couch and a shrink for the whole creed.

  5. Dr. Fruit Fly – Herald Headline
Suzuki says Stelmach unfit to be Premier of Alberta .
Lecture us no more Dr. Bono Suzuki.

  6. I wouldn’t mind if Pearson International Airport got changed back to Toronto International Airport.
Nice scarf on the Alberta Tory MP.

  7. Oops, used the wrong name. Apologies to anyone named Bell. Can’t wait for the sneaky way PMSH will get this into question period. Maybe he will try to read the paper and be met by pounding outraged liberals, refusing to apoligize.

  8. Childish antics seem to be the norm from the liberals lately.Goodales spontaneous bursts of outrage are starting to wear thin.I think maybe Dions dream team and manufactured tantrums resemble my youngest childs nursery school at times.

  9. What amazes me is the acting ability of these so called Liberals….most be a prerequisite to be a Liberal MP.
On the other hand….maybe if we DID get ride of all the history of the Liberals they would have a better chance of being re-elected.
Ah….never mind….the pin heads who vote Liberal have no memories anyways. 🙁

  10. The liberals are prepared to dig up every past dead liberal because their live ones are nothing more than shills for a sick regime.
Goodale, the actor outshines Goodale the politician by a long shot.
This is just another example of liberals doing their version of a frenzied prairie chicken dance in the hopes of attracting attention.

  11. It would seem that doubts are not the only items missing from Mr Russell’s mind. Memories and cognitive thoughts also seem to be in short supply.

  12. “Onceponatime”; by Paul Martin, Jr.: A Movement. …-
“In fact, contractors say the display has been moved only once.
When Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin hosted U.S. President George Bush in 2004 and held a press conference in the same spot, contractors moved the display to the front of the stage area so it would be visible during the event.” [Ibid]
.. and, now, you know the rest of the story.*
    *H/T Paul Harvey

  13. Well one could only hope someone finds a backdrop to shove Dion behind. Maybe there would be room for Goodale too!

  14. So Canada hasnt done a thing internationally worth note snce 1957…..maybe it should be hidden?
You dont see the americans remindng everyone about Kissengers peace prize or Carters involvement…individual acheivements.
Pearson’s innovation was a good idea at the time, got the brits french and israelis out of a pickle and had the backing of the americans…that last point shouldnt be overlooked.
The fact that the liberals objections are partisan is instructive…a great Liberal Canadian acheivement is being covered up.
I await the naming of Quebec City Airport as Mulroney International and Vancouver as Campbell Inernational and edmonton as Clark International. Need to get to it early so that the Libs dont get to name theirs…..
Pearson, I have no trouble with…would have been better to name Ottawa that one though…

  15. Typical of the Liberals mentality, be outraged at whatever we say is outrageous, even if we committed the same sin a few weeks past.
I hope no one is implying Lester B. Pearson is some kind of Saint because of his Nobel Prize. His fostering of the UN Police Force in the Suez, 1956, has led us to the utter fiasco of UN “peacekeeping” we have today.
War is war, and to bring about a desirable end result, our side has to defeat their side in combat, period. “Peacekeeping” is for the faint of heart who wish to delude themselves that no one is getting killed. I’ve often wondered how the story of Rwanda would have differed if we’d sent a Patton, rather than a nice Canadian “Peacekeeper”.

  16. I see CBCpravda has dropped the story before they had to drop their pants and get a spanking.
after all that outrage its hard to play the oops or humility card. especially when you are the practiced mouthpiece of the natural ruling party.

  17. Im starting to think that is time for Ralph Goodale to step aside. He is starting to show his senility and forgets what his previous goverments did. He starting to flip flop just like his now HERO Dion.
Ralph you have served the Country well, but it’s time to give someone else a chance.
    Regina Sask.

  18. Look…let’s use our rearward optics in assessing this latest rash of Librano conniptions…first we have seen it before…always before a Liberal loss or during a Liberal plummit in the polls…it’s partisan nastyness brought out by fear and frustration.
What’s the fear and frustration?…well, every time the Liberals go to the polls they have manufactured an new synthetic “crisis” that only they can solve…we have a long list of them…the unity crisis, the handgun crisis, the healthcare crisis, the western Reform/Nazi crisis, now we have a new fabricated crisis they hope we buy…the climate crisis.
It appears they picked a dog this time because it isn’t flying publicly and the aggression their new bufoonish leader has pushed the “crisis” and pinned their hopes on a fragile single issue (riddled with past Liberal mistakes and with a cost time bomb attached)…thei single issue “crisis” is about to backlash on them and critically injure any hope they had of governing.
I see the desparate but transparent theatics (of feigned outrage) party pimps like Goodale et al are spewing in a vein attempt to smear conservatives at such a miniscule credibility level and I feel embarassed for him ( because he hasn’t the ethics to feel shame himself)
The end is near and seasoned liberals in the know realize Dion’s Kyoto bill is a time bomb is about to explode on Liberal election prospects…
…because Harper now holds all the cards and Dijon just presented him with the ammo to gun down Liberal credibility with lethal precision…Dion’s Kyoto enforcement bill will make sure the blame and the tabulated bill for Kyoto’s costly economics will be tabulated, documented in terms of the cost per capata and sat squarely on Liberal shoulders..he will close parliament and go to election after he presents parliament and the public with the bill for kyoto which they forced on the government and the voters will get a choice between Kyoto bill payments or a retooled enviromental plan that keeps revenues in Canada to reduce pollution and keep jobs and kyoto tax payments in the voter’s jeans.
Kyoto is indefensable if the costs are outted and the public realize what theu must sacrifice for a plan that is ineffective in the global scheme of things ( IE: Canadians paying 10 billion defauts tomChina who produces 50% of the world’s poluttion and Canada less than 2%) The absurdity and painful waste will be on public display with the Liberals fortunes pinned directly on it.
I believe this has been hanging over the seasoned Librano’s heads like a sword of Damocles..the tension comes out in their partisan cattishness; hissing and spitting over fly specs.

  19. Tell you who is a first class asshole, his name is Ralph Goodale. Don’t know about anyone else but I’ve had about enough of his haughty, holier-than-thou over the top reactions at every imagined opportunity.
Ralphy can take his reverence back to the wheat fields and go fart in the wind and whistle the
tune “Oh Lord it’s Hard to be Humble When Your Perfect in Every Way”.

  20. This is BIG,
Author of the Sun Story goes on Lib blog and says there was no leak!
Proves Ralphie knowingly engaged in a purely fabricated smear. (unlike, you know, the now true allegation that his office leaked).
    Here’s the statement:
”I wrote the story and there was no leak. It was very apparent from sitting through 19 months of the Air India trial who would be the obvious choices for investigative hearings – all the names came out during the evidence at the trial. After the trial, I wrote my book on Air India, called “Loss of Faith: How the Air India Bombers Got Away With Murder” and reviewed documents related to the one Supreme Court challenge of the investigative hearing provision, launched and lost by Satnam Reyat – the wife of the only man convicted.
I have covered this story since 1985 so there are few mysteries or secrets. I first interviewed Darshan SINgh Saini back in 1988. I have a copy of parts of his police statement that came out during the Air India trial. The reason I wrote the story this week is because I just learned (through Sikh community contacts, not POLICE) that Saini was the father-in-law of Bains. I did not know that until very recently. I called up Saini and Bains and they confirmed it. I thought it was relevant.
So don’t always look for a political conspiracy. In this case, there isn’t one.

  21. Former Liberal Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew, also had a wall in front of the Statue of Lester Pearson, when he and Ms Rice had a press conference in the very same room in 2005. It was also mentioned on ctv news tonight that several Liberals at various times had barriers in front of the statue.
Are the Liberals also prepared to condemn former Liberal Prime Ministers, Paul Martin and Jean Chretien also?

  22. It seems to me Liberals are the ones eradicating Liberal history. This was a once proud party, formidable at all times, humbled with no prospects of power.
BTW, I have heard many bloggers state China responsible for 50% of pollution. I haven’t read this before; are we talking about CO2 or pollution in general; are we talking about growth of emissions?

  23. “I wouldn’t mind if Pearson International Airport got changed back to Toronto International Airport.”
Actually, Mississauga Matt, I’d prefer if we renamed it Stephen Harper International Airport. He was, after all, born in Toronto.

  24. Methinks the Juno’s need a new category..an award for “Best Feigned Outrage by a Politician”..and the statue will be appropriately named..THE RALPH AWARD!Their could be sub-categories,of Best Use of “Ideology” when referring to PMSH,Best Use of Being Offended,,Worst Offence Of Women…this would receive the Honorary Pink Book..and the list goes on!
Anytime now, that I hear the word outrage, come out of a Lib’s mouth,it has lost all sting..it has become so non-outrageous,that I sit back and wait for the giggles! They are becoming as big a joke as anything Layton has to say..another media whore! Come on kids, make up your own awards, and maybe we can convince cbc to do a whole awards show, complete with George Alphabetsoup to host!

  25. rabid ralphie is showing the rest of the country what most of us in the west already know…..the liberals ship is listing badly and desperation has set in. the rats are starting to jump overboard. even msm is starting to report the truth. hopefully harper can steady his boat and avoid the mines that await from the moonbats.

  26. I see King Kinsella has weighed in on this “cover-up”..criticizes the “Tory Spinners”…..dork!

  27. ROTFLMAO!!!!
Wornout Kantsellit is positively pissy and identifies CTV as “tory spinners”.
    Bwwwaaahhhhaaaahahahaha!!!
Hell he goes even further and claims the non-partisan high ground by proclaiming it matters not a whit if tories or grits are guilty of concealing “Mike’s” medal. The act itself is indefensible.
Yet as I read the CTV article this paragraph jumps out at me:
But CTV News has learned that the Pearson display was routinely hidden by backdrops set up for the press conferences of Liberal ministers during the governments of Paul Martin and Jean Chretien.
That fact, though, did not deter Liberals from attacking the Conservatives.
Hmmmmmmmm….WK is quick to find fault with the tories sin of omission and the same for past indiscretions by PMPM’s handlers. But what of the same heinous faux pas by PMJC’s media consultants?
Can anybody tell me who that might have been?
As far as awards go, I suggest The Heddy Fry Award for Hysterical Hyperbole and The William Shatner Award for Excellent Elocution.
    Syncro

  28. Actually, Sammy (1:33pm), I was just going to suggest a Razzie category for “Worst acting in a political arena”. Lately, it seems, all of the nominees would be Liberals.
Where exactly was Mr. Dion during all of this? You would think that it would be the Party Leader who would get up to feign outrage at this outrageous attempt to cover up history.

  29. So that’s it, Goodale is an impresario. He’s doing an impression of a frenzied Prairie Chicken dancing for attention!
Thanks “Canuck of the North”, it’s a perfect explanation of what’s been going on with the
    desperate Liberals.

  30. I still like Warren but I will tell you I pay a lot less attention to his musings since he failed to publically condemn the troglydytes at the Liberal convention.
For all his anti racist cred he blew it all when he wouldnt or couldnt find the will to publicize names and drop a codemnation on his blog for those who went after Bob Rae for being married to a jew.
So that he would forget that Mr Chretien did the same thing doesnt surprise me. That he would forget that Martin actually put the medal on display doesnt surprise me.
I like Warren and think he still worth reading…but his relevance is fast disappearing through stunts like this.

  31. The Liberno$ are trying to act like the Dimocrats in the US congress. No mater what the opposition does yell, holler, scream, they are trying to stop free speech or what ever. Yes every thing must be an outrage, even if they do the same thing. This is getting out of hand when you have so many drones in the liebrano party. May be clones is a better word.

  32. “I have no doubt in my mind that they would try to eradicate everything (done by Liberals in this country)”
Well then, Pearson is a good place to start; the recent call for the disbanding of the CIDA is a hopeful sign that the good work has begun in earnest. It was under the CIDA, and its predecessor External Aid, that the LPC’s demonstrated approach of government by unelected, behind-the-scenes operators was birthed.
Mo Strong was Director General of CIDA’s predecessor, External Aid, where his job was to deliver foreign aid. But instead of using (then) current government employees to do this, he used a Quebec firm — SNC-Lavalin — with the proviso that they only hire people approved by him. Later, when he became head of CIDA, he “had the unique authority to receive charitable donations — and issue tax deductible certificates — and give money directly to individuals, governments and private organizations.” (Henry Lamb, Freedom Org)
In other words, it was Pearson who gave ultimate Liberal insider/power-broker Maurice Strong the authority to transfer money, without accounting by taxpayers and voters, to individuals and non-governmental organizations as he saw fit, from a position where, by careful design, the only eyes and ears privy to the enterprise were members of his own hand-picked network.
That’s Liberal culture in a nutshell, and Pearson was the wellspring. That m.o. resulted in a proliferation of non-governmental organizations, including those at the 1972 Earth Summit. Lamb again: “(NGOs) were funded by (Trudeau’s government) to attend the conference to give the appearance of participation by the general public. Of course, only those NGOs personally selected by Strong received funding…This practice, started by Strong, of cloaking the (environmental) agenda in the perception of public grassroots support…culminated (at Rio) with the largest collection of NGOs ever assembled in support of Agenda 21. Only those NGOs that were ‘accredited’ by the UN Conference were permitted to attend. And only those which had demonstrated support for the agenda were funded.”
Strong biographer Elaine Dewer calls those NGOs “PGOs” — Private Government Organizations. I think “private government” is about as apt a description of the LPC’s demonstrated approach to Canadian democracy as you’ll ever find. In light of the entitlement given to ultimate Liberal insider Strong to internationally relocate taxpayers’ money through his private network, it’s easier to see how Kyoto got rolling, and how it could be that so many Liberals, including Chretien, apparently viewed the behaviours exposed during the Gomery commission as being private actions taken for sound reasons.
Perhaps instead of covering up Pearson’s display it should be taken on a cross-country tour, in the name of education. Kids could maybe press a button and see different factoids pop up about Pearson and Strong and the Liberal’s history: “Did you know that Maurice Strong, under Lester Pearson, is the grandfather of the idea that Canadian taxpayers’ money can be moved by unelected officials in behind-the-scenes private networks? It’s a Canadian fact!”

  33. Borat Dion on the statue.
“dis mr .person, he would be the grate est pry minister dat was in nine teen sixy, dat con serva tive part ty dat would ‘ide ‘is stashew from canadien piples and the you es governnn mint would be bad to the ress of us. WE ARE OUTRAGE to do dis , WE ARE OUTRAGE to do dat. pliz Mssr Arper to put back de last thing we do good for dis country.”

  34. EBD: At what point will we have the truth about the shadier side of the Liberal operatives’ history, starting with Mo Strong? It’s a story that needs to be told.
    Gawd, the man’s a weasel.

  35. pleace tell the mean sperited, devious, decietful conservitives to please put the statue right up front at all times, after all the Liberals have to have something they can se proud of

  36. I’m embarassed that Ralph Goodale comes from Saskatchewan.
In an email I wrote to him I told him so and that I couldn’t understand what he could possibly have in common with anybody from our province. I complained to him that he didn’t even consider SK when ratifying Kyoto, and told him I was furious with him.
He sent me a reply telling me that everything bad with the environment is Mr. Harper’s fault. If not for him Stefan Dion would have been able to do more.
What an idiot. Really, perhaps it’s old age, or a blockage or something, but the guy just doesn’t make sense.
I vote to throw him out of the province.

  37. Placing a backdrop for a televised conference / interview is routine.
Why do we Canadians never penalize any party for wasting $Thousands on fabricated stunts?
Why was *greenie Dion* never critisized for spending $14,000 [Montreal Hotel] and $5,550 [Limo]on Montreal Kyoto talks when his own house and bed are in Montreal?
    http://www.taxpayer.com/main/news.php?news_id=2499
When are the Liberals going to start being constructive for Canadians and stop wasting thousands of our tax dollars on fraudulent deceptions? = TG

  38. Some time ago, there was a post on this site about “derangement syndrome” complete with a picture of Al Gore completely losing it and issuing steam from his wide open mouth. There was some discussion about how easy it was to turn these “progressives” completely foamy-mouthed by saying things like “God bless Canada”.
I couldn’t find the post or I would provide a link.
Now it appears that anything that they remotely perceive to be disrespecting their secular saints quickly detonates the same derangement syndrome.
Like Ralph Goodale “doing an impression of a frenzied Prairie Chicken dancing for attention!”
    (Good stuff Liz J)
And then there’s the QP image of “Outrage” Willy Graham, with a mouth so wide a Suzuki tour diesel bus could drive in with ease.
Derangement syndrome… I think its working.

  39. Robert in Calgary: There are 230 comments on this story in the globe. You have to click on the comments for any story, then go down the right hand side of the page to find it under popular discussions or whatever. The paper and the ditso who wrote the story are getting blasted, and many are asking for a retraction. Go to the last comment and work up. The first several are before the CTV truth came out, so the PM is getting blasted.

  40. Wonder what all those libs would think of how high the Nobel Peace Prize is, and what a wonderful person that receives it is if Rush Limbaugh wins it this year. The libs should also mention that it was Lester Pearson who won it, not the liberals. Maybe they are unaware that Rush has been nominated, along with algore. So far suzuki has been missed. His nomination must have got lost in the mail.

  41. I have no doubt in my mind that they would try to eradicate everything that has been good by the Liberal party and by great Liberals in this country”
Would somebody mind taking the next 15-20 seconds, & respond with a summary of what these “Liberal good things” are?
I seem to be drawing a blank.
