    Author of the Sun Story goes on Lib blog and says there was no leak!
    Proves Ralphie knowingly engaged in a purely fabricated smear. (unlike, you know, the now true allegation that his office leaked).
    Here’s the statement:

It was very apparent from sitting through 19 months of the Air India trial who would be the obvious choices for investigative hearings – all the names came out during the evidence at the trial. After the trial, I wrote my book on Air India, called “Loss of Faith: How the Air India Bombers Got Away With Murder” and reviewed documents related to the one Supreme Court challenge of the investigative hearing provision, launched and lost by Satnam Reyat – the wife of the only man convicted.
    I have covered this story since 1985 so there are few mysteries or secrets. I first interviewed Darshan SINgh Saini back in 1988. I have a copy of parts of his police statement that came out during the Air India trial. The reason I wrote the story this week is because I just learned (through Sikh community contacts, not POLICE) that Saini was the father-in-law of Bains. I did not know that until very recently. I called up Saini and Bains and they confirmed it. I thought it was relevant.
    So don’t always look for a political conspiracy. In this case, there isn’t one.

    Which only serves to support the concerns that Dion’s folks knew very well the implications of who’s on the list.
    It also seems to put the Libs in the position of simply fabricating facts for their defence.
    The “it was all top secret and no one could have known” meme was made up whole cloth.
    And the chances of this being in the MSM? I’ll wait for my bacon to regenerate back into a full pig, sprout wings, and fly out of my fridge.

    – the Libs frantically try to silence Harper when he brings the above up,
    – Goodale then makes up a false allegation of a “leak”, smearing the PM, our intelligence, and the RCMP in the process,
    – and that false allegation has now been made known, which allegation suggests the Liberals are panicked and frantically trying to cover on this issue.
    Nope, no story there. Now, about that Pearson plaque that was covered up, now THAT’S a story!

    On Sunday morning, a cab driver in Nashville named Ibrahim Ahmed picked up two college students, Andrew Nelson and Jeremy Invus, at a city bar and drove them to the campus of Vanderbilt University. Along the way, the three got into an argument, apparently leaving Ahmed enraged: after they paid their fare and left his cab, he tried to run down Nelson and Invus. Nelson eluded the cab, but Ahmed hit Invus, who was seriously injured.
    What were they arguing about? The only widely available news reports on the incident are not very specific. Nashville’s WSMV reports that “a fight over religion became heated.” Newschannel 5, also of Nashville, has little more to add: “Police said Ibrahim Ahmed chased down visiting students Jeremy Invus and Andrew Nelson after an argument over religion.” Associated Press has it that “police said he ran over one of his passengers after they got into a religious argument.”

    “…the majority of funds raised by the Sikh group Babbar Khalsa International initially came from donations made by usually wealthy individuals who were sympathetic to the hard-line message and goals of the movement. For example, financing for one major trip to Pakistan, in which Talwinder Singh Parmar met with the country’s defence officials, was largely funded by a Sikh millionaire residing in the United States. The events of 1984, particularly the Indian military operation in the Golden Temple of Amritsar, allowed the BKI’s coffers to swell for a brief period of time, when hundreds of outraged Canadian Sikhs made contributions to the group.
    Federal Court of Canada documents reveal that Iqbal Singh, a member of the BK, provided its leader in India with the names of prominent members of the Canadian Sikh community, who could be approached about contributing to the organization. This individual also provided thousands of dollars to cover the legal fees and immigration expenses of family members who had committed hijackings on the Indian subcontinent. Singh also housed the wife and children of the one time leader of the BK while she was here in Canada. A Federal Court Justice found that this act was prearranged with the BK in India.
    Between collecting spare change in tin cans and finding a lucrative ‘sugar daddy’ there are a host of legitimate and quasi-legal fundraising techniques that terrorists and their supporters can engage in, and some of them are employed in Canada. …
    In the early 1990s, Revenue Canada (as it was then called) granted charitable status to an organization calling itself the Babbar Khalsa Society, located in Kamloops B.C. This was less than two years after Inderjit Singh Reyat was convicted of manslaughter in the Narita Airport explosion, the result of one of two bombs placed on Air India flights in 1985, the other killed 329 passengers, almost half of them Canadians, on flight 182.
    Repeated inquiries regarding the Babbar Khalsa Society were made during Question Period in the House of Commons by the Official Opposition, and were often treated with contempt by the Liberal Party of Canada and its leading cabinet ministers. On May 4, 1995, Val Merideth (Reform Party MP for Surrey White Rock) was told by David Anderson, then Minister of Revenue, in response to her inquiries regarding this one specific questionable organization that “The member is wrong to single out a particular organization of which there may be one or two individual members about whom I know nothing and attempt to blacken the entire status of all organizations dealing with immigrants.” Essentially, he tried to portray her as a racist.
    On June 5, 1995, Ms. Merideth again confronted the Liberal government with photos of Talwinder Singh Parmar (the lead suspect in the Air India bombing) surrounded by automatic rifles and RPG-7 anti-tank rockets and a quote in a Punjabi newspaper where he said that if anyone wants to commit suicide, they should board an Air India flight. Mr. Anderson’s response was again offensive and inadequate: “We are quite willing to accept the views of the hon. member that a picture of a member with guns surrounding him is evidence, but I suggest it is totally contradictory to the Reform Party’s gun policy that the mere presence of a photograph with weapons causes one to be investigated and causes one to lose charitable status.”
    In 1996, the charitable status of the Babbar Khalsa Society was revoked. The Liberal government only issued a small announcement in the Canada Gazette, an obvious attempt to minimize the impact and significance of the decision, which was a departure from past Liberal policy.
    There is some indication that Canadian authorities feared that Babbar Khalsa International had escalated the sophistication of their fund raising operations in the late 1990s. They began to look into the business activities of a close associate of Parmar, Pupiduman Singh Malik, who organized and ran both the Khalsa Credit Union and the Khalsa School in British Columbia. Malik now stands as one of the accused for the 1985 Air India Bombing. Ironically, he had earlier expressed open distain for Canadian society and its values and stated that the reason for creating the Khalsa School was a means of isolating Sikh children from it. Both of these organizations run by Malik have been the subject of police investigation.
    The Khalsa School received $2,000,000 annually in provincial government grants. In 1998, The RCMP Commercial Crime Squad raided the school looking for evidence of misappropriation of these funds. More disturbing was the allegation that a convicted hijacker who entered Canada with a false passport was allowed to live at the school. The Khalsa Credit Union was served search warrants in an investigation surrounding the financial activities of the Khalsa School.
    One of Malik’s colleagues in the dock for the Air India trial; Ajaib Singh Bagri, is being aided in his defence by the Babbar Khalsa International operating behind a British Columbian non-profit group called Sikh Vision. Two members of the BKI are working at the public’s expense on Bagri’s legal team. Sikh Vision’s mission statement is a touching one concerning peace and humanity, but their web-site has some very belligerent photographs of arms, armaments and Khalsa imagery on it.
    One of the ISYF’s main targets for cash generation was the Sikh temples located in Canada. Sikhs are enjoined to contribute to their temples, and the proceeds are invested in temple funds that are usually invested locally for the benefit of the temple and the wider community. In a large and prosperous community, the interest from temple funds can become impressive. Militant Sikhs had hoped to divert temple fund income to armed groups fighting in the Punjab, but first they needed to get their supporters elected onto the temples’ management committees. It was not unusual for considerable amounts of pressure, threats, and violence to be employed by these radicals, especially in the years immediately following Operation Blue Star and the assault on the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
    The battle for control of Sikh temples began when radicals from India began arriving here in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Pro-separatist activists from various factions quickly targeted the existing management committees run by second and third generation Sikh-Canadians. The fact that many of these Canadian-born Sikhs fully accepted Canadian values was offensive to the newly arrived radicals. In 1978, foreshadowing the violence that was yet to come, Beant Dhalawi was found dead after a C-clamp was placed on his skull and slowly tightened. He had been involved in a dispute at the temple located in Clearbrook, B.C.
    The second phase began as pro-separatists fought each other over control of the temples. The most pronounced battles were usually between the ISYF and the World Sikh Organization. Canada’s largest and most prestigious Sikh temple was the Ross Street Gurdwara in Vancouver. In 1985, the WSO won elections to control the management committee. The ISYF challenged them in another set of elections in 1990. Two shootings occurred during these latter elections, and are held by many Sikhs to have been tied to the contentious infighting. The university is about to name as its new president radical feminist Drew Gilpin Faust, following Lawrence Summers’s all-too-brief reign. Summers’s recklessly honest speculations about women in science strengthened the feminist hold on faculty hiring and promotions. The Task Force won a $50 million commitment to increase faculty “diversity efforts” at Harvard.
    As University President, Lawrence Summers in 2005 gave a speech where he dared to suggest that innate differences between men and women could explain why men hold more seats as top scientists than women. This is a plausible thesis. According to Dr Paul Irwing at Manchester University, there are twice as many men with an IQ of 120-plus as there are women, and 30 times as many with an IQ of 170-plus. There are other studies that indicate similar, disproportionate numbers of men among those with extremely high intelligence.
    Besides, even though Summers may have been wrong, it is dangerous to embark on a road where important issues are not debated at all. One of the hallmarks of Western civilization has been our thirst for asking questions about everything. Political Correctness is thus anti-Western both in its form and in its intent. It should be noted that in this case, feminists formed the vanguard of PC, the same ideology that has blinded our universities to the Islamic threat.
    It makes it even worse when we know that other feminists in academia assert that the veil, or even the burka, represents “an alternative feminism.” Dr. Wairimu Njambi is an Assistant Professor of “Women’s Studies” at the Florida Atlantic University. Much of her scholarship is dedicated to advancing the notion that the cruel practice of female genital mutilation (FGM) is actually a triumph for Feminism and that it is hateful to suggest otherwise. According to Njambi “anti-FGM discourse perpetuates a colonialist assumption by universalizing a particular western image of a ‘normal’ body and sexuality.”

  13. I wouldn’t fret about it, irwin daisy. The feminist is simply wandering about in the mist of postmodernism, with its cultural relativism, which rejects critical evaluation. Each mode of behaviour is as valid as another.
    So, if X-society considers that disease is caused by witches and the cure is to burn them, a feminist could assert that rejecting this view is a ‘colonizing act of universal westernism’. There will always be people making silly claims. No need to get upset – as long as science exists. And it will continue to exist.

  22. What a brave new world. I don’t have a link for this but it is on page 34 of Friday’s calgary sun. It seems that here in Alberta a child does not yet have the right to have 3 parents but we are on the road to making it legal to have four. Gay dad A and gay dad B made an arrangement with Lez mom C and lez mom D to create a couple of happy families. Why not,we are all progressive people out here. Unfortunately there was a falling out between papa A and Papa B.Papa A took little noodles away from papa B and papa B went to court for access. Papa B is HIV positive by the way.I don’t think that really matters but it is in the article.Papa A’s lawyers declare that allowing papa B access will cause the child confusion. Well,no shite,but anyways the court has granted access to papa B. So now this child has 2 gay dads and 2 lesbian mothers and a half-sister or brother out there too.. This kid will probably suffer ridicule and embarrassment throughout his/her life due to our brave new laws.I would love for the media to air this story but it will not happen because we are such a progressive society and it is best to sweep the idiocy under the rug.

    There’s a home Calgary Flames game versus San Jose Sharks and I feel like I”m watching a Sharks home game.
    Everything about Cheechoo, the Sharks line, their power play and every time they touch the puck it sounds like a sure goal.
    Problem is Flames are leading 2-0 in the first.
    Totally disgusted with CBC, only time I watch CBC is HNIC…but will try a trick a friend does, put the game on mute and have the radio dial on CFRN.
    I’m going to phone CBC and ask what city are they located in on Memorial Drive. Maybe some others should.

  25. Another plant closing in Ont, and this is before the kyoto targets are in place. Moving the jobs to Mexico. How many more jobs will be lost before kyoto hits us. Those in position to make these decisions know what it will cost them to meet said targets, so are getting out of Canada now and going to a country that is exempt. The libs signed on to this, with no thought, and companies know that it is the GTA that supports the libs.

Lots of comments re Justin seeking a nomination, who will win the Que election and of course PMSH bashing re his attempt to read the Van Sun into Hansard. Also lots of talk re who will replace Graham as a liberal candidate, and it seems that hetrosexuals need not apply. Gay minister and lesbian lawyer activist seeking the job, and of course Bob Rae. I didn’t know that riding was populated by the gay and lesbian crowd, and many didn’t vote for Graham because he is half in and half out of the closet. From all the info there, it is no wonder the liberals were in favor of ssm. Payback time for the g/l vote across the country. If they changed their minds on this, to payback voters, is it any wonder they have become soft on terror, to pay back another bloc of voters. Lots of talk about how buying carbon credits is the way to go. Those posters are convinced that money will be used to help those countries turn green. Not one mention of Strong. Those people are strange. Some are predicting a PQ victory, which means a Dion majority. Impossible to go to bed with that fresh in my mind, so had to come and catch up on intelligent posts.
