CTV;
Liberal Leader Stephane Dion accused the Conservatives on Tuesday of lacking the kind of convictions that he said his own party has on various issues.
Some jokes just write themselves.
Update Commentor Patrick notes that the CBC’s parliamentary reporter Julie Van Dusen “is now Dion’s official media interpreter”;
“Mr. Harper will never be able to imitate these convictions and Canadians know this,” he said.
Julie Van Dusen, a CBC News parliamentary reporter, said with that comment, Dion is trying to suggest the Conservatives are only concerned with staying in power.
“The Liberals feel like they can attack this approach Mr. Harper has, saying it is really just about winning seats,” she said.
“The Liberals are saying Mr. Stephen Harper is an impostor on this issue,” she added, referring to the environment.
One wonders why. It’s not as though he was speaking in French. CBC does, however, offer this;
During his speech, Dion stressed his ties to Quebec, which he called a “cradle of civilization” in Canada.
Phil Fontaine – call your office.

Criminals have convictions. As do the Fibs.
DION: Convictions that his party has
Hopefully the “RCMP Adscam probe” will result in some “Liberal Convictions”
Funny the gaffe-prone Dion speaks of convictions.
Well, I see convictions in the future for Liberals. All the obvious crime committed… there’s gotta be convictions sooner or later! Justice must be done!
Guess Steffie ain’t so smart after all… didn’t see this coming…
Convictions… oh, yeah… for Liberals.
Another round of unfortunate public response over at the Globe and Mail. Their article today about this Dion pout is titled “Dion lashes out at Conservatives” and we should expect the comments to shut down soon. Waaaaay too many people love the words “conviction” and “Liberal” in the same sentence.
I thought only mean-spirited people “lash out”?
How soon might the Basi Boys (and their friend Mark Marissen, the Dion Election Co-Chair) be facing the same combination of words in a BC courthouse?
“It is the conviction, this conviction that we have as Liberals. Convictions about social justice in this country, about economic prosperity.here in Canada and abroad, the role of Canada in the world. This conviction will never be copied by Mr. Harper.”
SOCIAL JUSTICE (definition)
“People who work, cutting cheques to people who don’t” … This is the one that makes me crazy …
Dion is a bloated Robin Hoodlum
And the root word of “convictions” is “convict” or is it “con”?
This is choice! From the CBC website report on the Dion “convictions” caucus comment:
—————-
“”Mr.
———————
Julie van Dusen is now Dion’s official media interpreter, apparently. From attack dog in the Press Gallery’s shameful attempt to label Harper as a dictator, now she morphs into a Liberal mouthpiece. Unbiased reporting, anyone?
I bet quite a few connected with the Liberal party wish they had fewer convictions. He he.
This is outragious that you all are trying to stick this onto Dion.
It’s not as if Dion was Lib back then……check that….
well its not as if he was a cabinet minister then….no wait…..
but he wasn’t a Quebec cabinet minister, the situs of the corruption…….he was?…..
well he wasn’t involved in the portfolio dealing with the subject matter of the scandal – keeping Quebec from seperating…………..oh, that too huh….
Okay, but……Dion’s dog is named Kyoto, so…you know……
I am betting the Liberals will try for an early election. That way they can bounce this loser and elect a leader with whom they can be comfortable with, one that has true Liberal values. Alfonse Gagliano.
“Canadians will not be fooled,” Dion told his caucus as it met in Quebec City
How about when Dion set unrealistic Kyoto targets and got outperformed by the evil Bush?
How about when the Lieberals fooled Canadians on the GST?
On rolling back NAFTA?
When Trudeau campaigned against wage and price control, then when elected, he swiftly brought in wage and price control?
Also there’s that term “social justice” again. The Democrats use it all the time too. It’s a cliché. Nobody knows what it means in their daily lives. Dion says it repeatedly like a rapper.
Yep, how many more convictions will we get from the LIEberal taxpayer ripoff known as Adscam?
Only your neighbourhood serving Justice really knows!
Gomery Part Deux anybody?
I wonder if the CTV had to translate what Steffie actually said.
Or if Steffie was simply repeating words he practiced which were given to him by some spin doctor…
In which case, he probably didn’t know what he was talking about.
Oh, wait! He actually doesn’t know what he’s talking about much of the time anyway!
“Dion said the Liberals are well-placed to deliver the kind of action plan”
action plan
action plan
action plan
We all know from experience that the only action that groups that use the phrase “action plan” is the action of them flapping their gums.
Lieberal campaign motto
CONVICTions R’US
Dion’s World:
The words “social justice” are code words for socialism. Dion is a socialist, through and through. …-
F A Hayek – Adam Smith Institute
The topics include Hayek’s understanding of the market process; his critique of socialism and the meaningless term of social justice, and Hayek’s …-
http://www.adamsmith.org/hayek/home.htm
is his action plan related to the former “group action plan” ?? He must be a sacrificial lamb for the liberals in the next election.
CBC Van Dusen, Liberal Party Interpeter: The liberals feel like they can attack this approach mr harper has, saying it is really just about winning seats she said.
Thats pretty rich coming from “the Natural hypocritical party”
Win at All Cost
Proud to be sorely lacking in those liberal “convictions”
The “cradle of civilization in Canada”? Is Dion daft? That’ll get votes outside Quebec.
Or did he mean to say Quebec is a big cry baby that is “pampered” with disproportionate transfer payments and other perks?
Liberal Lite, a humorous grit blog, began a joke the other day as follows:
A life long supporter of the Liberal party was lying on his death bed…
To which I replied, “Doesn’t surprize me”. No sign that LiberalLite ever understood. Oh well.
“cradle of civilization”?
I think he’s overdosed on poutine. Quick, get him off to one of those new private clinics to have his arteries cleaned out.
“Phil Fontaine – call your office.”
LOL. Well-placed cutting sarcasm is one of the reasons Kate remains at the top of the blog sites.
Strange – speaking of one’s ‘convictions’. The G&Mail has a national poll asking the same question that the local Toronto Sun is asking:
“One year after being elected, how would you rate the performance of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his government?
Excellent 40%
Good 29%
Fair 16%
Poor 15%
Total Votes for this Question: 7500
The Globe Poll is asking the same question, with over 33,000 results. But, the answers are the exact opposite, with 50% replying ‘badly’ and only 20% in the ‘good/excellent’ category.
Hmmm. That doesn’t make sense. It’s the same question.
I actually saw that G&M poll, and thought it strange that it would be so out of wack of previous polls (gone wrong – supporting the CPC), and suspected something was up. With the TO Star poll, something’s definitely fishy.
ET the Globe poll was at over 32,000 votes this morning…don’t know what time they put it up but at 0900 today it was over 40% BAD!
One wonders………..
By the way, with regard to Dion’s reference to Quebec as ‘the cradle of civilization’ – it’s part of the Liberal Plan to Win, Win, Win. At all costs. He’s after Quebec votes. He needs them.
That’s what he was after, as well, with his recent trip to Alberta, where he insulted all the hard working people out there by defining their work as ‘easy money’. He wants that money – to give to Quebec. His whole agenda, with that ‘easy money’ insult was meant to be heard in Quebec. He wants to show Quebecers that if he’s the leader, he’ll get Alberta money. For Quebecers.
He has one agenda. One. Winning. He said it himself at the convention – and so did his mentor, Chretien – who has always had only the same goal. Winning. Not the good of Canadians. That’s irrelevant. Just winning.
Dion’s agenda of winning is to get Quebec votes from the Bloc. So, he has to show Quebecers that he can get them More Money (which is all they are interested in vis-a-vis Canada) than the Bloc.
And, he has to get the Ontario vote from the NDP latte crowd. For that, he has to go all warm and fuzzy about Kyoto – despite its being The New Corrupt Scam of the UN. And, he has to be anti-American. Those two tactics/policies are to get that vote.
So, he has three policies. First, get Alberta money; that will get him votes in Quebec. Second, be all warm and fuzzy about the environment and Kyoto in particular. And be anti-American. That will get him the NDP and latte vote. Those are the three Liberal policies – otherwise defined, by Dion as: economic strategy, the environment, and social justice.
That 12 page profile in the G&M showed that Citoyen Dion’s whole life has revolved around the Quebec question ( when he wasn’t studying in Paris); he was for separation before he was against it and then he became the champion of federalism and then the so-called author of the Clarity Act. Quebec is all he is concerned with. The status of Quebec is his life’s work. He really has no knowledge of nor interest in the rest of the country. That’s why his shadow cabinet is so large; he needs lots and lots of help in matters affecting the ROC because for him that is a foreign country.
But riddle me this, why would the people of Ontario want to vote for another PM whose main focus is on governing in the interests of Quebec? Because I just don’t understand it.
Was that Julie van Deusen under the mop???
I couldn’t tell.
What I find strange about the discrepancy between the Toronto SUN poll and the Globe and Mail poll, which both ask the same question – is that in the Globe, there’s also a story on Dion, and the comments against Dion are extremely strong. So, where’s the hostility against Harper coming from?
So- the Globe poll doesn’t make sense. The SUN and Globe are asking the same question but with polar different responses. When you’ve got that kind of discrepancy – something is wrong.
Because so many previous polls went wrong, might these be fabricated numbers in this newest poll?
Nah. The Globe and Mail wouldn’t do that.
32,000 votes at 0900!
Actually, I saw the same G&M poll and I believe (but can’t prove) that it’s a fake. Because I had some free time, I started monitoring the numbers over the course of an hour.
The results are updated every 30 seconds or so. The numbers are following a pattern where the total number of votes cast increases by between 30 to 60 on every update…with the “Very Well” or “Excellent” responses always a little ahead (seeming to gain ground). Then, about every 10th update, there is a “snap” where there are suddenly 100-175 new votes. The surge of votes on these big changes always favours the “Badly” answer by between 63 and 65% – with a marked increase in the “Only Fair” response leading up to the surge. In fact, when these surges happen, the “Only Fair” bulge is always reduced…and then begins climbing again at a fairly steady rate. The predictability of that point alone makes this poll very suspect.
The pattern is not precise, and they may actually be taking in some votes – which would skew it enough to make it so that it is not obviously fake.
Anyway, if I have indeed found a pattern, the overall change in percentages won’t exceed 2 points…which has been true for at least the last four hours.
I wonder… What would happen if Stelmach asked for a constitutional opinion on how the clarity act applied to Alberta?
You know the advice they give an abused spouse?
“Walk away”
“Some jokes write themselves.”
The ‘convictions’ word from the leader of the Liberals is the perfect instance.
Harper doesn’t have enough convictions eh, Stephane?
But this is no joke, Stepahane.
Let’s talk about convictions Stephane, Liberal convictions like Brault and Guite for starters.
Personally I would like some of the crooked no account bastards that initiated and then turned blind and willfull eyes as the trusting Canadian citizenry was robbed.
Liberal government malfeasance.
And here is the worst part.
During a decade of gross theft Canadian mainstream media slumbered in Liberal lickspittle journalistic contentedness which enabled the malfeasance to exist.
Investigative journalism only a figment of fantasy
while the corruption thrived tainting even the very supposed investigating authorities that played loosely with the rules.
For the sake of Canadians there needs be more convictions with real prison time.
Yet one cannot feel at ease as most of the journalists who saw no evil appear anxious to again embrace a party that has as its leader a citizen of another country and who was in Cabinet during the malfeasance.
Yeah, Stephane, let’s have more Harper convictions – the felons from the former government for malfeasance !
No account thieves!!
Just as a guess … I have seen polls on different sites influenced by people creating scripts which delete cookies, switch IP and vote in order to vote thousands of times.
And another poll, asking essentially the same question – ie – how do you feel about Harper’s first year – in the Ottawa Sun. ‘Yes’ is 71% and ‘No’ is 29%. Total votes: 2,560.
This is indeed very strange. Regardless of numbers – and I find the G&M early-morning count of 30,000 odd responses a bit much – how can these polls, asking the same question, provide polar responses? The G&M is the exact opposite of both the Toronto and Ottawa Sun responses.
Who is tinkering with what?
Anybody seen the most recent poll numbers? Even after Harper’s bogus green blitz, the cons are still gonna lose the next election.
On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to congratulate Harper on doing what’s best for Canada; losing the next election ASAP.
Don’t you just love a liberal media bias? Isn’t that the best joke of all? ROFL!
“The Liberals feel like they can attack this approach Mr. Harper has, saying it is really just about winning seats,” she said.
“The Liberals are saying Mr. Stephen Harper is an impostor on this issue,” she added, referring to the environment
As ET said, the legacy of pursuit of power for its (LPC) own sake clearly belongs to the Liberals, not PMSH
What an inane argument anyway. Everyone wants to “win seats.”
BTW, I didn’t read what Van Dusen thought of Harper’s view of this issue. Oh well, here we go again, pulling out all the stops.
Last time the Lib/Press Club made nice with Harper, they underestimated him and he went and won on them.
They won’t make the same mistake this time, but they sure are off to an early start.
Now that Harper’s honeymoon is over, I guess it’s time for Dion’s, courtesy of CBC, CTV, G&M, TorStar and others.
who’s payroll is the moptop Van Dusen on. Liberals or the taxpayers?
I just watched Susan Bonner sneer at the Conservative Prime Minister and the anniversary party going on in Ottawa. Froth was foaming from her mouth she was so filled with hate – it did not look fake.
Those poor fools; do they really think that the Liberano Dioidites care about them, personally? She would be tossed out like a rotten egg if her ‘useful idiot’ status was deemed not useful to the bigshots. The baby mentality of the people who broadcast the news is astounding – some of those people are past 25 chronologically, aren’t they? Maybe they just look old, certainly no lines on their faces were caused from deep philosophical thought.
Mary loony and Susy small IQ were all smiles and sunshine when reading lines for language challenged French citizen Dion. Bias? Palatable. Fair? Not likely in this blind French citizen Dion Canadian idol hero worshipping cult. Value for money? Not unless you like working like a slave.
Time to get a new crew on the stools because what we have now are pidgeons on the stools and they are working for the Liberanos – not the people that pay them.
I jusdt thought of another joke some of you may like.
Ain’t it grand that your hard earned tax dollars are paying for this Liberal media bias from the CBC?
Ain’t Canada great?
Here’s another joke I didn’t have to dream up or doesn’t take millions of tax dollars and bribe money to make:
EVERYTHING A QUANTUM LIBERAL POSTS IS A JOKE.
Bwahahahahahahaa!
Some more illustrative stuff from G&M…
see : http://www.dustmybroom.com/?p=5515
Rancorous commentary from some moonbats on the subject of Canada standing against terrorism!
Hold your nose….
Doug, how can that possibly be as funny as conservative tax payers paying for the CBC?
LMAO!
I have to go now, I think I blew out a kidney laughing about that last one.
Happy last anniversary.
Been reading these blogs all year and we all bitch and complain about the CBC and that it should be shut down and these idiots all sacked.Do we not have any Conservatives with an IN that can tell us how to do it.We are shouting and screaming and pulling out our hair, because of these CBC idiots, but we dont have any ideas on how to put a stop to it.And dont say e,mail the ombudsman, nothing will happen. Is there no one in power that has authority over these idiots? Is this our (Canadas) radio & TV station or the Liberals. If its Canadas it should be shut down and investigated for treason.

Here’s a better one for you, QL. Did you hear that when the late Pope lay dying he asked if Chretien and Martin could come and visit him before he passed on. Dutifully the two Liberals met with the Pope in his bedroom. He asked them to sit on either side of his deathbed. Once enscounced in the proferred chairs the two Liberals looked at each other and then looked at the Pope who now had a nice little smile on his wizened face. Chretien asked the Pope why he wanted the two of them there and the Pope said ( This is Priceless) “I wanted to die like the Lord with a crook on either side of me!”
“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.” — Ayn Rand, The Nature of Government
Some of these “Older” gals, like Susan Bonner, Julie Van Dusen and Kathleen Petty are beginning to get bitter. As a female, I have seen this happen many times at a “certain age”. Unfortunately these babes should be replaced.
