Bill C – 257

Gerry Nicholls;

When it comes to politics I have a general rule of thumb: If the NDP and the Bloc Quebecois agree about an issue, then you know it’s bad for Canada.
Case in point is Bill C – 257, which the Bloc Quebecois is pushing through the House of Commons. It’s a bad bill, which if enacted, would deny freedom of choice to unionized employees and drive away investment from Canada.
So what is Bill C – 257?
Well essentially it would make it illegal for federally-regulated companies to hire replacement workers during labour disputes.
And the bill’s definition of “replacement workers” includes unionized employees who may wish to defy their union bosses and cross a picket line during a strike.

    You can find crooks everywhere. I never claimed that you won’t find crooks in organized labour. But it seems that for people like you, union leaders merit special attention, or do you think that they more corrupt than any other group? Unlike those honest corporate leaders, eh? Even if you found a list with 100 incidents involving crooked union leaders, the money still wouldn’t equal what was lost just by Nortel shareholders. Union crooks are penny ante when compared to corporate crooks.
    I’d love to respond to the other comments, but this thread is going stale so there’s no point. It appears that most of the knee jerk reaction here is from people who have educated themselves via the MSM (which as we know, is always right…not!) or from hearsay accounts. What an incredible display of ignorance.
