It’s all well and good to, for a show, ‘fine’ a member of the Liberal Party, with the ‘fine’ going to the Liberal Party. But, how about that same Liberal Party paying its ‘fines’?? How about those millions that it laundered from the taxpayer, to pay its election campaign expenses in Quebec?
And how about those hundreds of thousands for its lunches, trips, trips of friends, oh, and packages of gum?
Does anyone know the status of this $20,000 fine? Is it covered under the limitations that apply to leadersip campaign contributions? If not, any well-heeled Liberal, and there are many, could cover this fine without even breaking a sweat.
Yup–looks pretty slimy. Except I will give Volpe and his team the benefit of the doubt since it is Friday and because of this:
Joseph Volpe and his campaign team accepted responsibility for the inappropriate activity, yet the panel found no evidence to suggest that Mr. Volpe or his senior campaign workers had actual knowledge of the wrongful purchase of memberships.
However, methinks Volpe’s team needs to bone up on their reading on these regulations.
( But they should also face the fact that Volpe will never lead this party.)

Seeing as he’s the best the Librano$ can do for an interim leader, there should be no surprises when the “real” (sic) leader stands up: There’s not one in the bunch that’s got the qualities of a true leader: honesty, vision, the good of Canada first and foremost in their sights, an abhorrrence of sleaze and corruption.
With the Librano$, no matter who they choose as their leader, it’s going to be the same old, same old: Just elect us and we’ll see to it that the usual suspects get lots of perks and cash to keep us in power.

I thought it was illegal to post the result of voting until all the polls closed. With the msm touting that Iggy is ahead, as of Friday, what would happen if all those voting Sat and Sun decided to vote anyone but iggy. If he continues to lead after today, could the others cry foul, as many voters just followed the crowd. Wonder how many of the delegates from AB, BC and Sask will actually attend, due to the cost. Airfare will be horrendous, registration of 975.00 plus hotels and meals, who wants to waste 3000./plus with Christmas coming.

Can. is checking the bank accounts and credit cards of all the delegates to see where the money is coming from. When a political party gets to the point of willfully appointing a ‘made’ member of an organized crime family to an important government post, it is a signal that the party is so corrupt that it can no longer exercise oversight.
By that time, your party is a nest of vipers. Too many people have stuff on other people. Too many people owe favors they can’t mention to other people. Organized crime is always pulling the strings, and getting rid of them is like trying to remove Cosa Nostra from the teamsters’ union.
We should be reminded that for organized crime to place a capo or soldier into the Public Works Ministry, they have to have become entrenched. This means that corruption has insidiously become such a traditional way of doing business in the party that the criminals cannot be gotten rid of.
This kind of corruption can only take place gradually over long periods of time, like say, for example, garbage collection unions and companies on much of the eastern seaboard.
You can’t just go to the principals and say “let’s purge this place”, because many of the principals are connected to the syndicate themselves. And furthermore, they probably have something incriminating on the one who shows up to ask.

I’m looking forward to reading a book about all this called The Sixth Family. Apparently, what started off as a Bonanno enclave in Canada actually grew to such proportions that it is literally a sixth family (the reference being to the five Mafia families in New York City).
The Montreal Mafia has huge, far-reaching ties internationally and enterprises everywhere. Obviously, with the control of the Liberal Party of Canada, there is virtually nothing that they can’t influence.
