The Eastern Front

PM

As if there wasn’t enough with a burning hot spot, Hindustan Times reports that Indian intelligence services officially blame Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as the mastermind of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai that killed about 200 people.

Ed Morrissey;

Clearly these attacks received heavy assistance from outside the country. If Pakistan’s spies conducted this operation, then Pakistan has committed an act of war against India — and that will get a lot more serious than an Israeli incursion into Lebanon. Both nations have nuclear weapons, although both at the moment have rational leaders who will not want to test the MAD strategy all the way to its conclusion. If Musharraf wants to avoid touching off a punishing ground war, he had better get control of his ISI in a big hurry.
If, on the other hand, AQ masterminded the plot, it does not let Musharraf off the hook. He needs to get serious about flushing Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri from their caves in Waziristan before they get him and a lot of Pakistanis killed.

  1. If true, this would prove to be very ugly.
If there were rogue elements in Pakistan’s ISI, then the consequences would be still uglier.
Political destabilization of two nuclear powers, oh joy.

  2. exactly what I was thinking Hans, …just lovely…gees, just what we don’t need.
Seems to be a hot summer everywhere.

  3. This is much more serious than the current Israeli situation. And if and when it blows up Canadians are sitting right in the middle of it all in Afghanistan. I say bring them home. There is nothing worthwhile doing over there anymore if it costs one more Canadian’s life. Let all these people hack, shoot and bomb themselves back to the dark ages. I just don’t care anymore.
Bring our men and women home.

  4. John . . let me be the first to pee in your cornflakes . . . Dumb as a bag of hammers idea.
Cutting & running from Afghanistan because something might happen on the border of Pakistan & India would be perceived by the Islamo-whack jobs as weakness.
Stay the course, monitor the situation. Make a plan for Just in Case

  5. and I just HAD to turn on cbc just to see, they are doing the usually ME crisis with “Israel is striking Lebanon ALL BECAUSE two soldiers were kidnapped”… from the little snot of an announcer…what’s ‘er face.
Meanwhile the cbc ticker tape is reading that our troops have a crisis on their hands, they are out of donuts and supplies are a low priority..
And as far as the that converted Muslim saying he did it for Muslims even over all other Canadians safety. Remember “holy hypocrisy” is a doctrine of this guys Islam. Taqiyyalope is the name of this guy to me, I think something bigger is in the works by these scum bags and the sect they form.
I trust them like I trust saudi arabia claiming it condems Hezbollah/Hamas in it’s attacks on Israel.
Again taqiyya IS a common practice by whabbists.

  6. John – how many Canadian lives do you think will get it in the future if the WOT is retreated from? Decades of ignoring these maniacs all the way back to the Munich Olympics have got us what? They didn’t go away. What has it gotten the Israelis except missiles lobbed into their neighborhoods? Clinton/Carter ignored North Korea and it has gotten us a lunatic with a nuclear bomb. Clinton ignored Bin Laden and the world got his video broadcast taking credit for 9/11. The UN/France/Russia are ignoring Iran while it assembles its nuclear bomb. Europe has ignored the growing menace of their immigration policies and they have gotten train explosions as a result.
Has appeasement worked? Has ignoring Islamofascism worked? Will retreating make it any better? We are all going to be sitting in the middle of the Iranian bomb at some point. Where do we retreat to then?

  7. Just because ISI may have been involved does not mean the Pakistani govt was involved. There are many rogue elements within the ISI — in fact, the Taleban is (and remains) a wholly owned subsidiary of the ISI (or factions thereof).
India has sufficient intelligence resources to neutralise the ISI. There is no need for a full scale war, and the Indian leadership is sufficiently level-headed not to fall for any provocations.
Of course, now US arms sales to Pakistan will probably be jeopardised.

  8. Fred and penny: I figured my comment would get a rise from someone.
The problem I have with the war on terrorism is that it is not being fought intelligently. The terrorists are the Kamikazi Fighters of WWII. If we had spent all our time fighting the Kamikazi Fighters we would have lost that war.
    To refresh some memories…
We won WWII because 1.1 million Canadians fought and 42,042 died, 12.1 million Americas fought and 291,000 died, 5.8 million Brits fought and 357,000 died. Plus all our allies’ casualties. The USSR lost 6 million soldiers in the mud and slime of WWII.
We finally won the war because two big bombs were dropped on strategic cities in Japan. If America had not done that a few hundred thousand more brave men would have died before the war was finally won.
As long as America and her allies insist on fighting the war on terrorism in street fights and caves I’ll not support it. We can end this bullshit very quickly. We know who is supporting the terrorists. We know the names and the countries they live in and rule. The Americans are making the same mistake they made in Vietnam.
Any real fighter knows that if you climb into the ring you need to be prepared to do whatever you can to win. America, Britain and all her allies are not. Till they do I do not want my sons going over to give their lives because a small group of inbred bastards who want to control the world decide they want to stretch this thing out for their own ends.
We have terrorists in Canada who want to hack off each of your heads and institute Sharia law. We need to round them up, and all their supporters, and ship them back to where they came from first. That would be a fight I would heartily support.

  9. I’m with you on that John C. Can’t help but notice that Japan has been very well behaved for the last 60 years.
All we have to decide on, John – where are we going to drop it, huh?
I vote for Mecca during the Hadj.

  10. John C. and I’m with John: Those comments expressed are just a touch murderous and genocidal, aren’t they (sarcasm)? Perhaps you could tone down the rhetoric a bit and still get your point across?
Wouldn’t this kind of thinking be similar to what led up to the Japanese internment in WWII? Round up the innocent with the guilty?
I would agree with rounding up the vocal dissidents in Canada and shipping them off to wherever they came from…but blindly doing so to all is just not right.

  11. Hassle. You’re right of course. I didn’t mean to round up every Muslim. Two of my doctors are Muslim. I love them both and trust my life with them. But I was also told by another Muslim that he could take me to a mosque in Vancouver where about 60% were either terrorists in waiting or sending money back home to support them.
And the vocal ones have to go. Why is it that an ordinary Canadian (of any race or colour), who was either born in Canada or immigrated, cannot criticize without running the risk of being sued for slander or charged with a hate crime while these guys can run off at the mouth and say they want to kill all infidels, which is like saying they want to kill most Canadians, and the law does nothing about it. And our politicians support them. Something is going to give one of these days and it will probably happen south of the border, unless Canadians lose their temper first. That is not good and the fault will be with our politicians and their silly rules of multculturalism and political correctness.

  12. John!! this is not the time to wimp out and leave to hang alone!!!
Just because ‘hassle’ cannot get his/her thinking around why people fly aircraft full of people into buildings x 2, does not mean you and I have to bite our tounges in the name of simpering multiculti self-mastabatory euphoria.
We read of car bombings on a daily basis in the cradle of civilisation. Not forgetting the beheadings of innocents captured on video, and ‘hassle’ has the unmittigated gall to suggest that we are ‘a touch murderous and genocidal’.
These multiculti’s say we should just turn the other cheek. Well, I did. I dropped my jeans and invite them to kiss my right cheek.

  13. Personally I think we should round up the CBC into camps, with David Suzuki & other jihadist sympathizers. Socialists all. With there other comrades in Entitlement land.
I fear them more than the majority of Muslims.
If only because of there servile submissiveness, wedded to drive by treason.
Naive fools , mixed in with real sympathizers. Inevitably means disaster. If not a moral buster b people who have an agenda, more than reason or patriotism.
Like some one said else said online. I am finished calling them liberals as well. There Marxists or Socialist. Fast & slow motion suicide machines themselves. As is the cult they have allied themselves with.
Pakistan as I have stated before is playing a double game. That will end up in there own holocaust if not stopped.
Using the nuclear option. Would be like clobbering a maggot with a cannon. It should only be used in response to an atomic attack by them. Just my thoughts on it.

  14. I’m as tough as anyone when it comes to a fight. I’ve lost my share and won my share over the years. I’m not wimping out. But I know some very decent Arabs and also some very decent Muslims. When we pick a fight and choose a target we need to fully understand the enemy. I do. The enemy is radical Islam and the people who are profiting from it.
During WWII we knew who the enemies were and we defeated them. If Islam is a religion of peace it is past time for the peaceful ones to stand up and be counted. And it’s time for our politicians to identify who the enemy is and stop playing politics.
The real enemies are the countries and individuals that support the terrorists and incite them to do what they do, that preach hatred masked as religion, that strap explosives around their young people and send them out to kill other young people. The real enemies are those who still preach hatred against 600 year old foes. The real enemies are those who cannot look forward to a better future and a better world but insist on looking back as a way to incite their young into useless and bloody battles that lead nowhere.
We know who these people are. It’s time to take them out. But we are not doing that. We are instead sending our own young people over to the other side of the world to fight a dirty war that is staged and orchestrated by a few evil and inbred people who could care less for them or for you or me, and who benefit big time as our young people die in some god-forsaken ditch alone.
I know exactly who the real enemies are. There are several. Bastards all.

  15. John C:
I read a book about the planned amphibious invasion of japan.
casualty estimates started at 1,000,000. see, the thing was, unlike normandy and d-day, invading japan would be done against hostile land, not occupied friendly land. the japanese citizens had been prepared to turn themselves into human kamikazes.
namby pambyists forget this when bemoaning hiroshima. the alternative would have been horrendous and unprecedented slaughter in any war before or since. remember, the americans and allies would have been landing on beaches swarming with frenzied locals, thats never happened in modern times.
the namby pambyists also ignore events in Nanking in 1933 where the death toll was somewhere between 100,000 and 300,000 mostly civilians at the hands of the japs who used them for example bayonet practice.
the message of nagasaki was ‘hellloooo !! hello tokyo !! new variables in the war equation here !! its NO LONGER a war of attrition. we DO NOT need to step foot on your beaches until you are all dead. so, what will it be? ‘
we need a similar event in the ME to finally dissuade arabists from fantisizing about defeating Israel.

  16. RE:”we should round up the CBC into camps, with David Suzuki & other jihadist sympathizers”
From wikipedia: “internment in British Columbia during the Second World War from when he was six (1942) until after the war ended. In June 1942, the government sold the Suzuki family’s dry-cleaning business, then interned Suzuki, his mother and two sisters in a camp in the Slocan Valley in the BC Interior. His father had been sent to a labour camp in Solsqua, two months earlier. Suzuki’s sister, Dawn, was born in the internment camp.”
After the war, Suzuki’s family, like other Japanese Canadian families, was forced to move east of the Rockies.”
RDream: You’re a nice guy. D’ya think David Suzuki could get credit for time served in your camp?

RDream: You’re a nice guy. D’ya think David Suzuki could get credit for time served in your camp?
Obviously you have never seen reverse sarcasm. I am no fan of Camps in any guise. This was a swiftonian barb aimed at the MSM. Of whom Suzuki is part & parasol of with diamonds.
They where to happy to oblige Governments back then, & still seem to squeal, to the Socialist love call.
Frankly, I do see some as active traitors to this Nation & freedom. When the law is finally straightened after the faux Liberal regime instituted there injustice procriminal system.
Meanwhile you can bet as the war heats up there will be cries for camps of all sorts. For captured jihadists certainly.
The neo Marxist criminal regime was sustained by these folks as they feed on there country men’s toil.
A call also to looting, theft, sundry other forms of criminality, in disguise as tolerance . Equality, with the equity myth, thrown in.
This club also has created a climate of fear in the Nation that makes the McCarthy era look tame. At least in his time there where no HRC kangaroo courts.
Turncoats should be convicted by there peers in a courts of law like anyone else.
