Gag me with a (silver) spoon!

OK, OK, that saying died a warranted death many years ago, but it fits, dammit. Gerry over at the National Citizens Coalition has graciously posted his op-ed column in the Globe & Mail (behind a subscription wall), where he asks Belinda if she intends to honor her signed pledge to oppose gag laws.
I find it encouraging that the Globe has it under “Top Stories,” don’t you?
You can view the pledge on Gerry’s blog.

  1. Saw that. Heh. B.S. must be hoping the MSM keeps its mouth shut. Probably has to bribe them to do so.
Too bad we can’t put a commercial on during CSI pointing out Boo-linda’s about-face.
Boo! Rich bimbo! What say she?

  2. Well, it’s in the Globe, so she could ignore it, but that would be dangerous. Her signature is on a piece of paper, after all, and it’s only a couple of years old…

  3. Do any of you get the feeling the MSM senses that the tide is turning in Canadian politics and they’re realizing that they must prepare themselves a little better for dealing with a party that does’t really give a damn about them? Do any of you think that maybe they are not going to be as receptive to supporting the Liberals’ vaunted dirty tricks campaign when it begins?
I get the feeling that this is getting seriouser and seriouser for the Liberals by the minute.

  4. I’m glad to hear John Crittenden say something about the tide turning with the media. A case in point is CTV’s coverage of the income trusts. Such a story is bound to hurt the Liberals in this election, especially with senior voters who lost so much. Still, CTV is pushing it, and now they’re pushing this ‘Old and Confused’ statement coming out of Goodale’s office.
    Wow!

  5. old squid. Damn. I had sworn off both CTV and CBC. Ditto MSM newspapers. Just don’t have any use for them anymore since I no longer heat with wood. Maybe you will have to keep me up to date. 😉

  6. John,
It’s all over the Internet, friend. A good place to start is on Kinsella’s site.
May I respectfully ask that you place your vow(about the MSM) on hold, until 24 Jan 2006. You know, as in, ” keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer”…..

  7. old aquid. Actually, my comment was tongue in cheek, but I rarely do watch either CBC or CTV anymore. I get all my news off the Web although I do often turn CPAC on while working. And I visit Kinsella’s site every day as well as many others, both left and right, provided they have anything new to add. Getting the latest news online can be automated as I’m sure you know, so I find it much easier keeping up to date on those subjects I’m interested in online than by taking the time it would require to read newspapers from all over the world. I love the Internet. It is indeed a gift.
I can’t see myself ever buying a newspaper again though. I mean, the news in a newspaper is a day old by the time it’s delivered. I’m not the least interested in the opinions of mainstream media types. And I really do like trees better anyway

  8. Belinda is on Countdown and gave a non-answer – “In the interests of fairness … Harper was president of…Cabinet members are encouraged to bring their views to the table…”

  9. Belinda said “if elected Prime Minister..blah blah blah,” she had a real chance at the Conservative leadership! WTF???!
I have always held true Conservative ideals. Honesty, truth, trust and faith in your fellow man. that sounds hokey? ya I got a redneck too.

  10. Gerry needs to get a life. I wonder if he still lives with his mommy.
Belinda is a Liberal now and and of course she will support party policy.
What he calls a gag is really levelling of the playing field. Bravo to the Liberals to condone fair play. Running full page ads in big city newspapers was a favourite Reform scare tactic.
Gerry if you want to take your ball home because your a loser, go ahead. We don’t like playing with whiners anyway.
