Sweden’s new Muslim immigration minister is making waves…

…arguing that all girls should be checked for evidence of female circumcision; arranged marriages should be criminalised; religious schools should receive no state funding; and immigrants should learn Swedish and find a job.
Supporters of the centre-right government that came to power last month believe that her bold rejection of cultural diversity may make her a force for change across Europe. Her critics are calling her a hardliner and even an Islamophobe.

Muslim groups in Sweden are already organising a petition to have her removed from government. “I regret that Muslims feel I am a threat to them,” she said. “Everybody has a right to practise their religion, but I will never accept religious oppression. And I represent the whole of society, not just the Muslims.”
Despite her ascendancy in her adopted country, Sabuni says that Sweden, where immigrants — half of them Muslims — make up nearly 12% of the population, has been only moderately successful at integration: “We have a whole underclass of people who don’t have jobs, who don’t speak the language and who are living on the fringes of society.”
Although fighting discrimination is one of her stated aims, she effectively closed down a Centre Against Racism last week by withdrawing its £400,000 state funding. By chance, the centre was run by her uncle.
“It didn’t achieve its aims,” she said bluntly. “It simply didn’t do what it set out to do, so I had to pull the plug.

Again it is very often immigrants from outside Europe (Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Afshin Ellian) who are able to identify much better than native Europeans what is wrong and that drastic measures are needed to benefit both immigrants and their host nations. And somehow I am also beginning to sense that women are far better in delivering these blunt messages (witness Dutch immigration czar Rita Verdonk) than men.

What French philosophy professor Robert Redeker has to realize is that Muslims in the world are not against him because he is practising freedom of speech. Islam values the rights of every person and their right to express their opinion. Expressing their opinion is different, however, from openly denouncing or insulting the beliefs and religion of someone else. When Muslims in the world retaliate against such opinions — or the Danish cartoons — they are not trying to eliminate freedom of speech. Instead, we are trying to eliminate the unnecessary hatred against us that is based on completely false facts and analysis.
The fact that someone could call the Koran a “book of inherent violence” tells us how ignorant and uninformed that person is about our religion.
Secondly, what I found interesting was Prof. Redeker’s comment, “We must distinguish between Islamists and those responsible Muslims out there who should without a doubt support me.” I find it hard to understand what he is looking for. Does he want moderate Muslims to support him when he is insulting the basis of our religion without putting in the time and effort to understand it completely? Even though he will not face a violent backlash from moderate Muslims, Prof. Redeker will not gain any kind of support or encouragement either.
Muslim “reactions” and “retaliations” against supposed “free speech” are not coming out of thin air. In fact, authors such as Prof. Redeker are adding fuel to the fire and expecting it to extinguish itself. There is a simple solution to these “violent” retaliations. Let’s keep practising free speech, but eliminate the ignorant insulting of Muslim beliefs. The retaliations will stop. It is pretty hard to clap with just one hand.

The 2012 London Olympics have been plunged into controversy by the discovery that the Games will clash with Ramadan, the most holy month in the Islamic calendar.
The clash will put Muslim athletes at a disadvantage as they will be expected to fast from sunrise to sunset for the entire duration of the Games.

Somebody needs to inform Mr. Shadjareh that it’s not called “Christmas” in our sensitive and aware secular Western society. Speaking of which – Muslims might consider coming up with a new secular word for that Ramadan thing before somebody gets offended.

Islamic nutbar appointed as British School inspector

Mr Khan, now headmaster of an Islamic school, launched into his tirade during a concert rehearsal at Washwood Heath Secondary School in Birmingham in 1996 after the choir including around 40 Muslim youngsters, had sung a number of popular Christmas songs, including carols.
He leapt from his seat, yelling: “Who is your God? Why are you saying Jesus and Jesus Christ? God is not your God – it is Allah.”

Sounds like the perfect guy to make sure the schools are doing their job.
And one has to wonder how Mr. Khan will deal with a situation like this

Parents staged an angry protest after their young daughters were forced to strip to their underwear in front of boys at school.
The girls, aged ten and 11, were left in tears after being ordered to change for PE in a mixed classroom under a school policy blamed on health and safety regulations.

One shudders at just what the idiotic British nanny state will turn in to as it becomes more and more Islamified.

Paul Belien at Brussels Journal suggest Belgian “youths” might be starting to make Ramadan an annual Car-B-Q season

It looks like some Brussels immigrant youths want to make “ramadan rioting” an annual event. Last Saturday morning, between 1 and 4 am, ten cars were set on fire in the Brussels borough of Schaarbeek. Last night several car and shop windows were smashed and one shop and five cars were set alight in the Brussels Marollen quarter.

Via Mark Steyn, we find this amusing Mitsubishi ad campaign that some Ohio radio stations are refusing to run:

In the spot, Keith Dennis of Dennis Mitsubishi talks about “launching a jihad on the automotive market.”
Sales representatives “will be wearing burqas all weekend long,” the ad says. One of the vehicles on sale “can comfortably seat up to 12 jihadists in the back.”
“Our prices are lower than the evildoers’ every day. Just ask the pope! ” the ad says. “Friday is fatwa Friday, with free rubber swords for the kiddies.”

Sounds like a good excuse for the perpetually outraged to have a Car-B-Q party. The radio stations are certainly entitled to decline any ad for their own reasons, but I think this type of mockery is the best response to the jihadists. We should not allow the slightest hint of being intimidated by the serial rioters.
And speaking of the perpetually outraged, Salim Mansur has an excellent column today:

Hence, instead of dignifying outrage by striving to find any merit in what has led to the burning of Pope effigies in the Arab-Muslim world, I am reminded of another conversation worth recalling that took place in Baghdad in 1258.

Read the whole thing, as they say, but I’m encouraged to see him simply refusing to dignify the outrage.

Unlike the humiliation of American prisons, Indonesia treats Christian militants in Sulawesi quite differently:

The militants’ supporters and rights groups have questioned the fairness of the trial.

I don’t know if they got a fair trial or not, but it in Indonesia it’s certainly doubtful.

Reading this reminds me of a conversation I had with some white Rhodesians many years ago when they lectured me on the backward, tribal customs of the majority in the country. They predicted that the people would never successfully manage a democratic country themselves and it would quickly descend into corrupt and vicious tribal chaos. It sounded like bigotry at the time, but more than twenty years later one could not say the prediction was inaccurate.
