“The export policy of wheat against the above mentioned HS codes is ‘Prohibited’ with immediate effect except for shipments fulfilling the conditions mentioned in [paragraph 2 above which will be allowed as per the procedure outlined in Para 1.05 (b) of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-2020,” the director wrote.
Even though it is the world’s second-largest producer of wheat, India consumes most of the wheat it produces.
The nation had set a goal of exporting 10 million tons from 2022 to 2023, much of which would have gone to other developing countries like Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.
How dare they feed their own first!
Justin sends money we don’t have all over the world and he refuses to bring us energy independence at home…because owning something makes people unhappy.
How can India be jolly if they own something?
Klaus, oh master of us all, please make India happy.
Anyone who has ever been to a grocery store knows that food comes from a box. So when they stop exporting boxes, let the masses know. In the meantime I will be in my ever-growing vegetable garden.
When does the panic buying and stockpiling take off? The Greens might get to enjoy their wet dream of significantly reduced humanity in a few months all over the developing world.
There’s always Soylent Pig.
The secret is in the sauce, mmmm mmmm good.
Went to Walmart this morning to further add to my increasingly larger and larger end-of-days stockpile of food. If the end does come, there’s a good chance I will turn into either a Cheerio or a giant peach bathed in sweet, sugary syrup.
There is a “James and the Giant Peach” joke in here somewhere and I’m struggling to find it. 🙂
You CAN by peaches packed in unsweetened fruit juce, you know….
Is it a bad time to bring up the world wide fertilizer shortage?? Whooooooooo boy, things are going to get ugly fast.
I’m thinking not until the fall. Then a food shortage, followed by a cold winter with no heat.
Is that when our dementia-compromised POTUS (his globalist LGBTQqEI+2s handlers) starts the nuclear war? The potash may be radioactive … but that will just mean larger heads of wheat
yes . and it usually is slightly .
dont mention the war
And then maybe my sandwich will give me superpowers.
Silver linings…
But only in your own mind – so “limited” super powers.
Well at least India didn’t pull a Sri Lanka…
I guess their politicians are a tad averse to having their personal homes torched…
Amazingly said (Sri Lankan), politicians were not the exactly the brightest of the bunch…sort of like 1700’s French Nobility – OBLIVIOUS to the results of Action & Ensuing Reaction
For every action of stupid, there is an equal and opposite reaction that snaps back to reality – of course there is a delay. This is where popcorn comes in.
Watch as China (who already owns the port of Trincomalee), rock up to “save the day”.
Watch for the ‘Sell by Dates’ to be extended. Depression time recipies get a make over for our era. Nellie Lyle Patterson back in the kitchen !
Count on the Spawn-Fuhrer shipping any “perceived (western?) surplus” overseas as he is loyal only to Quebec and the Global fascist elite.
I guess Indians are more like ants while our leaders, especially the Queer at Harrington, are partying grasshoppers. Or is locust a more accurate term?
If I didn’t know any better, I might suggest that this is a reaction to a plan of global starvation and domination.
We are swapping some acres into spring wheat the only problem is if I can get any more fertilizer. Anyone wanna guess what price levels will be at !
Buckwheat? It doesnt need ( doesnt like) extra nitrogen, and, is a weed suppressant.
Depends on the market , and do you hull it w a combine, etc.
Any way to reduce shipments of Western wheat to the East and send it to lands more aligned with us, so to speak? Might as well feed potential allies first.
I am not sure about food, other than even in the west it will be at usurious prices and subject to rationing, but heat may be a thing come winter. Even Canadian sheep may be roused. Nah, they will freeze as their patriotic duty to save the twin Canadian treasures, the CBC and socialized medicine. Never mind that the CBC is shoddily produced propaganda, and Canadian healthcare is third world dogshit, it’s not “American style” so it must be great even as the neglected body count rises while doctors who are nothing more than bureaucrats yawn waiting for quitting time.
Never has a country deserved it’s fate more than this joke.
over the years ,india has let a large part of the wheat stock rot in poor storage conditions,,,,,i wonder if they have fixed this????
Details, Details.
The really Famous Politicians think in broad strokes and grandiose IDEAS!
The Great Leap Forward!
Let a Thousand Blossoms Bloom!
Land for Zimbabwe Guerillas!
Organic Sri Lanka!
Build Back Better
The entire global “system” was incrementally created by very intelligent people over time, maybe greedy people but intelligent nonetheless. Then with surpluses the masses voted in the criminals and greedy morons to run and maintain it.
Here is where we are.
That sums it up nicely
Some people may think this is a silly comment, moo, moo, protein on the hoof.
I feel like I’m living in *Bizzaro* world.
None of these facts are in dispute, are they? Because of the Russian/Ukraine war:
* there is less oil and gas available worldwide
* there is less food and grain available worldwide
* there is less fertilizer available worldwide
Now, I might be confused, but I was under the delusion that Canada:
* was a major producer of wheat and grains
* was a major producer of fertilizer
* was a major producer of oil and gas
Don’t you think a *real* Canadian leader would look at all this, and say “For the next year, screw worrying about climate change – let’s get going, and help feed and power the world through this crisis.” Obviously, we’re not going to build a pipeline in a year, so that means more rail transport and more trucks, but there’s a mission that might really unite the country and give us a sense of combined purpose.
But I don’t look at any of our ‘leaders’ of any party, not even Pete Poilievre, as having either the sensibility or the stones to take on that mission.
