  1. Economic update (thanks for nothing, Prinz Dummkopf and Perogy Thighs).

    I filled up at the Calgary Trail SuperStore this morning before heading to my house in B. C. Three weeks ago, diesel was $1.50/litre. This morning, it was $1.80. When I refuelled in Grande Prairie, it was $1.60.

    I think those two sweeties are punishing users of diesel fuel because that’s what most of the trucks in that convoy of “racists, rapists, white supremacists, science deniers, and *phobes who hold unacceptable views” use to run their rigs.

    Meanwhile, I noticed that the breakfast cereal section at the Fort St. John SaveOn Foods wasn’t as empty as before, with some basic cereals, such as corn flakes, back on the shelves. The No Frills was another matter and most of its section was empty.

    But, most important of all, the government dope store was open until 9……

    1. Along the way, I noticed a number of signs supporting the truckers. The biggest display I saw was set up a few minutes past Gunn where the protesters denounced the government for having political prisoners.

            I recently looked into this topic.
            Here’s a quick reference.

            Per cup, caloriewise, Oatmeal has more calories (166) than Cream of Wheat (126)– you’ll feel satiated longer, therefore this is your better choice for weight loss. However, it must be the kind you cook, i.e. steel cut as opposed to instant oatmeal. Also, by comparison there’s more fiber, protein, magnesium and zinc in oatmeal.

    1. The thing is that it is not up to US to greenlight anyone else sending troops to Ukraine. NATO is a strictly defensive alliance and offensive wars are individual country’s decisions. So Captain Alzheimer can greenlight, redlight or pinklight anything he wants.

        1. Two things. One russia has been bombing Ukrainian airports from day 1. Two Poland denied the rumors.

          A little bit about Polish air force. They currently operate 48 F-16C/D Block 52 with all NATO bells and whistles. They also have about 30 operational MiG-29s those come from three sources, less than ten were transferred directly from Soviets in the late 80s. The reminder are ex East German and ex Czechoslovakian aircraft. These have been extensively upgraded over the decades, are NATO compatible, but unlike F-16s, MiGs are air-to-air fighters only with no guided air to ground capability. Finally, there are about 20 ancient SU-22s tactical bombers. These use old Cold War era precision (such as they were) guided missiles with no meaningful air-to-air capability. They are obsolete place holders that will be replaced first. Some by long range drones other by F-35s of which Poland ordered 32 with an option for 16 more for delivery in two years.

          So there is no way Poland would transfer F-16s. Poles would probably be glad to get rid of the old SU-22s even if they were to be traded for used refurbished F-16s. But SUs are old and Ukrainians don’t use them (anymore?). The most likely candidates then are the MiG-29s that Ukrainians already operate. Would Poland trade them for F-16s? Likely yes, if they came with ordnance. But, that would require US to provide Poland with about 30 operational F-16s. And those would have to materialize before Poland gives up MiGs. Possible deal, but unlikely.

          There are only a handful of people, all close to Putin, who know what their original objectives and expectations were/are and whether they are on/behind/ahead/off of planned timelines
          Nobody knows what they are intentionally holding in reserve, logistically or offensively. Can know the forces they physically have, but what is actually committed to the operation/invasion is unknown.
          Just because they didn’t go ‘Shock & Awe’ and bomb the fck out of the place for a month doesn’t mean their Air Force ‘failed’
          Just because they didn’t blitz at and try to seize every city in a few days all-in race-to-Berlin 1945 style , waaay beyond their supply lines, doesn’t mean their logistics have ‘failed’. It’s almost spring. Pretty sure Russian planners were aware of the existence of the Pripet marshes

I have never made claimes that anything regarding the tactical/strategic situation I found is absolute truth that cannot be questioned. That is just pure conjecture you’re making. And you’re doing so disingenuously to discredit critical of Siberians sources I cited.

            Saying “Nobody knows anything.” is an equivalent to “all cultures are equal” a blanket excuse not to learn details. But that is exactly what you want, isn’t it?

    TBH…. I was “essential” and I worked through…and admit to panic attacks April/May 2020… but by summer i was questioning everything. Ask my coworkers. I have said since Sept 2020 this is WW3 and China had not fired a round. (the auto correct on my apple will not allow bullitt to auto populate) Now here we are with Russia Taking the Mike away from Covid.

    I am free to shower in the morning or the evening.

I gave money to said truckers and fully support them (as much that is worth in addition to the money which very well might never reach them) but that doesn’t make me blind towards other (bigger) evils.

  20. I’m on Derek Sloan’s email list and today I received his latest missive in which he prints an apology from Rick Nicholls for voting in fovour of Bill 67. It is rather long, so I just copy the first section:

    “As an MPP in Ontario, I’ve not been afraid to stand apart from the crowd. I said it was wrong for the government of Doug Ford to force people to be vaccinated or get fired. That stand got me booted from Ford’s Progressive Conservative government.

To win approval, the ideas of the movement are presented using the purposely misleading term “Anti-racism.” Ironically, the actions promoted by the “anti-racism” of CRT are explicitly racist.”

    2. Answering my own question here. I’ll bet the NCC is behind this decision. The control some of the diwndown buildings. A nasty move by politicos or bureaucrats– smashing small business people again. Guessing here, but seems likely. Call your MP to complain. This type of autocratic move is exactly what caused the trucker demonstration. These people are nasty and stupid.
