For far too long, I was convinced that the media were, on the whole, reliable purveyors of the news. For nearly three years I freelanced happily at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Music and Public Affairs, never suspecting that the Mothercorp was a hive of Liberal propaganda and an artesian fount of scandalously disingenuous broadcasting. It took 9/11 and the generally extenuating media reports over time, faulting the U.S. and exempting Islam, to shake up my thinking and turn me into a sceptical fact-finder.
The media are especially adept at creating villains out of whole cloth for public consumption to advance a particular and often dubious purpose. How else explain the transformation of significant political figures into synonyms for perfidy and opprobrium. I’m thinking in particular of Joe McCarthy, Barry Goldwater and Enoch Powell, all of whom considered themselves patriots and enunciated unpopular or anti-establishment truths, costing them their reputations both in their lifetimes and for posterity.

I was in news in late eighties and early nineties. I never met a reporter who wasn’t instinctively liberal, even if they didn’t actually vote NDP or Liberal, including me at the time.
Things have gotten far more polarized and most have moved from “instinctively liberal” to flat out activism. I always shake my head at these fools on social media – they actually brag about it.
Getting your news from any of the Legacy Media sources is like getting your fashions from Sears.
How did we get to this point where independently owned news outlets(exclude CBC for a moment) are so biased in favor of the left?
Has it happened by direction from the top down? Politically directed by the owners? Bias, directed from the ownership in not just reporting, but also in hiring? So hire those who already show political leanings that agree with ownership, or those with little ethics and are willing to bend their reporting to satisfy ownership and keep their job?
Or has it happened from the bottom up, beginning during University “training”? Once hired, tow the line for awhile, till they start to move up into position of power, then hire like minded employees till eventually the ranks or filled with reports who are intentionally bias?
Plenty has been said, that the media has always been biased in favor of the left. It could afford to be more subtle when there are only 3 networks. Perhaps the very real reason Democrats held the power in the House for 48 consecutive years. But additional networks and the internet have forced the “legacy media” to shout louder and louder to keep the attention of their willing listeners.
When a year and a half ago, the NYT said on their front page, that they are now willing to print anything to stop PDJT,,,,we should have believed them!
Is Scheer that much different than PMSH, Harper didn’t break-up the CBC either. What did Just in do,,,, expand their budget to just the right amount needed to guarantee favorable coverage, no matter how stupid he acts, or how much he lies about wanting to build a pipeline! You know, there are still people touted as conservative(Progressive, I grant you) like Gormley, who still actually believe Justin wants to build a pipeline.

I watched this video without listening to the commentator. There are observations about the video clips:
One group is full of individuals which can be easily identified and recognizable – their faces are not masked.
One group is only filmed with their faces hidden and cannot be identify or recognized.
One group are only seen during the day.
The other group is skulking around at night putting fliers on telephone poles.
One group are either bald or grey haired, overweight and older men, no piercings, not tattoos – appearing to be baby boomers.
The other group – interviewed individuals and people in background – appear as young males with hair, piercings, tattoos.
Both groups have few minorities represented – female, black, Asian, Middle eastern etc.
My final observation is:
At the 5:30 mark, there is an interview with a young man with covered face. If you look closely you can see the brand “Patagonia” on his hooded coat/sweat shirt. For those who do not know this – “Patagonia” is an exclusive high end (Expensive) outdoor clothing manufacturer. Deducing from this knowledge: this is a young man who is either well employed – earning enough after rent, food, utilities etc. to afford some expensive clothing, or a young man still living at home being supplemented by his parent or parent’s.
