Y2Kyoto: The Planet Has A Shiver

When a summer storm tips over grain bins, it’s  “climate change”.

Last year, asparagus growers were harvesting as early as 8 April. This spring, they are not expecting to harvest their open-field crop until the last week of April – a week later than the official start of the season, St George’s Day, 23 April. Welcome to just one of the consequences of Britain’s disastrously delayed spring.

When ground’s too frozen to get seed in the ground  – it’s “weather”.

  1. In related news, Canada is one of several nations that signed on to reduce shipping emissions by 50%. http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-43759923
Like Paris it is strictly virtue signaling and an obvious stupid and unobtainable goal. Some of their ideas include slowing ships down to save fuel (resulting in needing more ships to keep capacity up and net more fuel, don’t tell McKenna her head would explode) and wind power. WIND POWER!!!!
At the same time, Trudeau and McKenna are doing everything they can to prevent our oil being piped to either coast which would, you know, eliminate some ship trips from the middle east.
You cannot underestimate the stupidity of these people.

  2. Nothing is “weather” anymore … it is EXTREME weather … caused by … “sudden, catastrophic, climate change”

Normal, cyclical, weather patterns is soooo 1958 … when the chrome was thick, men held doors for women, and gay meant a good time for all

    1. Without “extreme weather”, a certain TV channel would be about as exciting as watching paint dry.

  3. I guess I’m missing something here. The whole article is lamenting the cold weather that is delaying the spring planting in Britain, and then at the end there is a climate scientist explaining that because the climate is getting warmer, 1.5 degrees over the last hundred and fifty years then there is more rain. So if the climate has warmed by 1.5 degrees I figure that the growing season should be getting longer rather than shorter, which would mean that the asparagus crop should be ready a week or two early, but no according to the Gore-ists warming the climate is going to reduce the growing period. Pretty Orwellian to me!

    1. That is quite a stretch. If it’s warmer or colder than average, dryer or wetter than average it’s climate change. The alarmists don’t leave much room for variation in the climate, or even in the weather because every heat wave or drought is evidence of climate change.
Imagine the hysteria if 10 years of heat and drought as occurred in the 1930s were to happen now.

  4. Well, now here is an opportunity to re-post a very funny post I found at Real Climate. Don ‘t ask me what I was doing there, but one of their posters has a sense of humour. He calls himself “Mr. Know It All.” They were discussing possible answers to the AGW court case (against oil companies) judge’s questions:
“The answer to #6 reveals a solution to the carbon problem. Carbon can be stored in humans. We need to go hog-wild eating tater chips and chocolate, etc, causing each of us to become grossly obese. Hundreds of pounds of carbon stored in each body – wasn’t there a prize of $10MM for anyone who could come up with a workable storage idea? I thought of it first! Any human weighing less than 500 pounds will be charged a stiff carbon tax. Added benefit: for various reasons, soon there will be fewer of us and as many have stated that’s a good thing, right?
    ;)”

Someone else in the same discussion suggested that we should now be calling it “Irritable Climate Syndrom”.

  5. How long before the threat morphs back into global cooling? (with the solution being exactly the same as for global warming).

  6. Climate scientists have all the bases covered on this. Search the internet for : global warming more droughts, global warming more floods, global warming hotter temps, global warming cooler temps (eg. Polar vortex). This isn’t even an outlier — predictions of the effects of global warming can “explain” every possible scenario for each season and extreme weather event, no matter how contradictory.

Just a thought, but if your predictions of the effects of global warming are virtually identical to the randomness of natural variation…then you might want to question your theory and predictions.

    1. My favorite failed climate change doomsday prediction was that it would cause more devastating hurricanes.

2005 – CAGW warming prediction: brace yourself, global warming will cause more hurricanes in the usa. It will cost billions, trillions in damage.

2005-2016 is the longest stretch on record without a hurricane (not tropical storm, btw, they’re different). Numerous new theories attempt explain the disappearance.

2017 – hurricanes hit after 11 year absence and CAGW alarmists say “See!! I told you so!!”

The Pause in temperature increase followed the same scenario. Failed prediction, denial, recalculation of the time The Pause would need to last to be statistically significant , numerous explanation….then they just “corrected” the data to make The Pause disappear (before an important climate meeting)

There’s a pattern. One that alarmists just wave away or scream “denier” at anyone who mentions inconsistencies, uncertainties or problems . It’s a pattern that does not indicate strict adherence to science or scientific integrity. Climate science suffers from the same problems that are infecting the rest of modern research – politicalization, data manipulation, biases, exaggeration and instances of fraud. Some CO2 warming, yes. Catastrophic, no.

  7. Apparently they want to call it “climate restoration” now, as if “climate change” weren’t loony enough…

    1. I read a good one on that the other day. I will not try to quote accurate numbers but the temperature would have to reach a constant, above freezing and it would take about 450,000 years to thaw out antarctica.

    2. Do you realize that this is the first time in geological history of the earth that both poles are frozen ( ice capped)!!! But we wouldn’t want facts to enter in to this discussion! Athropogenic climate change is a fraud !!

  8. It’s getting cold because it’s getting hot. And that’s all there is to it.
