I have WAY too much going on in my life this week, including planning for a second night of torture. So, here’s a mini-roundup:
For amusement purposes, I have to ask, wtf are the other provinces doing? Is this pandemic targetted at Quebec-only? Only bilinguals need worry? That’s a pretty discriminating bug! The Bloc will not be pleased.
YAY for everyone who chipped in and BOO to those who think we should bail.
GG Jean: Well, preferring a donation to a shelter instead of a gift, she seems to be a bit less of a spendthrift than our last one. However, her budget to date hasn’t been published, so I’ll reserve judgement for now.
And as Dad used to say, Good night, & don’t let the bedbugs bite.

As for Her Excellency, I recall the old Panda Game refrain of Carleton alumni:
“What the phoque’s a Gee Gee?!”
The Lethbridge Herald, March 10, page A6
Students’ union backs campus paper staff over Jesus cartoon.
No one covers on-campus the way the Sheaf does, said president Gavin Gardiner. We are defending the Sheaf in spite of these calls for it to either be moderated extremely or it to be disbanded altogether. Gardiner said the Sheaf serves a significant role on campus, and much would be lost if the paper were not autonomous. The Sheaf can criticize the students ‘ union. It can criticize faculty. It can criticize the administration without any fear of immediate recourse from its sponsoring body. and that would be lost. Gardiner said.
Not to mention, who would criticize the capitalists and Christianity if it wasn’t for the Sheaf?
Last I saw, it’s own guidelines would have taken care of the problem if they had moderated themselves (it wouldn’t even had to have been severe). Fire the incompetents who couldn’t follow their own guidelines.
Then they can go back to criticizing the SU, faculty and admin with a more competent group of editors.
I believe it’s time for the U of S President to poll the students and see if it’s Gavin (pres…SU) Gardiner’s arse that’s causing that “hissing’ noise I hear all the way to Ontario. Let the people decide!!
“The mother and aunt of a Newfoundland soldier who was killed in Afghanistan are calling on the federal government to reconsider Canada’s role there.”
==================================================
Calling on the federal government are they? What power! Well it is the East Coast talking eh?
It’s bad that we have to be in a war at this so advanced time in modern history. However, the war is about fighting people who are not advanced in history. They are about 1500 year in the past.
To bail now means cut and run … nice message to our enemies. And yes, they are our enemies even though it pains the moral relativists to no end.
These two women would do their dead family member proud if they did something like start a rememberance activity or fund or sponsorship in his community in his name. Rather, they want to make him the poster boy for run don’t fight.
Ladies, try to be as adult and brave as your lost soldier. Bleating about the bad war doesn’t do you, your lost son, nor Canada proud. blah blah …. wait a minute … wait a minute!
Is this going to lead to you getting a cheque or a job or a government project in your community … I mean this is Newfoundland home of a once proud people who were brought to their knees by cheques from Ottawa.
I will be curious to know what happens if they do not manage to get the PM to change the war to whatever the hell they think it should be.
Any bets that they eventually get a pay-off for their hurt feelings?
OT but:
Looks like the Liberals were correct. Military in the streets, with guns! Winnipeg will be the first to fall!

Leave it to the CBC to find the dozen or so people in a city of 650000 who really have a problem with this.
Regarding BOO, is it just coincidence that it is the People’s Network that is presenting this view regarding the soldiers in Afghanistan?
Aren’t these soldiers all volunteers?
Let’s get rid of the CBC now. Today! And the money that we save there can go immediately to our people over there, so that they may finish the job and return home.
CRB
So the StarPhoenix has the response from the Sheaf and the cartoonist. He basically says: it’s your fault for being offended.
CRB – I didn’t see anything about this on CTV, probably not a coincidence. I’m hoping they don’t get a lot of attention; we need a Canadian Sheehan like we need a hole in the head.
Duke – I really can’t figure out their motivation, particularly the one with a son in Afghanistan. If he saw this I bet he’d be (politely) asking her to stfu.

“One of the points of the recent ‘Capitalist Pig’ comic was this: How many of you thought, ‘Why are those people getting so worked up over that (Muhammad) comic? It’s only a comic, we Christians wouldn’t have done that, no way.'”
Worked up? I didn’t see any Christians rioting or burning down buildings or killing people. In this case the reaction was equal to the offense.
And his remarks about his cartoon being funny and cartoon gold? Those were funny.
Re: CBC
Sell off the decaying carcass! I couldn’t agree more. I doubt that it can be fixed, and in any event, selling it now means that if someday a Liberal government should be re-elected, they won’t be able to resuscitate it. Let the market place dictate the future of the media. While we are at it, can the CRTC.
One reason I believe that Quebec has taken action is that Frogs in general believe conspiracy theories and are deeply anti-semitic. I oughta know, I married one. They worship and adore Lardass Moore and Numb Chimpsky types always thinking that Walmart(and by extension the US) is worse than the Holocaust.
If you were to ask one, privately, whether they beleive BusHitler McChimpyBurton and KKKarl Rove and the TriLateral Commission are really beind the BIRD FLU EPIDEMIC (see–it’s already happened!)you will have your answer right before you.
How many times must this be said that the issue, THE ONLY ISSUE over the “capitalist piglet” cartoon is one of a journalistic double standard. That is, choosing NOT to print the Muhammed cartoons because they are “offensive” to Muslims yet choosing TO PRINT a cartoon offensive to Christians.
This is what is taught at universities? Apparently so.
And yes, they are right, it is only a cartoon but simply compare the response to “capitalist piglet” to that of the Muhammed cartoons.
And university students are supposed learning critical thinking?. Again, as it was said in an eralier post, they are definitely NOT learning critical thinking they are only being TOLD what is the university faculties attempted definition of “critical thinking.”
Re Quebec pandemic….I hope the other provinces…at least the ones that count ( AB/AC/SASK) are not doing anything except have a talking head make concerned faces to the eastern media….Avian pandemic is a hoax every bit as unfounded as cabon gas climate change…when your local political manipulator starts fear monger this latest gig, hide your wallet and keep a close eye on your civil freedoms….there’s some more micro managing of the population coming down.
Pandemics are the latest boogyman schtick big brother is using to expand the state into regualting individual mobility. Remember that “quarantines” and travel restrictions go hand in hand with pandemic scares
Candance: Thanks for beating me to the Cindy wannabes comment. I was feeling sorry for Nfld because of Paul’s rants, but these women need to wake up and smell the seals. We are at war, even if our MSM refuse to admit it. This is a war of civilizations, called terrorism. The CBC wont even use the word terrorist. Cowards would be a better word to describe the idiots. Just wondering if the cartoonist is upset the U of S wasn’t burned and staff beheaded. When are cdns and americans as a whole going to start supporting this war against their way of life. I remember the blackouts, curfews, ration books, war bonds etc during WW11. Maybe we should bring some of those things back teach the students in University, and their parents what war support means. Lets donate and buy a burka for those women in Nfld. How dare they dishonor their soldier.
I wonder what the one still in Afghanistan thinks of his mother’s comments? and aunt’s?
I have two nieces that intend to sign up once they graduate, one for a jumpstart on a nursing career, the other isn’t sure in what direction she wants to go, but knows it will be through the Military College.
I’m proud of them, although concerned because let’s face it, we’ll still be fighting terrorists by the time they sign up. Once they’ve signed up, that will change to “proud & terrified” vs. concerned.

I’ve heard of a lot of Indians commiting suicide but this one tops them all.
Re: Bedbugs.
Disgusting.
It is a good thing you are in the Land of the Free Kate.
With a $20 million dollar lawsuit the poor dear could end up owning that hotel. :0)
Yeah, how is 500 bedbug bites (very gross & disgusting, and likely painful, too) amount to $20 million?
I’m not greedy. I’ll take 6 bites for half price $120000
