You can’t pay -all- the protesters, but you can pay two or three to scrape up five or ten excitable idiots to go wrestle with the cops. The rest just follow along to see the show. Like sheep.
Maybe if they started arresting the people PAYING for all this they’d make some headway.

Hate to say “I told you so” but I told you so. The “handwriting on the wall” as it were, was Honduras and the crisis generated by its former President — Manuel Zelaya — back in 2009 with the backing of Chavez and the “Bolivarian” revolution. That’s when it became obvious that Marxist revolutions were taking a new tack in strategy:
1/ Legitimately-elected politicians encouraging or backing the Marxist protestors, usually culminating in violence (i.e. now pseudo-“legitimized” violence).
2/ The self-same politicians ignoring the established free democratic process to produce legitimate change.
U.S. President Barack Obama (and other politicians including some Canadians) is playing an almost identical role to Zelaya: pretending that he’s part of the protest and he’s not the ultimate governing authority in the U.S. — playing a phantasmagorical role as if Obama were someone who is not even in Government.
Nope, U.S. President Barack Obama is just another simple protestor, joined with the “people’s revolution”.

er, troll, that was the Democrats of the day who shot the civil rights protesters (much as their fore-fathers had earlier lobbied to keep slavery alive), and the news of the day used incendiary explosives to fake vehicle safety stories after the safety was improved by manufacturers so that they could sell their products.
Best urge the protesters not to use any oil or metal products, otherwise they’re a big part of the problem (you know, the whole “using goods without producing anything”). The company I work for produces goods that others want, the others buy the goods from us and I get paid from the proceeds. I want the goods others produce. I use what I am paid to buy them those goods. Sure there are middlemen who make a profit from the transactions, I don’t directly know any coffee growers so I couldn’t otherwise buy coffee. I also didn’t have enough saved to buy my house, but I will have enough someday so I borrowed the money to do so and am slowly paying it back. Systems don’t spontaneously generate, they evolve over time. Sometimes they fail catastrophically (see the fall of the Berlin wall). All systems can use improvement, including ours, but these “protesters” don’t strike me as being competent to clean up after their dogs let alone help rewire a system that is largely driven by personal choice. Anyone who thinks that governmental involvement is a solution rather than the problem really needs to read some Thomas Sowell or Walter Williams.
Wow. Kind of reminds me of the thugs I grew up with who would get drunk at house parties, go to the local bar, and pick fights with drunken (uncoordinated) natives in town for a Saturday night of drinking. That is until the day they were beating the crap out of a couple of drunken bucks and a native woman decided to retrieve her handgun from the vehicle glove box…

Yesterday I was visiting my 93 year old aunt in a nursing home. She had the CBS Evening News on the tube. There was a nice long segment about how the violence at the Occupy events was very isolated and only a tiny minority of participants were on the “fringe”. I would bet my 401k that CBS didn’t give the same consideration to the Tea Parties.

Anyway suffice to say it takes about a quarter of a minute of your life to find out that banks do a lot more for the poor (and other causes) than any group of welfare losers ever will.
