SDA celebrated the close of 2005 earlier today, by crossing the 1.5 million visit mark – over 300,000 of those in the last two months alone.
From Sitemeter;

Thanks to everyone who’s helped make SDA a success and best wishes for the New Year!
Addendum: As has been mentioned elsewhere, Sitemeter tends to undercount actual visits. I’ve been using it as the indicator of traffic, because it’s the one displayed on the site. As it’s year end, though, perhaps I should share the actual server stats. Besides providing more accurate data, it helps illustrate the difference between “hits’ and “visits”.

It is you who deserves the credit for creating a forum such as this. And furthermore, for taking a risky chance and letting Canadians know what they were not supposed to… for providing the link which shared the testimony of a certain someone (back in March of ’05) when another foolishly said we shouldn’t for whatever spurious reason.
That’s how I got here from there.
Happy New Year one and all. Thanks for caring about my family, me, Canada, and Canadians. It really does matter what you say and do and it’s working for all the right reasons.
If you build it, they will come.
Thanks for making a great blogging destination.
Happy New Year y’all
Happy New Year to you Kate and all your Blogging friends.
Please keep the truth coming in 2006.

kate, you are officially an institution. it’s a fact.
Congrats! & happy new year!
To Kate, and SDA fans, Happy New Year. The political blog/news this past week has been more fun than blastin’ gophers with a 12 gauge **
Kate…I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Have a healthy, happy, prosporus new year.
Awsome!!!
Happy New Year Ms. McMillan. Thank You for your wonderful service. Feel free to take the morning off, I expect I’ll be having a bit of a lie-in.
Congratulations Kate. The blogosphere has grown up in Canada over the last year and you’ve lead the charge. The news media generally will never be the same again.
BTW, you are going to be even busier in 2006. I hope you know that.
Happy MMVI everyone.
Happy new year Kate and thanks for the great reading your blog has provided.
Were it not for SDA, LGF, Styne and Michelle Malkin, I don’t know where I’d get my conservative analysis
Happy New Year, Kate.
Happy new year kate.
Thanks for a great site Kate.
Happy New Year!
Thank you for creating one site that exposes, clarifies, and congeals information.
Thanks to all who add the many well thought-out comments.
All the best for 2006; may we find ourselves many steps closer to an honest government.
Congratulations and a Happy New Year Kate…your site is the best!
Thanks Kate,
God bless you and all the best in 2006
Happy trails to everyone in 2006.
And special thanks to Kate for giving all these rugrats a community.
You’re a light in this world, Kate. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year and a very prosperous 2006 Kate. Keep the lefties toes to the fire
Thank you Kate, and happy New Year.
Your site’s awesome! Keep up the good work, Kate. You’re a breath of fresh air. I’m telling friends & co-workers about smalldeadanimals.
Happy New Year Kate – we’re almost there in Alberta, although you crossed the threshold almost an hour ago.
Welcome 2006, and all it holds.
HNY Kate. An excellent year you’ve had. Congratulations.
Here’s wishing you all the best in 2006.
Happy New Year and all the best in 2006 Kate.
It is we who should be thanking you Kate, not the other way around.
You have gave us something that has been sorely lacking in the MSM for decades. The Truth. And not some whitewashed version that states that criminal activity by the Liberals is OK because the Conservatives are scary and have a hidden agenda.
Wishing you all the best for 2006
Damn, just when I thought my numbers were looking good. 🙂
Congrats Kate.
A Happy CONSERVATIVE New Year to everyone–thanks Kate–you have given Canada and Canadians hope that we can indeed change the course we have been on–onward and upward.
From Sheila Copps…. The blogosphere lauded and magnified. SDA et al is the nemesis of the Librano$ oligarchy. >
Finance springs a leak
By SHEILA COPPS
HAMILTON — There is no way that Finance Minister Ralph Goodale can remain in his job without delivering a body blow to the re-election aspirations of the Paul Martin Liberal Party. After last week’s announcement of an RCMP criminal investigation into possible leaks of the government’s income trust policy, the minister is duty bound to step aside.
But so closely are his fortunes tied to those of his boss, Goodale’s demise would be viewed as a precursor to the departure of the Prime Minister. As Martin demonstrated in his vigorous defence of his minister, neither has any intention of leaving anytime soon.
To those who know the inside workings of the department of finance, rumours surrounding the leaks were not surprising. Since Martin’s arrival as the minister in 1993, finance had become known as one of the leakiest departments in government. The big surprise is that the RCMP would launch a criminal investigation in the middle of an election campaign. Kudos to Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli for pursuing the investigation, irrespective of political agendas.
Kudos, too, to NDP finance critic Judy Wasylycia-Leis for doing her job. And to the blogosphere. If anyone wants to know why the RCMP decided to the pursue the matter, check out a few political blogs for this twisted tale of trusts. >>

All the best in the New Year. Toronto rang in 2006 with its first murder, a 20 year old man shot dead in his car just as the PM, McGinty and David Miller were making soothing noises about stiffer sentences. A pox on all their houses. Doug Fisher and Lorrie Goldstein, both at the Toronto Sun, will also make your day. Happy NY and keep up the excellent job. You’re making Canadian journalists look like lazy dumbasses.
Long time lurker. First time poster.
Congrats on this fine blog.
It’s so nice not to have to depend on the CBC, Asper, and Bell Globe Media to tell us what we have to think anymore.
Best Wishes for 2006.
Great work Kate!
Great work, great reading! That you Kate! Here’s to a great 2006! (wow, 1.5 mil) that’s too cool!
Congratulations, Kate. May the year 2006 bring peace, goodwill and prosperity to you and your readers.
This morning the CBC Newsworld program “Sunday” has chosen to replay, yet again, its 2-hour-long pro-Liberal documentary on the 2004 election.
The political distortions pushed upon Canadians by its government-run TV network are truly mind boggling. Bless you for your part in helping to offset this propaganda.
Congrats on the blog’s success Kate. It has achieved what you set out to do…and it attracts readers for the same reason you originally started blogging:
“Because you didn’t see either reality or your views represented in the MSM.”
SDA has become truely a cornerstone in alternative media in Canada.
Is it that the Toronto Star folks DO NOT get it or that they DO get it:

“Bloggers: Yes, all of you, resolve to get out of your pyjamas and into some fresh air. The world can wait for your opinions. Like, indefinitely.”
I think they DO get it, thanks to bloggers like you, and they’re afraid… very afraid!
Congrats Kate on your successful SDA blog. It is the first one I read each day. It’s the site where the political truth occurs first. No whitewashing or spin on this blog.
Happy New Year to you and all the readers.
Thanks for a wonderful site, Kate. It’s my little piece of sanity each day, from the MSM. I wish you a Very Happy New Year and all the best in 2006.
Congratulations Kate for an absolutely Brobdingnagian site. I read it every day. The Calgary Herald I use now only for the local news, real estate, classifieds, horoscope, crossword puzzles and career section.
Happy New Year Kate.
First-time poster but long-time browser.
Terrific job keep up the good work!
Almost like a weather pattern, you’ve been building momentum. The winds of change are about us and you are right in the centre of the action.
Thanks for all the time you put into SDA.
Kudus to Kate! (Well deserved). And a sincere Happy New Year to the rest of you folks, too! Time to crank this upcoming election thing into high gear, too.)
Congratulations Kate for a great site. It’s the first place I begin my search through the net. This is where I get all my news since the MSM only puts their left leanings to it. Hoping you and your love ones, as well as each of your viewers have a healthy, happy and prosperous “2006”.
Neileen
I’m a recent convert to SDA (since the cruise) and now look at it every day. What you do with SDA is very important. Well done. Keep it up and thanks for making it feel less lonely to be conservative in Toronto.
Ingrid
Excellent work, Kate! It wasn’t that long ago that SDA reached the 1 million mark.
I noticed that the month of April 2005 as seen in the graph received the most activity.
That, coincidentally, is the month I believe I first visited SDA (could’ve been May). It seems to me that AdScam and Captain Ed’s brave posting of the “banned” testimony have caused the popularity of the blogosphere to explode. More and more folks are turning away from the MSM when it comes to getting reliable information, which is increasingly found on reputable news aggregators’ sites and sites like Canoe and World Net Daily. I’ve noticed many folks also started their own blogs that year, including myself.
I like the way things have been going since early 2005. Prior to then things were starting to look very bleak for the future of democracy and the future of Canada itself.
Long live citizen reporting! May it grow rapidly and teach the MSM a valuable lesson which it must learn or find itself in trouble…
The Mmrch to April jump is too significant to simply accept as accurate.
The March to April jump was due to the linkage of Captains’ Quarters “banned” Brault testimony to SDA for background info:

During that time I was registering 80,000 sitemeter hits a day.
Great site Kate.
when do you pass CBC Pravda for hits???
ask for gubmint funding when you do.
