Change

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,

And therefore is wing’d Cupid painted blind
*

Rolling Stone magazine’s Matt Taibbi, during the Democratic presidential primaries in 2007:

All love stories are beautiful at the beginning, and what we’re witnessing now is the beginning of a new one: America and Barack Obama…For most of this campaign season, I doubted that Obama really was that new something. Now I’m not so sure he isn’t. Whoever Barack Obama is, there’s no doubting the genuineness of his phenomenon. And maybe, who knows, that’s all that matters.

Taibbi last Tuesday:

I was hours early for a flight and stuck in a relatively small terminal crammed with people. Only one area in the whole wing had empty seats; an unused gate that contained a TV blaring the CNN broadcast of Obama’s Labor Day speech at full volume. So it was either sit underneath a full-volume broadcast of our fearless president bellowing out his latest hollow promises, or the hellish alternative: retreat to gates full of screaming five year-old children, all of them jacked up on sugar and bawling their eyes out because it was the end of Labor Day weekend and their cruel parents were dragging them home from Disneyworld.

I ended up choosing the screaming children.

  1. Meanwhile, even the NY Slimes has some hand wringing over Barry’s chances come November 2012. I’d post the linky, but its behind their idiot firewall now.

  2. Obama’s presidential campaign was a campaign about nothing, a blank sheet for progressives to project their hopes and aspirations on.
Indulging in such fantasies is fine for adolescents gushing after the newest pop icon, but hardly appropriate for the voters of the most powerful nation on earth.

  3. I ended up choosing the screaming children.
Wouldent we all today. Obama in full lying mode is like mental torture.

  4. I wonder what Taibbi will do when Obama okays the Keystone pipeline? Will he have a grand mal, or has his cynicism advanced so far that he is now immune to any catastrophe?

  5. With such great American heroes as Michael Vick, Tupac, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Amy Winehouse,Tiger Woods, Lady Gaga, Jon Stewart, Rachael Ray, Martha Stewart, The Situation, Oprah Winfrey and The View, WHY NOT Barack Obama?
    Why is anyone surprised?

  6. They may wish to choose screaming children at the airport, but these lefties WILL go with Obama as their guy in 2012 unless it gets SO bad ( I say it has been that bad for a long time now, but never let it be left unsaid that dems and lefties are nothing if not die hards)
I hear rumblings about a primary challenge to Obama but I wouldn’t bet on it. They want Hillary.
Now isn’t THAT just jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
Then , again, SHE could get elected.

  7. For any of us who have read ‘1984’: Isn’t that creepy the description of CNN blaring Obama at full throttle at the airport?
Very reminiscent of the descriptions in ‘1984’ with those blaring tv’s EVERYWHERE hawking Big Brother’s message with an “I can see you” bulging eyeball look.
Everywhere we go , especially in banks you cannot get away from CNN, yet Fox out fox’s them in the ratings by a mile.
    Big Brother IS watching!
And that reminds me of that other commerical years ago with a Hillary type hawking something on a big black and white TV to a zombie like audience when a young woman comes down the aisle and winds a sledge hammer round her head and slams it into the screen… yessiree that is JUST what’s needed.
Obama OR Hillary, we cannot afford another democrat nightmare. Not for a very long time.
    THIS one HAS to count.

  8. Reality is that which when you stop believing in it, does not go away.
So be careful what you believe.

  9. Snowbunnie:
I spent a lot of time in US airports over the last six months. I saw a LOT more TV’s tuned to Fox then I did to CNN.
Also, if any of you have the stomach, read the comments to Taibbi’s article. It’s amazing how many people – despite Bambam having complete control of both houses for his first two years – blame the “obstructionist” Republicans for everything. And, to a man/woman/idiot, they all contend that if a Republican is elected to the presidency in 2012, it will be, variously, the end of “the republic”, the “USA”, or the “world”.

  10. Don’t count the chickens before they are hatched. There are still plenty of people who think Obama is the greatest.

“The “small people”, the “rank and file”, the “loyal soldiers” of the narcissist – his flock, his nation, his employees – they pay the price. The disillusionment and disenchantment are agonizing. The process of reconstruction, of rising from the ashes, of overcoming the trauma of having been deceived, exploited and manipulated – is drawn-out. It is difficult to trust again, to have faith, to love, to be led, to collaborate. Feelings of shame and guilt engulf the erstwhile followers of the narcissist. This is his sole legacy: a massive post-traumatic stress disorder.”

  13. Notice though how Taibbi rails against who “Obama has surrounded himself with”. Many big shots from Wall Street.
And the DOJ has launched a legal action against those same financial houses recently…..for looks, to rally the base? Does anybody really take that action seriously?
Indeed, we all saw the empty suit, with his flowery speech, and Pied Piper demeanor. Those with buyers remorse were not thinking at all, but led down the garden path by a huckster

  14. Obama was trained as a super Community Organizer by none other than George Soros, another (Nazis) well-known Community Organizer. What do you expect? The poor little twit hasn’t a clue how to prevent 40% unemployment…He hopes the Republicans will be blamed for his failure, or that they will spin thier wheels on nonsense…
The Congress must do the right thing….
Time for a Flat income tax (screw progressive taxation that result in 53% that don’t pay anything). 14% for everyone, NO loopholes
IRS Re-focused to go after the unreported economy (including barter).
The SS/Medicare MUST not be added to general revenue (IOW Bonds). All money collected by payroll must be placed in a lock BOX & the > 17 Trillion presently owed (stolen by creative accounting) returned to the lock Box.. The Administration MUST be made independent of Government and the funding of NEW initiatives by stealing money from SS or Medicare (like the Obama-Care 500B) declared illegal.
The Welfare systems including civil service, education, Etc. Must be reorganized as a temporary status (less than 5 years)…No life time career except in critical positions; like
SOME firemen, SOME Police. 95% of Education funding must be spent in the Class Rooms on qualified teachers…No more Clown classes…All administration functions to be eliminated or minimized…

  15. “The Rent is Too Damn High” from the last election has become “Pass this Bill” now.
The grating of Obamassiah’s voice is beyond irritating.

  16. Obama is becoming America’s first irrelevant president. Everyone is now ignoring him, liberals and conservatives alike.
Although I don’t share Obama’s politics, this is not good. We can not afford America to be a rudderless ship.

  17. Indulging in such fantasies is fine for adolescents gushing after the newest pop icon, but hardly appropriate for the voters of the most powerful nation on earth.

Which is pretty much why I dropped Sarah Palin.
Obama speechifiying: I’m pretty mild-mannered with my only recently-politicized wife of 41 years, but I have been known to scream at her when the remote lands momentarily on the head-bobbing scolder. GET.IF.OFF.NOW, I usually suggest.
