“As headlines blared the almost surrealistic brutality of Al Qaeda, Senator Patty Murray told a group of high school honor students that Osama bin Laden was popular in poor countries because he paid for day care centers. ‘We haven’t done that,’ Murray said. ‘How would they look at us today if we had been there helping them with some of that rather than just being the people who are going to bomb in Iraq and go to Afghanistan?'”
For those of you who get the Documentary Channel, they’re running a very good documentary (and replaying it later) called “102 Minutes That Changed America.” No narration, just citizens’s footage (with audio).
Funny EBD but I thought wenches that worked or left the house without a family male escort, or even dared to learn to read and write were flogged, hung or shot. Day care centers? Who is that a$$ hat kidding..day care…

“A majority (56%) of Canadians believes conflict between Western nations and the Muslim world is “irreconcilable,” according to a new national survey”. Why do 44% still have their heads in the sand? Although I expect that a certain percentage of the 44% give tacit approval for the war against western civilization. More verses of kumbaya will not fix it.

EBD, perhaps someone should remind Senator Murray that good-hearted people have always reached out to the perpetually poor and aggrieved in the Middle East and Indonesia and are STILL hated.
What a maroon, as Bugs Bunny would say.
Ahem, I remind everyone again that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers do indeed suck.
That is all.
I might be a bit late for this, but I just saw it. John Stewart’s speech from the first Daily Show after 9/11.

Huge ad in yesterday’s Van Sun from Indigo – You know how they like to promote Canadian writers, eh?
Big push for authors like Michael Ondaatje, Robert Bateman, Mordecai Richler, Margaret Atwood, Yann Martel (who keeps sending Harper books he thinks he should read), Jann Arden (oh, she writes now?), Ron MacLean (yes, that MacLean), Adrienne Clarkson (oh good God!), and 5 or 6 others I have never heard of. Meanwhile, hovering around the top of many book-lists, is Mark Steyn and Michael Coren – but you wouldn’t know it from Indigo and Chapters!
I was recently given a copy of a CBC “circular” that was sent out to old folks homes, it is an all out attack on Steven Harper, stating that the Harper govt. wants to lay waste to the, poor little “CBC” and just send all your money please G-maw, and it will help save the pathetic CBC leftie/commies from the “EVIL” Harrrrper. Has anyone else seen this despicable tripe, I will post a copy as soon as I can figure out how to, the part that really got me was, it is only in English, not the obligatory Frenchy and Englais that these sucks shove down our throats all the time. This is serious folks and I would like to know if anyone else has seen it.
EBD 10:00pm, Excellent link. As far as I know, the only “daycare” OBL funded was madrasas that churn out radical islamists.
Seems to me that it’s the dads who need the daycare; then they might not “have” to take the kiddies with them to jihad. But who would cry if there were no children killed when honest soldiers fight terror?
No building day cares would be cause for OBL to attack.
Michelle Malkin gives Koward Krugman a much needed kick in the balls. The only problem is, he clearly doesn’t have any.
Although they didn’t manage any attacks on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, thanks to the vigilance the security agencies, we can expect they’ll try again in the run up to Christmas. Muslims hate Christmas and want to make it a time of suffering for the infidels.
@ Robert:
Your getting much too exercised about “Koward Krugman”. His pathetic meanderings should be ignored in much the same way as Kieth Olberman’s fulminating.
These voices are bad for your digestion, causing dispepsia or gas.
I mean if your not going to allow feedback on your own NYT birdliner bird brain rant; really what is the point? Obviously the poor man is suffering from solipsism, and can only take input from his own enfeebled mind. Koward Krugman isn’t dealing with reality; he is divorced from it.

Here is a disgusting piece of editorial craptoon that appeared in the Vancouver paper, The Province. Basically to me justifying the attacks of 9/11 and appeasing the radical islamist, wouldn’t want to offend those defenders of the religion of piece, they may kill you. Just as disturbing no one in the lame stream media challenged them on it, they need to be help account for such disrespectful crap. The worldwide news site reported a scene that brought back ugly memories of the gang rape of CBS reporter Lara Logan earlier this year during the Arab spring uprising against the Mubarak regime.”

“**Quebec economy needs China: Charest”
“China will become in 2011 our secondmost important economic partner, and that will be for the foreseeable future, for the rest of our lives,” the premier said at the end of a two-day caucus meeting of his Liberal party.”
“There are 1.3 billion people in China,” Charest said. “Every year, they add 30 million people to the middle class. That’s the equivalent of the population of Canada.”

“Blue Dragon Mountain: the Chinese village ‘that doesn’t exist'”
“It is a story that could be told a thousand times a day in modern China: bow-legged peasants driven from their homes and swept off their land with scant compensation in the name of China’s headlong rush for economic development.”
“For those driven by economic necessity to live outside the system, like the residents of Blue Dragon Mountain and millions of migrant workers across China, the consequences are life-defining.
“Without a resident’s paper, I can’t even get a birth certificate for my baby,” says Zhang Yin, a 24-year-old villager, who is heavily pregnant with a child soon to born into the limbo of Qinglongshan.
“He will not exist as a proper citizen of China, he will find it hard to get into a proper school, or get a good job. All we ask is that the government give us proper recognition, and not make our children pay for the sins of their fathers.””

B.C.’s Civil Forfeiture Act – Policing for Profit
It’s time to end civil forfeiture. People shouldn’t lose their property without being convicted of a crime, and law enforcement shouldn’t be able to profit from other people’s property.

@ AtlanticJim, I agree. It was very easy to follow the sequence of events and quite telling at the moment of impact.

“The Conservatives are still really tough — they’ll try and block your access — but McKay’s good for it. One time, when he and Belinda Stronach were dating or splitting up or something, there was all this press and he was trying to avoid it. I called one of the parliamentary pages over and I wrote on a note ‘McKay, it’s Critch, b’y. Don’t be such a friggin’ sook.’
The page brought it to him and he came out, saying, ‘OK, OK.’”
