Tonight’s featured amusement en route to the Reader Tips comments thread is a song about a unhappy fellow who has been dumped by his girlfriend. It’s not touching, poignant, or heart-rending in any way; no, we’re talking pure catharsis. Here’s a video of Ben Folds Five, fronted by – wait for it – Ben Folds, performing Song For The Dumped.

Sorry about the National enquirer link, but hey a better read than most MSMs.
That’s a great suggestion, Bernie. I’ll probably do that soon.
Jonathan Kay:
“This Liberal fetish for quasi-religious self-veneration has been around so long in this country that we have lost track of how weird it is. When justifying their party affiliation, Conservative, NDP, Bloc and even Green supporters typically will recite a set of reasonably specific policy positions and values. The same is true, in the United States, of Democrats and Republicans (many of whom actually run against their own party brand). With Liberals, on the other hand, you tend to get empty cliches and historical references built around the tautology that the Liberals are great because they are the party of greatness.”
Kay goes on to write that one of the two ways “Liberal self-love sabotages the party” is that it “has made the Liberals existentially incompetent at the act of opposition, since the role itself is seen as an insult to the natural order of the universe.”
Truer words were never spoken. Have you ever noticed that even certain media outlets treat the fact that the Liberals aren’t in power as evidence of something wrong? It’s sort of a “What’s wrong with the Liberals? Why aren’t they in power? They’re supposed to be in power. This is weird…”
EBD, I read the article and agree with your last paragraph @ 12:57. A Liberal friend of mine says that the Liberals being out of power is a temporary aberration.
Yes, I know, a Liberal friend? This friend would be an old army buddy. We try to avoid discussing politics as much as possible.
BTW, speaking of pianers, I miss the time when our children were still at home and practiced their pianer lessons. The consolation is that now one of them teaches voice and pianer and participates as a support singer in local operas.
“Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.”
“In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran.”
“To ensure the Israeli bombers pass unmolested, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defence systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom’s air defences will return to full alert.”
(…)
“Sources in Saudi Arabia say it is common knowledge within defence circles in the kingdom that an arrangement is in place if Israel decides to launch the raid. Despite the tension between the two governments, they share a mutual loathing of the regime in Tehran and a common fear of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. ‘We all know this. We will let them [the Israelis] through and see nothing,’ said one.”

This only goes to prove that pianars are as pianars do.

Drones are in the air only minutes from Iran.
They are controlled by video game experts sitting at consoles in Arizona.
Sounder & EBD: sorry bout that – did not see your comment re: Atlas – I did a quick sweep, don’t know how I missed it.

So a couple of “video game experts siting in Arizona” can decide the fate of the free world?
Move away from the couch pal.

The kind of ordinance that may very well be deployed in Iran, will not be carried by drones. We’re not talking about taking out a building or vehicle.

‘Case in point, Peter Mansbridge’s One on One with Justin Trudeau, a re-run aired on the CBC last night. I was glued to the tube like watching a train wreck. Even Mansbridge, looking increasingly uncomfortable as Justin spouted platitudes, generalities, and cliches, seemed to be aware of the vacuousness of his subject.

‘Quiet morning at SDA: ‘people either in bed or at church.
From Holy Post in the National Post yesterday, an article by Charles Lewis, “The religious voice is one that needs to be heard,” (via Deborah Gyapong):
“Religious people deserve a voice, and not just from the religious media. It is worth reminding those who would ignore religious citizens that [it] is most often the churches, in the name of Christ, who feed and house the homeless, who care for society’s discards and care deeply about their fellow citizens. If they are ignored in the mainstream media, our democracy will suffer for it.”
