The Sound Of All Hell Breaking Loose, Pt. 11

Now you know why they chose a railroad engineer to head up the IPCC…

“He said an independent inquiry into the emails would achieve little, but there should be a criminal investigation into how the emails came to light.”

Considering that news editors North America wide had determined within hours that the 62 megabyte document dump revealed no data chicanery whatsoever, it’s odd he felt the need to speak at all.
Climategate really is just like Watergate – complete with Deep Code, the Internet Plumbers, and Bob Woodward in the role of Nixon.

  1. They didn’t choose him because he was a practicing engineer, Kate, they chose him because he’s a lackey bureaucrat. Had he been a legitimate railroad engineer, he certainly would have put the brakes on before allowing this train wreck that now threatens his entire empire.

  2. Ain’t that the guy that flew, like, a half-million miles last year on “IPCC business” like honorary degrees, dinner and cricket?
    Thanks for helping, dude.

  3. BTW – that’s a tidbit everyone can keep handy when someone argues that “Dr.Skeptic Physicist isn’t a climate scientist!
“The Chair of the IPCC is a railroad engineer”

  4. Here is my favorite quote from the article:
“I really think people should be discreet … in this day and age anything you write, even privately, could become public and to put anything down in writing is, to say the least, indiscreet … It is another matter to talk about this to your friends on the telephone or person to person but to put it down in writing was indiscreet”
Rule number 1 – never write anything down. Indiscretion leaves a paper trail

  5. And yet we still continue to slump towards Copenhagen.
Lot’s of press that there will be no concensus at Copenhagen. BS! It has already been decided what the targets will be, it just depends how much bullying will be required.

  6. ROFLMAO!!!… Fred; that page at CBC that you linked to has mysteriously disappeared. (Quirks and Quarks). Is suppressing dissent a credit course?

  7. The Chinese Government will never sign onto the UN’s “One World Government” wealth distribution scheme.
Like killer sharks the Chinese smell blood in the water …. American blood … they know the prey is weakened by their massive debt, they will not be hamstrung in the future, when the time is right China will strike and they alone will be the masters in the world.
Meanwhile Barry will be bowing low in Copenhagen.
I can only hope Harper stands tall, and does not agree to the corrupt UN scheme, for Canada’s sake.

  8. “CBC finally released this by David Suzuki’s hand puppet Bob McDonald..”
Bob McDonald is really “Baghdad Bob”
I heard another clown on the radio this morning from the Sierra Club who was repeating the same drivel that McDonald has posted. They are trying to focus everyone on the emails in the hope that people will not realize about the release of computer, programmer comments, etc. The fraud artists are in panic mode….and they are looking absolutely ridiculous.

  9. Our media continue to report how wonderful China is for saying they’ll sign on to emissions reductaions … yadda, yadda, yadda
But ya gotta remember our journalists are arithmetically challenged and can’t figure our China is blowing smoke up their wazoo. China has said it will commit to “intensity cuts” which means they still increase their massive emissions just a little bit slower.
And the kicker is that China says if you want us to reduce more, you’ll just have to pay us 1% of your GDP as a penalty.
Canada’s bill would be about $13 Billion.
And that would be on top of the Copenhagen para 41 Climate Guilt Tax of .7% of our GDP – that’s an annual payment to the UN.
Obama is going to Copenhagen/COP15 for a drive by smile and then getting the hell out before it turns into a total Gong Show.
Besides, China won’t loan him the money to sign up and the US Congress will reject it outright.

  10. I’m not sure I’m even comfortable that George Monbiot’s siding with the sane people here, but… well, hey, Noam Chomsky has spoken out against the HRCs. You take what you can get.

“Global Warming E-Mails Scandal Show Scientists May Have Cooked the Facts
By Peter Roff, Thomas Jefferson Street blog
It is starting to look like President Barack Obama, aided and abetted by former Vice President Al Gore, Sens. Barbara Boxer, and John F. Kerry and others, may have lied this nation into a war against man-made global warming.
Preliminary analysis of the contents of thousands of E-mails and documents taken from the computer archives of the Climate Research Unit at England’s University of East Anglia—possibly by a hacker, possibly by a whistleblower—indicate a number of the world’s most important scientists engaged in research designed to prove that global warming really does exist may have been cooking the books.
As columnist Michael Barone wrote in Sunday’s Washington Examiner, “The CRU has been a major source of data on global temperatures, relied on by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. But the e-mails suggest that CRU scientists have been suppressing and misstating data and working to prevent the publication of conflicting views in peer-reviewed science periodicals.”
If true, the cooking of the temperature data to provide support for the idea that man-made global warming is occurring is a scandal of most serious proportions. It should force policymakers to reconsider the role science plays in the formulation of policy if its conclusions can be manipulated the way those concerning climate change now appear to have been.
Some of those involved in the E-mail chains that are now under examination have concocted what on their face come across as bizarre explanations for some of the things they said, many of which boil down to the notion that the words they used did not mean what they mean. It sort of takes us back to what the meaning of “is” is.

  17. Fred, I went to your link. I could only get through a few comments. What drivel. Typical cbc nonsense. Some people are really F*cked up.
I’m going for a shower now, to wash all the ‘green’ slime off.
Sign me: A well armed denier, who’s getting really tired of leftist bullshit.

  18. Just sent this to the CBC Ombudsman
    ombudsman@cbc.ca
“As a taxpayer, forced to support the CBC, I ask you to actually cover “Climategate” and not act as a relay station for the coverup. ”
I suspect that I will, in due time, hear some sappy music and the recorded message “Your comments are important to us”

  19. ‘ole Bob over at Quirks and Denials is taking a real old fashioned s*it kicking over his torqued piece on the CBC website..talk about selective interpretation on his part!!

  20. orvict, I noticed in the comments that several times Ian Plimer, Australian geologist and author of the excellent book, Heaven and Earth and I am assuming he was using his own name as a poster, was rejected each time. If it was the real Plimer they obviously didn’t like what he was writing. I will write to him and check it out.
Always notice the same thing from posters that still support the AGW party line. Full of generalities, ad hominems and rarely any facts supporting their continued believe in this scam.

  21. Did you notice in the link behind the words “railroad engineer” the article refers to the “UAE”. The United Arab Emirates, I presume. Funny they would be involved in pimping AGW.

  22. Just got this answer
    “Dear Patrick Armstrong:
I write to acknowledge receipt of your e-mail. It is the customary practice of CBC’s Office of the Ombudsman to share complaints with the relevant programmers, who have the right to respond first to criticism of their work. I have therefore shared your e-mail with Jennifer McGuire, General Manager and Editor in Chief of CBC News. If you are not satisfied with the response you receive you may ask me to review the matter.
    Sincerely,
    Vince Carlin
    CBC Ombudsman”

  23. I am so happy that you are onto this file big time, Kate. We really do now need people like you to reveal what the MSM will not, internationally. Keep up the great work and watch your brave back.

    Consider this:
“Some scientists like to play with the notion that global disaster may result if environmental pollution continues unchecked. According to one scenario, the planet is already well advanced toward a phenomenon call ‘the greenhouse effect’.Concentrations of carbon dioxide are building up in the atmosphere, it is said, as the world’s vegetation which feeds on C02 is progressively chopped down. Hanging in the atmosphere, it forms a barrier trapping the planet’s heat. As a result, the greenhouse theorists contend, the world is threatened with a rise in average temperature which, if it reache 4 or 5 degress, could melt the polar ice caps and raise sea level by as much as 300 feet and cause a worldwide flood…. ”
This is what bears the name of “science” today. It is on the basis of this kind of stuff that your are being pushed into a new Dark Age.

“THE HEART AND SOUL OF ENVIRONMENTALISM
PRODOS SPEAKS WITH PETER SCHWARTZ, Founder of The Intellectual Activist,
Chairman of the Board of the Ayn Rand Institute, Editor of
Return of The Primitive – an update of The New Left:
    The Anti-Industrial Revolution.
PRODOS: (INTRO) I was in the supermarket the other day in one of those
12 items or less express lanes and a lady just ahead of me had a
few items she’d bought that were going through the checkout.
But she refused a plastic bag to put them in. She was going to
struggle along. She carried some in her handbag and some under
her arm and anyway it was grueling to watch.
Amazed and appalled – shaking my head – I watched the farce.
My turn now. The checkout guy looked at me with my long hair and
unusual way of dressing – probably thinking I’m a hippie and a
greenie too. But before he could say a word I blurted out
“I wanna plastic bag! I’m not an Environmentalist! I don’t
support rubbish and nonsense like that!”
He looked at me with great approval.
Today I want to look at Environmentalism – it’s heart and soul.
What is it really about? Regular listeners know that I’m TOTALLY
opposed to the Environmental movement and we’ve often on this
program shown up many of the silly contradictions and outright
LIES put forward by Environmentalists. God they really are a
    bunch of whackers!
Most recently I spoke to [the late] John Daly – the author of
Still Waiting For Greenhouse and we talked about the
‘Global Warming’ scam. Also to Tom Brabin – all about the
Forestry Industry and some of the things happening there.
But today let’s go a few levels deeper into the issues.
Let’s get philosophical! Let’s look at the ideas, the motivations,
the PRINCIPLES underlying the Green movement.
Now I warn you, you may be in for a shock. If you ever thought
the planet was in trouble because of what’s happening to its
environment then get ready to find out what trouble really is.
Because what the Environmentalists are doing to your life, your
liberty, your property, your future is unbelievable. It’s stranger
    than fiction.
    It’s a nightmare.” {…]
PRODOS: Peter, would you say that Environmentalism is not much different
from a religion or a dogma?
PETER SCHWARTZ: Well it is certainly a dogma and it certainly has
crucial aspects in common with religion. I don’t know if that’s
the place to START because most people have the view of Environmentalism
    as being scientifically based.
Environmentalists present themselves on the surface as being concerned
with evidence, with science, with logic and telling people what the
factual consequences of certain actions or certain technologies are.
But in reality it’s exactly the opposite. I don’t think Environmentalists
CARE about scientific evidence. I think they are motivated not by
science but by a certain MORAL PREMISE and that premise is something
that ties them very much to religion and accounts for their views on technology.”

  25. This wingnut brays about the Obama promise to cut emissions. Obama’s pledge has about as much validity as mine: I pledge to bring peace to the world, end poverty, and promise good crop yields. And I pledge this will all happen by tomorrow.
Obama can pledge till the cows come home but, until I see the U.S. congress vote to make this pledge a reality, I’ll refrain from dancing in the street.
This choo-choo driver is a true son of the AGW fruitloops, he’ll clutch at ant straw to validate his indefensible position and, seeing how well Asia’s rail system appears to operate, he is the perfect person for this goofy organization.

  26. I love how the Climategate denialists keep saying that Realclimate was “Hacked,” what happened was somebody tried to leave a comment, and Gavin jumped on it as it sat in “moderation”. This is the proof that Andy Revkin, short bus “science writer” for the NYT gives that the emails were “obtained illegally.”
It is like they think that just because they are climatologists, they can piss on our leg and call it rain.
They are doing the same thing with the new mamography standards:
    http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/kausfiles/archive/2009/11/28/end-the-stigma-of-stigma.aspx
Read the second item about “biostatistics” and how hard they are for the unwashed to understand.

  27. Ian at November 30, 2009 4:08 PM
Nice highlight,Ian. He’s saying that conspiracies should be kept private. Hmmm. Well, that’s sound advice for conspirators.
What is not genreally understand by people, at large, is that e-mail is not private.
E-mail employs the UDP (User Data Protocl), which is entirely open and public. In fact, you do not even know how an e-mail got from sender to recipient. And anyone can receive it and you don’t know.
The internet is a public space; anything you say or do there is as visible to everyone, just as it would be in an Attic Stoa or Agora.

  28. Q & Q’s Bob seems to have had enough. He had to have dissallowed so many posts that ghis poor pointy finger became warm and achey.
Bob, wake up; you are a victim! It is OK to admit it!
OK Actually you are a useful idiot who thinks they’re smart buit are really dumb.

  29. My post to CBC’s Bob Q&Q:
Bob, I understand and feel your pain. You have dutifully served up all the fraudulent AGW propaganda and now here you are, a true believer, left high and dry on the rocks of reality, reputation shreded.
Take to the lifeboat reason and shed your soul of the guilt of gullibility. Renounce now, to the public, your innocent culpability in this ideological crime.
    DENOUNCE THE CRIMATOLOGISTS.

  30. Actually, RW, it’s User Datagram Protocol, and in fact, email, or at least the common SMTP form, does not use UDP, it uses TCP. Or at least typically. And TCP is not broadcast, so normally SMTP mail is not visible to unintended readers. However, I do agree that email is not private, or certainly shouldn’t be considered so by its users. Even if sent over VPNs, a proper IT department will have backups up the wazoo. So, for example, if you send me email, by morning it will be backed up on four machines in geographically disperse locations. Plus, we have roll-backward mirrors, so even if I delete your mail tomorrow, it will be in the backups for over a year.

  31. Vitruvius, Well, I stand corrected. I just do this stuff; I don’t know how it works or even to use it.
You’re right. SMTP uses TCP. So it is more secure than Internet voice phones, using RTP, buried in UDP packets. And all without QOS.
Thanks, tho, for the correction to my head …. er … knowledge base. 🙂

  32. More CO2 belches from Choo-Choo Pachauri who is, The Times says, “a leading world authority on climate science” and a “scientist”.
    And, a “Dr”.
Choo-Choo: ““At some point we will have to cross over and start sucking some of those gases out of the atmosphere.””
Choo-Choo fingers the “fossil fuel lobby”, aka Big Oil, as the villains who are behind the ClimateGate burglary caper.
But, listen to Choo-Choo suck’n’blow here:
    …-
Carbon must be sucked from air, says IPCC chief Rajendra Pachauri”
“Dr Pachauri, speaking to The Times on Saturday before travelling to Paris to brief President Sarkozy, suggested that the fossil fuel lobby could be behind a hacking incident last month that led to the publication of thousands of leaked e-mails between climate scientists. He said that it was entirely possible that “corporate interests” had had a hand in the leak.
Dr Pachauri, who was in London for a lecture at the Wellcome Trust organised by the BBC World Service, demanded an immediate investigation into the hacking of e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s climatic research unit, which he branded an “illegal act”.
He said: “One needs firstly to find out personally who is responsible, who the culprits are and what were their motives. And unless we do that it is likely that similar things will happen in the future.””
