It is currently pleasant, clear and sunny with more rain coming again this evening…..I shall endeaver, today, to shift my reserve wood (on skids) into the shed.

The ice melt across during the Antarctic summer (October-January) of 2008-2009 was the lowest ever recorded in the satellite history.
Such was the finding reported last week by Marco Tedesco and Andrew Monaghan in the journal Geophysical Research Letters:
A 30-year minimum Antarctic snowmelt record occurred during austral summer 2008–2009 according to spaceborne microwave observations for 1980–2009. Strong positive phases of both the El-Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Southern Hemisphere Annular Mode (SAM) were recorded during the months leading up to and including the 2008–2009 melt season.
The silence surrounding this publication was deafening.
It would seem that with oft-stoked fears of a disastrous sea level rise coming this century any news that perhaps some signs may not be pointing to its imminent arrival would be greeted by a huge sigh of relief from all inhabitants of earth (not only the low-lying ones, but also the high-living ones, respectively under threat from rising seas or rising energy costs).
But not a peep.
But such is not always the case—or rather, such is not ever the case when ice melt is pushing the other end of the record scale.

It seems that the agenda is set. Winter is upon us early its cold out but the train has left the station on global warming, yer gettin it whether you like it or not. Grok, the verdict’s not in yet. While Obama is indeed on track for that title, he still has to beat out Jimmy Carter. It might even end up a dual award, like when two people share a Nobel. We could call it the “Ignobel Prize for Worst Presidential Leadership”.

The problem, folks, is that these world government aspirers are winning. Some declaration restricting freedom and democracy is going to be presented in Copenhagen in the first two weeks of December. The global warmist class from all over the world will be assembled there for one of their usual boondoggles, but the outcome is likely to be the new world constitution at least as concerns large parts of our economy and polity. And if our country signs up for the new world constitution, it’s going to smother large parts of our own. We know that most of the Euro dolts will sign; Britain and France have already given up so much sovereignty to the EU that one more major intrusion doesn’t seem to matter to them. The only Euro holdouts will be Czechs and Poles.
On this side of the pond, our great ally, the USA has gone over to the dark side. For the past eight years, GWB held back the tide of environmental fascism; but now Obama will not stand in its way, in fact he is ushering it in.

Obama is off to a good start, but he still has a ways to go. Give him time though, and I think he can do a similar amount of damage or more.
Good interview with Nigel Lawson (An Appeal to Reason) on Power Play the other day. Lawson explicitly mentions the left wing ideologues using AGW to drive their agenda. His book deserves wide attention. Only a strong voice of protest from a generally complacent public will stop the AGW train.

__ I would love to see Harper reject any anti-democratic Copenhagen initiatives. I agree with felis — something is coming down. Unfortunately, anytime we don’t go along with the “rest of the world” Libs and left wing ideologues take political advantage — regardless of what’s in the best interests of Canadians. You need only look at the sacred cow “Kyoto” to know that this is true.

LindaL and everyone: We can’t let the left wing ideologues and their slew of “useful idiots” sell out our freedom and our democracy to serve the biggest political scam in all of history. Not without kicking up a hell of a fuss before it goes down. We need to write our MP’s and Mr. Harper himself and make sure they hear that there are a lot of us out here who don’t want Copenhagen to be Canada’s Waterloo. We don’t want Canada to become just another cipher nation in an expanded type of EU vision.
I don’t believe that Mr. Harper is interested in signing any Kyoto type document coming out of Copenhagen but, just in case, we need to help stiffen his resolve.
