Jay Rosen has an open letter to the people of CBS. A year after “Rathergate”, he’d like to know what they’ve learned.
People of CBS News, the Net knows more than you. The chances are fairly high that a given producer at CBS would not know enough southern history to grasp what Senator Trent Lott was actually saying when he praised Strom Thurmond’s 1948 campaign for president. The chances of the blogosphere not knowing this background are zero.

“What we have learned this far is not surprising. Annan has presided over an administration in New York that seems to have conceived its task as that of a public relations front for dictators and serial violators of human rights, while squeezing the UN’s principal donor, the United States taxpayers, with inflated rhetoric of global responsibility to eliminate poverty in an interdependent world…”

Al Qaeda’s Mosul Leaders Captured
It appears that the terrorists operating in and around Mosul are being rolled up with great success. Just twelve days ago, the head of al Qaeda’s operations in Mosul was captured. It appears that he may be talking, as his successor and another top leader, Taha Ibrahim Yasin Becher, also known as Abu Fatima, and Hamed Saeed Ismael Mustafa, also known as Abu Shahed, were captured together some time within the past few days.
These arrests occur within the context of successful military operations in the region:
On Thursday, Major General Rick Lynch said security forces had killed 226 militants and captured 757 in recent operations in Mosul and the surrounding area.
This is not a happy time to be a terrorist in Iraq.

I scanned the document provided on the link. Nothing surprised me there. No doubt the MSM is in deep trouble owing to its own doing, much like the Liberal gov’t in Canada.
This morning I posted on the Canadian Sentinel my analysis of the reporting of CTV’s Tom Clark on US President Bush’s plans for the rebuilding of New Orleans. As you’ll see, I found Mr. Clark to be guilty of blending his biased opinions with facts in order to manipulate news consumers. I also just this moment realized that the CTV itself is as remiss here as was the CBS in allowing a reporter to conduct himself with such bias in reporting.

Apparently, you can’t really say everything you say.
That’s apparently what Yogi Berra has proved to Turner Broadcasting.
The network has agreed in principle to pay the former New York Yankees catcher for using his name without his permission in an advertisement for its “Sex And The City” reruns. The ad asked consumers about the definition of the word “Yogasm.”
One answer to the multiple choice question included “sex with Yogi Berra.”
In January, Berra filed a lawsuit in New York Supreme Court, asking for $10 million. The lawsuit pointed out that the 80-year-old Berra is “a married man and has children and grandchildren. He is a deeply religious man who has maintained and continues to maintain a moral lifestyle, and has a spotless reputation for integrity, decency and moral character.” >>>

One would hope that the fine folks at CBS have been out on ebay by now to acquire period IBM Selectric typewriters to make their next attempts more of a challenge. 🙂
