…the State of Nebraska managed to pass legislation that allows US parents of Canadian-born children to be abducted to Nebraska, and whatever our courts here in Canada decided can be thrown out the window. All you need is a plane ticket an abuse allegation and you’re good to go.

plus the complainers didnt want to do anything, just bitch and then wait for someone else to act.
that wasn’t his way so he stepped aside. plus his kids form first marriage are all grown up and have long since realized the truth of the situation and they get along fine now. one is in the military and the other recently got a huge promotion and moved to toronto where all the money is.

Why would anyone abduct these parents to Nebraska? Just curious..
I live in Saskatchewan. My ex and I had two kids, when we split, my son stayed with me. A year later, my daugther turned 12–she chose to come and live with us.
My daughter was living with us, yet the ex managed to get a support order where I had to pay the mother child support. To add misery to mayhem, my daughter was attending a private school, I was paying for her tuition.
She lived with us on weekends.
When a nation creates a system of justice that is irrational, another nation will come along and rectify the injustice. Question: Why would Canada allow the child to leave?? Arresting the American and throwing them in jail would solve the problem.
No mention of Islamic countries who steal kids. Of course there would not be. to an Obama & his ilk their law is superior to ours.
Canada should start its own atomic defense.
Its apparent where not under the American protective Umbrella anymore.

Yes, I’m confused here too. Does this mean an American parent came to Canada and returned to the US with their (Canadian-born) child? How exactly would that be an abduction? Was the child kidnapped and secretly transported across the international border?
Also confusing: the writ of Nebraska law runs no further than the state line. So any Nebraska legislation “allowing” abductions from a province of Canada to Nebraska is entirely moot.
My experience of the American government from ten years messing with their immigration department is that it is run by and populated with maniacs, imbeciles, and sullen blobs of semi-mobile pork fat. The article is BUSINESS AS USUAL in state, local and federal jurisdictions in the USA.
Americans are welcoming, open, generous people. America government in contrast is extraordinarily insular, ignorant, arrogant and heavy handed. If you plan to do business there, move there or otherwise interact with American officialdom, attempt to do so -from Canada-. You will sleep better.
Also take note, Americans know this about their officials. Hence the current and continuing run on firearms and ammunition.
Have had several male friends with similar stories of abuse in BC courts. One friend found that things seemed to speed along as soon as he ran out of money. The trick seems to be to get knowledgeable and fight your own case in court. They don’t like that very much.

If BC would prevent parents from leaving for the US with the kid to begin with, this wouldn’t be a problem.
As for allogations of abuse, isn’t purgery, false allogations, and lies to the courts/police considered CRIMES? Why is it that in the legal system a woman is a man but without accountability?
As the result of the occasional exceptionally egregious Child Welfare lapses, family courts in the States sometimes make decisions based on perceived worst-case scenarios. The court system in general spends inordinate time and resources trying to make sense of the irrational rather than describing outrageous situations plainly and acting to resolve them. This woman clearly needs to be dealt with in a straightforward fashion so everyone can get on with their lives. It ain’t going to happen.
Good luck to this gentleman and especially to his daughter. One suspects she will need it.
