  1. Tough talk from Dion to Harper….
Don’t make me count to 3 or else
    1…2…2 & 1/2…2 & 2/4…2 & 4/8…….

  2. u do know that bloggingtories and liblogs are run by the same people right??? we checked and we found it strange that the right would blog on sites that is run by hard left people who control what is witten.

  3. Looks like posturing for a coalition government. There is no possible way the Liberals can be serious otherwise. Is there?

  4. There wont be an election if the government falls within 6 months….the GG will ask the opposition leader if he can get the confidence of the house….that requires the Bloc to say yes…why wouldnt they, they are all for confusion anyway, and unlikely they want an election.
Canadians said they wanted a minority, that minority governments were good…now they have one.
Stephane has announced his intentions, fighting the last war…but he is going to count, like a good liberal, on an appointment.

  5. Who listens to Dion anymore?
Really …. does he have ANY credibility left?
Like he has political currency to force an election.
Maybe he is a die hard right wing undercover secret operative. Actually, that might explain a lot wouldn’t it.

  6. Dion is trying to reach Obama so the Messiah can publicly mention Stephane and the Liberal party in a good light. Then citoyen will take down Harper as our media will replay the O’s blip ad nauseum and Dion will take the country by storm.
Then both can invade and negotiate with Pakistan.
Those 2 Quebec clowns (Our hard earned culture taxes at work) that punked Sarah Palin might have more luck reaching the big O than Stephanie though.

  7. I wouldn’t put it past that Hatian Voodoo princess to try and pull a stunt like that.
The question is: Would the Canadian electorate stand for it? Unfortunately I’m afraid of what the answer will be…

  8. Off Topic BUT: Go to National News Watch and read the story about the Lib’s leadership. No one cane run if they have outstanding debits. My links get blocked by the filter.

  9. bryanr…you are so right. Notice that most..OK…98% of the ones slagging PMSH and cheering Steffi on the Criminal Reforms are from Troana??? Guess they like their crime ridden status. HEY. They can brag that they have taken over NYC for murders and violent crimes and really become the centre of the universe!

  10. It is a sad commentary that this is actually news. Liberals acting responsibly. Of course Dion wants another election to prove his manliness and get his deserved majority before the leadership convention.
The parties, especially those on the left, are too whipped now. Allow more free voting based on the needs of an MPs constituents, not what is best for the liberals.
If the Conservatives lose a confidence vote, either the liberals/NDP try to form a coalition or we are going to the polls. If anyone tries a coalition with the BQ, it would be the death knell of that party.
PS – Anyone heard about Harper stepping down, as per media reports right after the election?

  11. phhh.
    From Feb 2006:
“Opposition Leader Bill Graham said he will not be afraid to defeat Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s minority Conservative government, even though the Liberal Party will spend much of the year in a leadership race.”
Who believes these monkeys anymore? Then again what else can they say? They have to make believe.

  13. Justthinkin,
To be more to the point Washington DC followed by Detroit are now the most violent cities in North America…I think Chicago (The O’s town) is third…remember Rudy Guliani cleaned up the big apple some years ago. He is a man who can dress as a woman for fun, not a pure drag queen like Miller.

  14. The NDP went whole hog this time round….while they get a chunk of change back for election expenses is it full rebate? Are they taking on any extra debt? They may not be as interested in an election either.
Of course that may make them interested in the GG option, no muss no fuss no election and they get some power….things that make you go hmmmmm.

  15. “remember Rudy Guliani cleaned up the big apple some years ago. He is a man who can dress as a woman for fun, not a pure drag queen like Miller.

Now,now RHTT. No need to insult drag queens by comparing them to Miller. Point taken about D.C.

  16. According to the latest print copy of Macleans, if the government falls within the first nine months, the GG “will have to ask the leader of the Opposition if he can form a government.”

  17. IMO Dion is just blowin some hot air in the Wind, He knows the Taxpayers would not tolerate a Overthrow of the Govt. in order to form a Coalition of the Left And i dont think the Conservatives are even going to put forth some stupid policy that temp’s them to try a coalition.
As for the the Senate thats a different story, with the finacial situations as they are & people tightening their belts this maybe a good time for the Conservatives to try & push a Senate Reform bill through the house.
But thats My Humble Opinion have a great weekend & fri nite all

  18. Being the brilliant strategist he is, and not only being aware of the dirty tricks of the Librano$, Dippers, and Blockheads but having dodged them for the past two and a half years, it’s likely that Prime Minister Stephen Harper is figuring out some … strategies to head off a lib-left coalition government.
I don’t trust the GG, seeing as she’s a dyed-in-the-wool lib-left-fembo, cap in hand to the Librano$. In fact, I hope that when her term is up, she is quickly replaced. She and her PQ Separatist husband are really making hay in the vice-regal mansion and, much like La Diva Clarkson and her ex-Excellency’s husband, have played fast and loose with the travel accommodations attached to the position.
Could we please have someone in the position of Governor-General who has served our country honourably and who understands the sacrificial/ servanthood aspect of the position? La Diva Michaelle Jean couldn’t even drag her butt over to London for the Queen’s 80th birthday celebrations as she “had” to attend a play based on her life being performed by the students at Nelson Mandela school in downtown Toronto.
As I pointed out to her in a letter of protest I sent to her, the Queen, who she represents in Canada, turns 80 only once in her life. The students at Nelson Mandela PS could, no doubt, perform their play pretty much anytime without suffering any ill effects.
She answered about six months later with some lame excuse.
    ENOUGH. RE. PLACE. HER.

  19. I see…Stephanie can’t be PM legitimately so he’s entertaining the next best option: Ripping the country asunder. If that’s true he’s a worse scumbag than Cretin or Taliban Jack, and I didn’t think that was possible.

  20. I’m just trying to imagine what would happen to our economy with the NDP’s hand on the tiller.
And the Bloc would only care about Quebec. What a mess a coalition would be!

  21. The Liberals are in a lot of trouble and I think Stephan Dion is just trying to act tough …
The Liberal leadership race has a limit of $1.8 Million in order to prevent leadership rivals from taking (potential) donations away from the party. There are a couple of reasons why this won’t help …
    1) The combination of a 2 year long American election and a recent Canadian election has burnt out most people, and there is very little interest in politics at the moment.
    2) By preventing (potential) leaders from running with debts many potential candidates will still steal these donations to pay for their previous campaigns.
    3) By limiting candidate debt to 15% of their total campaign budget more candidates will be campaiging more agressively to get donations.
The Liberals are bankrupt and they have (almost) no ability to raise money or to take on further debt, which means they really can’t afford another election. On top of this, the loss of George W. Bush in the Whitehouse and Barack Obama’s support for Afganistan (and probably a more moderate stance on Global Warming) really limits the Liberal’s ability to tie Harper to Bush as a scare tactic to gain support from their base; in fact, I suspect that anit-American sentiment will go down 95% which will (probably) benefit Harper more than anyone else.

  22. Why are Dion and the Liberal Party making all this fuss? It’s soliciting that’s the problem. Prostitution itself remains perfectly legal.

  23. Hey do like me. Sigh the petition to keep him.(O:} Have to give Rick Mercer his due. He can at least laugh at himself & his chosen party.
Most of the left, are like forlorn extras who where to dour to act in the movie Dr. Doctor Zhivago.
Forever bitter. I just bet the Canadian left is in tears today because they can’t run down America anymore. They missed being part of the Obama History. Must eat em up inside.

  24. Dion pulled a ploy out of Chretian’s bag of tricks by quitting…later. He never did accept defeat on the last election and thought it an abberation. As leader of the opposition if the Government is defeated in a confidence vote, he could approach the GG. to form a coalition and name himself Prime Minister. He is that deluded.

  25. QUICK!!!!!!!
does anyone have a set of testies from a freshly gelded horse, di-onky could use them to prove he’s a man:-)))

  26. As I believe I posted somewhere on this site a while ago, I do not count dion out yet.
Keep in mind that his idol is PET and that PET’s phoenix-rise from the ashes happened after he had resigned and he took advantage of the PCP’s naivete and assumption that they could get away with anything in the interlude between PET resigning and the selection of a new liberal leader.
Nothing in the annals of LP history compares with the ’80 election of the uber idol PET to another majority (even though it begat 8 years of huge majorities for the PCP in its aftermath) – it is seen by those in the fold as one of the great moments in LP history.
And Dion would like nothing better than to repeat it. And so would a lot of LP supporters (Warren Kinsella?).
So, do not off-handedly disregard the possibility of another general election within 6 months. And in the deteriorating economic conditions we will likely see in the interim – particularly in Ontario and Quebec – I do not like the CPC’s chances of doing better than they did a month ago.
Tsking the electorate for granted is never a good idea.

  27. Stay-fan isn’t going to stay. The best hope for Canada now is for Bob Rae to become Liberal leader. His currency in Ontario is about at par with Rwanda’s.

The difference is PET HAD been Prime Minister before then, and rightly or wrongly a popular one. Plus his opponent was a ineffectual red tory. An important distinction that appears to have been forgotten, especially by Fifi.

  30. ed ward:
Agreed on both of your points. However that does not stop SD from dreaming he is the second coming of the socialist PET.

  31. PET won an election, thats fair. Dion could not win an election, the Liberal party couldnt fight an election….no the gambit would be for an early government fall, possibly coinciding with some drop in government polling….mix in a simple promise by the opposition to work on an agreement and voila, Harper is Leader of the Opposition.
Remeber in Ontario the LG gave the opposition 2 weeks to hammer out an agreement. The same would apply, lets the GG off the hook. She simply says work out an agreement and the keys are yours. Trust me, they’ll come to an agreement.
The only block to that is defections of Blue Liberals and some less than ardent Blocheads (always dangerous)…You can count on Arthur and you can count on Casey (in this situation only). So you need 10 defections, 9 if you assume an opposition speaker. So are there at least 9 Blue Liberals…..
The danger time is before the Liberal convention, after that I am sure Parliament will be porogued and then the GG would have a harder time not aceeding to another election, it will have been a year and there will be a new leader in place.
Cons dont have a majority, so they have to be careful what they put forward, but the GG still has to respect the fact her government has a right to reasonable advance its aganeda, especially those elements the governing party ran on in the election.
We shall know soon enough, if the Libs dont defeat them them by March then it wont happen.

  32. Dear Steffi,
Please call another election. Please! I had SO much fun watching Harper kick sand in your face, I can hardly wait to see him do it again.
    Thanks!

  33. i think stephen harper is no joke clark disater will be averted (effortlessly) – dion will be replaced and left to spend the rest of his days an embittered former politician – it was always someone else’s fault – haunting some franco-university.

  34. Once again with talk of a coalition government we see that the LPC thinks only of what is good for the LPC.

  35. Like you Phantom, I’ve enjoyed PMSH trashing DiYawn and would love to see it again. My guess is that rather than force another election with a bankrupt Lieberal party lots of Lieberals will be stricken by mysterious illnesses that prevent them from making crucial votes of confidence. What I really want to see PMSH do is to get rid of the firearms registry and the sooner the better.
On 14/10/2008 was the first time in my life that anyone I’ve voted for in a federal election has won. I’d like to repeat the experience again and, not living in Vancouver anymore, I’ll probably get the same satisfaction in the next election.

  36. Lets step back and look at this looney tune BS from Dion. Last time the Bloc and the NDP came out first and said the same BS as Dion is saying and backed the Liberals into a corner. Now Dion is BS’ing the same thing knowing that the separatist in Quebec are in a election provincially and they cannot afford to run a federal and provincial election at the same time back to back, even back to back to back. He knows full well that the Bloc cannot afford to run a provincial election and federal election at the same time. The Bloc knows this and you will see them supporting the CPC until after the Quebec provincial election and maybe longer to see how they do provincially. The funny thing is that the Bloc will be screwed if they support the CPC or not. Just as the Liberals were before the election. Also this could be a desperate strive by the witless wonder Dion to become PM before the Looney Tune leadership race by the Librano’s

  37. Any chance PMSH could skid the GG before her term was up?……
Also, the Canadian public would scream bloody murder if the LPC tried such a coup. It’s not like the Tories had a smaller minority, they got much bigger one. So I think they need to accept the will of the people…. not just listening to the Toronto mob.
    This whole scheme is sickening.
I think Harper will call their bluff.

  38. Justthinkin: “Notice that most..OK…98% of the ones slagging PMSH and cheering Steffi on the Criminal Reforms are from Troana??? Guess they like their crime ridden status. HEY. They can brag that they have taken over NYC for murders and violent crimes and really become the centre of the universe!”
Oh, please. Brooklyn, one of NYC’s five boroughs, clocked in with over 200 murders every year from 2003-2005 (couldn’t find more recent figures). Toronto never had more than 80 murders in any of those years. Manhattan alone had more than 90 murders a year, again eclipsing Toronto. NYC’s total is about 600 murders, and I hope no one seriously suggests that NYC has 600/80 = 7.5 times Toronto’s population.
Lord knows I have my issues with Toronto, but let’s try to make the criticisms reality-based, shall we?
