    1. I am impressed with how calm and rational that lady remains throughout. Not that it did much good. Now she’s probably on the police’s radar.

“Investment leaving Canada in ‘real time’: RBC head

The head of one of Canada’s largest banks is urging the federal government to stem the flow of investment capital from this country to the United States — because, he warns, it’s already leaving in “real time.”

RBC president and CEO Dave McKay discussed some of his biggest concerns about Canadian competitiveness, particularly those related to recent U.S. tax reforms, during a recent interview.

Ottawa has come under pressure from corporate Canada to respond to a U.S. tax overhaul that’s expected to lure business investments south of the border.”

“Lack of Canadian tax competitiveness discourages even renewable energy

The NextEra sale is seen in the energy sector as being specifically related to taxation. It’s likely the first of many such deals”

“You know Canadian competitiveness is in big trouble when even investors in renewable energy – favoured by Canadian governments through subsidies, plus carbon taxes and regulatory overload on competing fossil-fuel energy — are leaving because they like lower U.S. taxes even more.

Juno Beach, Fla.-based NextEra Energy Partners LP said Monday the sale of its wind and solar generation assets in Ontario to the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board for US$582.3 million was specifically motivated by U.S. tax reform.”

    1. Sold all my Canadian oil assets and either bought in the USA or international. IMHO Canada is not a real country.

  2. The painting horse.
Remember that old criticism about modern art and how any horses ass could have done it?

  3. Calgary city council has been painted into a corner over the 2024 Olympic bid. The council was hoping to make a decision without public input. They want the games but have to get the people of AB/Canada to pay for them.
The Province has said it will kick in some money for the ‘bid’ – which is $30 M.
Problem is the province said there must be a referendum.
The cost of the games will be in the billions. Calgary has a 25% downtown vacancy rate – taxpayers are increasingly asked to pony up. The city has real debt.
Who knows what the security costs might be? No problem – the mayor wants it as do most of city council. None of them will be around when the bills come in.

    1. Who knows what the security costs might be?

Huge is the answer. Unless your cordon off all access from the NE, something will go down.

      1. Am not in favour of Calgary hosting another Olympics; remember 1988 too well. The Olympic Village was at U of C – classes cancelled for a couple of weeks and students in residence sent home – but the result was some competitors could, and did, ride the C-Train to the arena. It was all very open and relaxed; took the kids down to Olympic Plaza to watch the awards ceremony one evening and was great.

Sadly, it will never be the same. The opening and closing ceremonies can’t be held in McMahon Stadium as have to be seriously high tech and glitzy. Security is going to be a killer. Insofar as I can see, it’s being pushed by our Mayor for his own personal agrandissement; perhaps encouraged by those few Calgarians who can also see their own personal fortunes enlarged by such an event.

  4. Remember, illegal immigrants aren’t criminals, just because they break the law. Of course it’s racist to assume otherwise.

And it’s an attack on law abiding legal immigrants, just like going after law abiding gun owners … no wait … the rule of law is racist.

“What Is the Caravan of Immigrants Heading to the U.S.-Mexico Border and Why Is Trump So Angry About It?”

The president was referring to a group of nearly 1,200 Central American migrants currently marching through Mexico toward the southern border of the United States as part of an annual Holy Week event. The caravan is part humanitarian effort, part publicity stunt, and is led by an organization called Pueblo Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders. The collective provides physical and monetary assistance to migrants and refugees seeking asylum.”

A great percentage of the caravan is made of Hondurans seeking to escape systemic poverty and political unrest. Honduras has one of the world’s highest murder rates and has experienced months of protests and violence since the December election of President Orlando Hernández.”

But, they are coming in from Mexico so that is their “sanctuary state.” I know, racist.

“Irineo Mujica, director of Pueblos Sin Fronteras, told Buzzfeed that President Trump was partially responsible for the caravan because of his support for Hernández. “If this caravan bothers him, then it also bothers me that he supported people like Juan Orlando [Hernández] who oppresses the people, destroys the economy of the country, and creates a humanitarian crisis,” he said. President Barack Obama also backed Hernández.”

I know rooting out corruption is so yesterday in neo SJW world. So, when can we expect a caravan of Russian asylum seekers?

    “Snowiest Easter in Indiana history”

““The April 1 snowfall was record-breaking!” says cbs4indy.com.

“It broke the April 1 record of 2″, which was set in 1924. It was also the snowiest Easter in recorded Indiana history. The previous record for the holiday was 0.3″ set in both 1972 and 1964.””

“Ontario fights Buy American rules. Meanwhile…

Ontario’s premier fights New York’s “Buy American Act” while selling them subsidized electricity, costing the province’s citizens millions”

“On June 21, 2017 the New York State Senate passed the “Buy American Act” which restricts the use for all road and bridge capital projects of using imported iron and steel and requires New York government agencies to use only American-produced products.

Ontario’s Premier responded April 2, 2018 announcing Ontario is “restricting its government entities from entering into certain procurement contracts with suppliers from New York State, including provisions that restrict suppliers use of structural iron* from New York State.””
