It is much easier intellectually to use intuition to make decisions(this makes me feel good/ this makes me feel bad), than to research and make tough decisions based on facts. This has been mentioned WRT atomic bombs dropped in WW2. Your gut may tell you that dropping a bomb is a bad thing, no sh*t. That is why we are humans and we can make logical rational decisions like net gain vs.. net loss. The correct decision is often not the same as what your gut tells you, and is usually much more difficult. Another good example may be forgiveness vs.. punishment for you child.
