Religious groups have demanded the resignation of the Bishop of Rochester after he claimed that Islamic radicals had turned parts of Britain into “no-go” areas for non-Muslims.

Like the comments at the CBC “The National” web site, re Rex Murphy’s utter disdain for the Human Rights (sic) Commissions in Canada–which have accepted a Muslim complaint to stifle free expression–the comments at The Telegraph OVERWHELMINGLY support the right of the Bishop of Rochester (in England) to criticize Muslims.
It seems that the trickle of opinion that doesn’t toe the politically correct party line–held by too many political hacks/cowards–is fast becoming a torrent.

I know for a fact that there are no-go zones in Paris, as my daughter was briefed as to what parts of the city were unsafe for non-Muslims.

Interesting critique but focused at the wrong entity. It is pointless asking a predator to stop acting like a predator and behave like a chicken. More to the point is; who allowed the predator into the chicken house and why?

I lived in London for several years recently and it’s a fact that there are no-go areas. We lived next to the large Bangladeshi community in Tower Hamlets and only a fool would walk through some of those council estates. The violent crime was ridiculously high. People were even killed on the trains that went through the area. I remember one poor student from Portugal. They threw him under the train. The reason? There usually isn’t one. It’s just mindless violence. They even through rocks at runners in the London Marathon passing through the area.
Crazy, crazy place.

Just quietly remove laws banning guns, the carrying of guns and the use of guns in self defense.

It’s heartening to read the comments. Even a year ago, there wouldn’t be as many. However, it may be too late to prevent a bloody end.

A VOW has been made today to make it more difficult for motorists to drive illegally in the city’s pedestrian zones following a horrific incident on Saturday.
A man has appeared in court in connection with an incident in Peterborough city centre.
Mohammed Redha Zouaoui (34), of Cromwell Road, Millfield, appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday, charged with three counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one charge of dangerous driving.
The Algerian national, who spoke only to confirm his name and address, is accused of driving through a barrier on Saturday afternoon and crashing into a crowd of people in Long Causeway.
Two people were injured in the collision, while a third was allegedly stabbed by the driver of the car who got out to confront the crowd of shoppers.
I think the Brits are getting sick of the crap. No-go areas? Wow! Gee, there was a time, not too long ago, when Britain never even had a murder – Bobbies(sp) didn’t even carry a gun. Makes you realize multiculturism isn’t all it’s banged up to be.

I agree with you. I’ve actually read somewhere (can’t remember where) recently where Britain, France, and Denmark are (or have) dramatically changed their immigration laws. So it looks like the Brits are waking up and limiting Immigration.
It’s interesting to note that according to the CIA World Fact Book, and the 2001 British Census (and my own extrapolation to 2007), there are now about 1.8 Million Muslims in Britain, out of a population of ~60 Million. However, the biggest demographic change in Britain right now is not Muslim, it is actually Polish Catholics. There are over 1M Poles in Britain now. (I actually have cousins who work in London and Dublin in construction, and apparently Polish guys want to work and they want to integrate – which is the exact opposite of many Muslims.)
After thousands of years of beating back invaders, to be killed by their own political system. Sad.
In Kanata, just a few miles or so as the crow flies, from the Scotiabank Place (Home of the Ottawa Senators) is a plan to establish a “Just for Muslims Community” – i.e. other religions are not welcomed here. We used to call that discrimination based on religion and was (and still is) against the law. However, Muslims do not see it that way. To them it is a way of ensuring that their values are reflected and promoted in the community.
Based on this logic one could conclude that Sharia law would prevail, thus overriding the law of the land. I also predict that if this is given the go-ahead by city hall then “progressives” would see this as a fine example of multiculturalism at work. Sane people would see this as the further ghettoising of this country.
This proposal proves the Bishop of Rochester assertion that there are places where non-Muslims are not welcomed – and it’s right in our back yards.

I am forever amazed at how often differing religions actually work to seperate and divide people as opposed to bringing them together and welcoming each other with love and understanding, blah,blah,blah as their followers claim.

The no-go areas are political facts on the ground. Recall Jack Straw was to meet a “muslim representative” and was told to meet in a “neutral” area — that he was not welcome on Muslim lands.
Few people understand (study the Muslim Brotherhood’s The Project) the process of “settlement” of Islam is done exactly this way. The creation of mini-states within.
Some people argue that we need to be very worried about an independent Kosovo for this very reason: the precendent for the formation of islamic mini-states within western states. Then of course the demography will finish the process.
And soon the very heart of Israel – Judea — will be a no-go judenrein area.
As I understand it, France has clear no-go areas.
Sweden’s Malmo is practically a no-go city!
While the UK has only 3% Muzzie pop. the concentrations in the north are the early stages for islamic mini-states.

You are exactly right. You can consider all the rhetoric, hand-wringing and negotiations you want but NOTHING changes the dynamics of a confrontation as much as the victim fighting back.
The potential victim reacting with a measured, but potentially deadly, force is usually not in the perpetrators initial equation.
It’s only a matter of time before these no-go zones are tested in earnest.
“No-go areas” aren’t new. The U.S. used to have them in every big city. These occurred because crime wasn’t taken seriously. Vandalism, rape, muggings, breaking-and-entering, even small things like jumping turnstiles.
Most probably know about Guilliani’s transformation of New York (the ‘broken window’ theory of crime), and it needs to be repeated in London, Paris, etc. When someone breaks the law, prosecute them. Treat crime seriously. Don’t allow for “no-go” areas. Break up rioters, and don’t ever give in to their demands.
Right now, I’m hoping this isn’t a muslim problem. The U.S. had this problem with blacks, and by treating black crime seriously (and more often than not, the victims of black criminals are blacks), it has improved the life of many black people. We may think that these no-go areas are awful for non-muslims, but I’m willing to bet that they are HELL for many of the muslims who actually live there.
It’s not about Muslim Crime. It’s about Muslim separatism. Totally different issue. Sharia law being applied incrementally. Infidels can now be arrested for “insulting Islam”. I know it has been commented on before at SDA but here is another example of Canadian socialists aligning themselves with their muslim brethren. Mark Steyn has noted in a posting about his HRC action for his Macleans column the Ontario Federation of Labour is supporting the Canadian Islamic Congress’s case.
As Steyn has stated many times the muslims don’t dispute what he has written, they are just offended by it.

Face facts, Muslims do segregate, it’s a gradual creep in all cities where they are. Their neighborhoods evolve ,they build their Mosques and their schools within them.
Who else would wish to live in an enclave of people who’s religion is all-encompassing, whose women dress to shun “outsiders”? It wouldn’t be exactly a comfort zone.
It’s becoming a world wide happening, fight it by disallowing ghettos or get use to it, float along and be swallowed. There are still choices, common sense ones at that.

Half Canadian – inner city ghettos were and are basically a public housing/crime/economic underclass problem. Bad public policy concentrated poor blacks in defined urban areas in public housing. It wasn’t self-selective. The poor that could got out.
I think the no go ghettos in Europe are different in tone. They are much more the problem inherent to Islam everywhere in the world where it butts up against non-Muslims. Darfur could be described as the ultimate no go zone, replicate that in Indonesia, Nigeria, evrywhere that Islam is morphing. Heck, Saudi Arabia is a “no go zone” as an infidel unless you are willing to live in a defined isolated compound. Muslims have exclusionary motives in drawing lines.

While economics may be related to the racial ghettos, there wasn’t the crime problem during the Jim Crow years. The Jim Crow years DID induce the white guilt which lead to the idea of overlooking black crime (note, I condemn Jim Crow, and think that blacks would have a stronger case for suing for reparations for it than for slavery).
I’ve heard claims that segregation (by choice, not forced) increased during the 80’s and 90’s, but this may be crap. There was an exodus of black professionals as red lining crumbled, and this plays into the economics argument (as well as the positive role-model argument). Other problems are the horrific illegitimacy rates, drop-out rates, etc. But these were still a problem when crime started dropping in New York. The difference is that they started arresting people for vandalism, jumping turnstiles, etc.
As I said, I hope that muslims are the same, but I can understand arguments that claim otherwise. But following the status quo leads to more “no-go” areas. These areas aren’t happy communes of outsiders besieged by infidels, but rather fiefdoms for a few criminal leaders, and the government should not abandon these unfortunate souls to their whims.
