Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Yeah and its happenin’ here too. Us god fearing white folk need to do something about these ungodly impostors. They keep comin’ in with all this money, bringin’ their types of jobs and economic opportunities with em. It’s time to build us a wall.
Can we stop calling them minorities now?
Just wondering, if the male/female population ratio is 49/51, does that mean I’m a minority?
Dave just made an unprovoked and unwarranted attack on religious conservatives and white persons. I think he was trying to be clever, but it came across as bigoted.
Two minority groups were mentioned in the Times article, blacks and hispanics. The original blacks arrived as slaves; I’m not sure what Dave means by all their money jobs and economic opportunities they brought with them — the comment is assinine. The other group are hispanics, and I’m willing to bet that they send more money home than they brought in with them.
But, maybe Dave wasn’t aiming at thoughtful commentary.
Richard,
Some people like Dave need to aim low so that they can achieve their targets. Let’s just ignore him.
Duh? So, the visible minorities are now the majority making the majority now the visible minorities. Great. I’ll now be able to get a government job because – once being a part of that unilingual, anglo saxon majority – I am now a visible minority therefore the government can no longer discriminate against me and must give me preference in their hiring practices for those plum government jobs. Whew! But then again, in the Canadian government’s bureaucratic skewered view of the world and in classic Canadian government logic-speak, not being of a primary colour I will probably be labelled, “an invisible minority” which means no one can see me and if no one can see me then I don’t really exist. Furthermore, given that the invisible minority doesn’t really exist there will no longer be such a thing as a visible minority that is now the majority or a visible majority that is now the invisible minority and we will no longer have to put up with this stupidity.

Re: the premiers conferance.
the premiers agree to dis-agree,
finding out that Alberta is the only place where jobs are being created , the rest of the premiers decide early to not only kill the goose that layed the golden egg but to tax it first, until its dead.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/interactives/map-canada-jobs/
no one can stand to have jobs happen on the wrong side of the line.(the line being their own provincial border)
Alberta with larger reserves than Texas, the same area and a smaller population still has a less GDP than its drawling counterpart. proof positive that robbery from the federal government has reduced the total substantially. proof you say?, well lets say that the GDP of Texas is more than the ROC (rest of Canada including Quebec)

Sure is gonna be a fun next 30 years , when ‘whitey’ gets payed back for his generosity.
I can guarantee you that when the ‘minorities rule the roost, they will not be so altruistic as we have been to them..
I have no problem with a moratorium on third world immigration..
If you think that’s harsh, look me up under a ballistic shield when our first race riots happen in our big cities..perhaps we can have a chat..
It’s interesting how minorities are lumped together, as if they form some kind of conspiring and cohesive group of opposition to the dominant ethnicity within Canadian society.
In any regard, complaining about immigrants or minority equity programs will be a moot point, if it isn’t already. The impending labour shortage that is already underway due to baby boomer retirement will ensure that jobs are more than plentiful in most sectors quite soon. It’s already being seen in a lot of areas. Even undergrads with BA degrees will once again be able to find well paying jobs so I’m not really worried. As far as I’m concerned everyone’s going to have more opportunity than they have for a long time so it matters not.
Reproduction rates in Canada aren’t enough to keep up, so immigration is necessary to sustain the workforce. Its just a simple fact of life that everyone here should get used to. I for one am content with living my life with 1.8 kids and don’t plan on having anymore.
Societies are anything but static.

Speaking of our rapidly evolving demographic…
Police still refusing to release any details on Vancouver massacre…
but the word on the street says this is inter-racial gang
warfare.
“Witnesses say there was an earlier fight at the same restaurant
between a group of Asians and a gang of Indo-Canadians
calling themselves the Independent Soldiers.”
Shsssh… we’re not supposed to talk about it

I don’t see what the problem is. Once an immigrant takes the citizenship oath, an immigrant becomes a Canadian, regardless of their skin colour or the culture they come from. We need more diversity in Canada; it is a source of innovation. Just among Kate’s readership alone, there must be a diversity of people from coast to coast and beyond.
No problem at all. As long as that individual is not bowing to some islamowhackjob located somewhere in the ME. Or bowing to some Tamil idiot. Or bowing to some Sikh madman. Or bowing to the IRA(mandatory slam on some white folk). No problem at all, as long as they leave their crap in the country they came from.
John Murney, there are 53 muslim countries, give me examples of the innovation they have done in science, medicine, inventions etc. Why would you expect when ever-increasing numbers move to Canada they will be any different here? Mexico is dumping millions of its underclass into the US overwhelming its social structures. Many studies have shown recent immigrants to Canada primarily through family reunification are doing far worse than their initial points-required predecessors. The black community requires exponential amounts of social spending in policing, welfare, subsidized housing, schools etc.that far exceeds any other immigrant group. If this seems racist drop into any court or social service office in Toronto or any other southern Ontario city.
There are immigrants and there are immigrants. It is not what colour they are, it should be will they be an asset to our society now and in the future. Shear numbers to meet a quota like we do now is not a great way to ensure our long term future.
Diversity is not a strength, it has led to the multicultural hotel we have now where people from Lebanon or Hong Kong can book a room when things get chancy in their real home. It seems every Canadian now comes with a hyphen!
Richard Ball and Jon:
Dave’s comment was, to anyone who can read beyond a Grade 5 level, obviously sarcasm. Your two comments have proved once again that you clowns are incapable of humour, and that you will consistently mis-read and mis-represent what others have posted to further your “holier than thou” personas. Twits.
What a marvellous headline. Vitruvius – where are you? Take it apart for us.
How can a minority be a majority? Or is it that the term ‘minority’ no longer has a statistical value but is a definition of a ‘type’?
And this evaluation was carried out in the ‘most populous countries’? Does that mean China? India? Does that mean that white people are, as typological minorities in India and China, now the majority? Or are they in the two-thirds of the ‘most populous countries’ where this claim isn’t valid?
Help.
Well, well… minority majorities eh? 😀
See what affirmative action can do
We need more diversity in Canada; it is a source of innovation.
Sure, John, at ethnic food fairs, but, you need to break down the contributions in science, business, civil society, and the arts that each group is making?
That’s a cheap and easy statement unless you can demonstrate by the numbers just exactly who is contributing what to society at large. Got any numbers on who has the highest crime rates and who doesn’t? Any numbers on who values education and who fails to finish high school most often as a group? Who repeatedly needs public assistance because their births are largely out of wedlock? Who rebuffs because of culture/religion the basic foundations of a secular society? Who uses up more resources than they give back?
Sorry, I think the “innovation” mantra regarding mass immigration of the unskilled isn’t applicable anymore and needs to be put to rest. The frontier is long over.
Joh Murney: your Trudeaupian drivel contradicts the best available science. What do you have against science?

The downside of diversity
A Harvard political scientist finds that diversity hurts civic life. What happens when a liberal scholar unearths an inconvenient truth?
IT HAS BECOME increasingly popular to speak of racial and ethnic diversity as a civic strength. From multicultural festivals to pronouncements from political leaders, the message is the same: our differences make us stronger.
But a massive new study, based on detailed interviews of nearly 30,000 people across America, has concluded just the opposite. Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam — famous for “Bowling Alone,” his 2000 book on declining civic engagement — has found that the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people vote and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as they do in the most homogenous settings. The study, the largest ever on civic engagement in America, found that virtually all measures of civic health are lower in more diverse settings.
“The extent of the effect is shocking,” says Scott Page, a University of Michigan political scientist.

john – your statement is ‘brainwashed drivel’, ie, vapid nothing.
It is definitely untrue that once someone takes citizenship then they ‘become a Canadian’. Instead, since our society promotes multiculturalism instead of ‘Canadian-ness’, they simply become able to vote. Period.
And the political parties focus on them, not as Canadians, but as members of closed ethnic groups – groups defined as such by virtue of their hereditary origin: ethnicity, religion, language.
The political parties – particularly the Liberals and NDP pay a great deal of attention to maintaining these people WITHIN these closed groups – and funding the group – with the agenda of receiving full blocks of votes from these groups.
As for being the source of ‘innovation’ – that’s equal rubbish. You’ve been brainwashed by the Trudeaupian screed. Innovation is not grounded in groups, but in individuals. Indeed, many of the ethnic, religious, linguistic groups in Canada are a deficit to Canada, in that they require more in welfare, medical and social services than non-group members.
Andrew – I think that’s a good study, but, the fact is, that countries built on immigration, such as the US, Canada, Australia, etc, have the duty to assimilate those immigrants, reject group ghettoes, reject multiculturalism and insist that all immigrants become ‘nationalized’.
The US and Australia do this; Canada, unfortunately, has rejected nationhood, and instead set itself up as a hotel, where people can have dual citizenship for convenience (Lebanon), can remain essentially committed to their country of origin and unwilling to assimilate and develop a Canadian identity; can reject Canadian laws, can insist on gov’t funding to maintain their ‘old ways’..and so on.
It is only with Harper, that we are getting a voice that the first focus is on ‘Canadianness’, rather than the ‘old country’. But multiculturalism is in our Evil Charter and is th pet of the Liberals – who use it cynically, for votes.
ET – the headline says “counties”, not “countries”.
In other news, “US majorities still the majority in a majority of US counties.”
Mid-August is kind of a slow time for newsworthy stories. But you can’t find fault with the NY Times for their dedication to ‘truthiness’.
Yeeks – counties, not countries. For want of an ‘r’ the meaning was lost.
So if toronto has higher unemployment than the rest of canada one wonders if the counties they are bragging about suffer thusly too.
