  1. Manitoba elections are underway and local media polls are pretty scary!
FreePress and Sun questions show unbelievable support/gullibility on the lefty side of things.
Don’t these people ever pay attention to what’s going on?
77% of respondents claim to believe that the conservatives will Sell Manitoba Hydro! Why? Because Garry Doer says so? Stupid!
65% of respondents think Doer Is most impressive in campaign! Who are these people?
Doer’s government has been responsible for gross mismanagement of every initiative they’ve undertaken…yet claim to be successful!
The issue is the record of the Doer government.
    Good God!

  2. MayDion and his toothless cur, May, er, Kyoto. MayDion; Bammed by Kyoto. Is MayDion a stb?

Save the Planet – Topple this Government
A quick scan of the Liberal blogs offers a fascinating reaction to Minister Baird’s climate change action plan: silence followed by a few, barely audible gulps.
Only two months ago, the three opposition parties banded together and voted for a motion calling on the government to meet our Kyoto obligations.
Now that a plan is delivered that will not meet our Kyoto commitments, let me echo Chantal Hebert: bad boys, bad boys, watchya gonna do?
That question is such cruel torture; I expect a Liberal will accuse me of war crimes and send me to The Hague. Of course, none of them will do anything. As we have discussed so many times on this blog, if Stephane Dion believed anything he said, he would launch a non-confidence vote in the government on this very issue. If his separatist buddies or his NDP nemeses felt as passionately about the Kyoto protocol as they claimed, they would vote down the government and we would be in a spring election. That, my friends, is the inconvenient consequence of hysteria-mongering. …-

  3. Glenn Beck has the anti-Kyoto stuff msm doesn’t want you to see..on May 2.
Just a thot, could the Lib.’outrage’ over Afghan. be a payback to Hillier over the ‘decade of darkness’ comment?

  4. “77% of respondents claim to believe that the conservatives will Sell Manitoba Hydro! Why? Because Garry Doer says so? Stupid!”
Conservatives in Canada and all over the world have privatized public utilites; this is entirely consistent with conservative ideology. So it is hardly stupid for Manitobans to believe that Manitoba conservatives would likewise act consistently with their ideology and sell Manitoba Hydro.

  5. If they chop off your right hand for minor theft in Saudi-Arabia, I wouldn’t want to be one of the 172 terrorists arrested for plotting to blow up oil facilities and storm prisons to release their buddies.(National Newswatch)
I wonder if Dion and Layton are going to lobby the Saudis for fair treatment of the terrorists.

  7. Kate, I thought you might have something to say about the dog attack in Vanscoy.

  8. Spinks:
The way the youth got involved in the Vimy memorial rededication gives me hope. I don’t think this clown represents the majority of Canadian school kids, thankfully.
And, while I don’t condone it, the fact that this kid got ruffed up by his classmates after shows that most of them are proud to be Canadian!

  9. “Kate, I thought you might have something to say about the dog attack in Vanscoy.”
About the only thing I can say is that it’s dismaying that people who stopped were afraid of the dogs and didn’t do more help her. I met the RCMP car on the way to the scene that day – I had passed by the site, but didn’t see anything, unfortunately. I had a metal grooming arm in the van that would have come in damned handy.

  10. “Jean LaFleur pleads guilty to twenty-eight fraud charges.”
Well, there are still a number of other former Liberal government miscreants and their friends who were involved in adscam still on the loose and who also should be in prison for defrauding Canadians of their tax money.

  13. Yeah that’s hopeful isn’t it Reid, but the fact that a student can get their teacher suspended for calling the student on poor behaviour is troubling. Only in Canada.

  14. Newman and others were going after layton and may to force an election if they are so sure cdns believe in Kyoto. Should have heard all the backtracking from both of them. Basically, the question was, can you afford to go to the voters and campaign on the higher costs and economic shut down to meet Kyoto. I don’t believe 80% of cdns support it. At least those that know what it is. Could it be possible the msm is baiting the opposition.

  16. Soooo- how is the rest of the world doing with their Kyoto targets (and were their targets pulled out of thin air and written on an airplane napkin like Chretien did for ours?)
Canada, Japan, Europe failing on Kyoto greenhouse gas targets – UN
    11.18.2005, 07:48 AM
PARIS (AFX) – Canada, Japan and the old 15-member European Union are falling short on their commitments to cut greenhouse gases under the Kyoto Protocol, according to a new UN report on global warming.
Canada is among those countries most likely to run into difficulty implementing its commitments, as in 2003 the country had increased its emissions by 24.2 pct from the base 1990 level, far from its 2012 target of a 6 pct reduction.
Japan, meanwhile, recorded a 12.8 pct increase over the 13 years to 2003 and is headed for an increase of 12 pct by 2010 instead of the intended 6 pct reduction.
And although the 15-member European Union, which ratified the treaty en bloc in 1997, achieved a reduction of 1.4 pct in emissions from 1990 to 2003 — it is still a long way from the 8 pct target in 2012 — most of the 15 countries have seen emissions increasing.
Eleven have reported increases since 1990, with huge rises seen in Spain (41.7 pct), Portugal (36.7 pct), Greece (25.8 pct), Ireland (25.6 pct), Finland (21.5 pct) and Austria (16.5 pct).
Of the industrialised nations, only Britain seems to be having little trouble meeting its commitments, having even surpassed its target of 12.5 pct by cutting emmissions 13 pct.
Germany also reduced its emissions impressively, by 18.2 pct, but was short of its target of 21 pct, while France (1.9 pct), Luxembourg (16 pct) and Sweden (2.3 pct) also cut emissions.
The report was published ahead of a UN conference, from Nov 28 to December 9 in Montreal, which is expected to draw more than 10,000 delegates to improve global efforts to control greenhouse gas emissions and fight global warming.
The United States and Australia, neither of whom have ratified the agreement, have recorded significant increases in emissions.
The US estimated a 32 pct increase by 2010 when it rejected the agreement in 2001, while under Kyoto it would have been committed to a reduction of 7 pct over the same period. In 2003, it had already registered a rise of 13.3 pct and now accounts for 40 pct of all emissions from industrialised nations.
Australia, meanwhile, had increased emissions by 23.3 pct in 2003, well on its way to meeting its own estimate of a 29.3 pct increase in 2010, compared to a Kyoto allowance of increasing emissions by 8 pct between 2008 and 2012.

  17. Communist Goals, Circa 1963 Vs. Current Reality
    http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2007/04/communist-goals-circa-1963-vs-current.html
Read the list of communist goals, as identified by American intelligence and entered into the Congressional Record in 1963 and you’ll recognize today’s world in the goals.
    Examples:
    11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces….
    13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.
    15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
    16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
    17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
    20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.
    21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.
    26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”
    28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”
    The list goes on…
    And then you’ll realize that:
Liberals = Communist pawns & useful idiots, helping our enemies deconstruct and degrade our societies, with an obvious view to eventual takeover by communism.

  18. OOPS. Did you Ontario Canadians KNOW that YOU have to reach Kyoto targets by 2012? Is THAT why McGuinty’s MP brother is hysterical over wanting international carbon trading? So Ontario businesses can just PAY TO POLLUTE without reducing GHG’s a bit. And the Carbon Market is now sooooo cheap – in Europe today it has dropped to $2 Tonne. Why close a coal fired plant or retrofit.
Just pay a few bucks overseas to ease your concience.
Dishonest??? Yup? But your Premier McGuinty is relying on his borther MP McGuinty to get that huge dishonest loophole into the Fed’s plan.
    Are you buying this?
HAMPTON TO McGUINTY: WHEN WILL KYOTO TARGETS BE THE LAW?
    location: Queen’s Park
    date: April 12, 2007 – 8:00am
    body:
NDP Leader Howard Hampton is applauding the second-reading passing of a law committing Ontario to meet its Kyoto targets by 2012. Now, Hampton wants to know when Dalton McGuinty – who skipped the vote – will make meeting Kyoto targets the law in the province of Ontario.
“The Legislature has spoken. Ontario needs to meet its Kyoto targets by 2012. Now, Dalton McGuinty needs to tell working families when he’s going to make these targets the law once and for all,” Hampton said.
If passed, the NDP’s Ontario Climate Change Act would commit Ontario to meet its Kyoto targets by 2012. It would oblige the provincial government to come forward with a plan to meet that target. And it would make Ontario’s Environmental Commissioner a tough effective climate change watchdog who could hold accountable any government that fails to meet its Kyoto targets.
The bill is sponsored by Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson. Its original author is Toronto Danforth MPP Peter Tabuns, the NDP’s Environment Critic.
McGuinty Liberals have a bad habit of letting bills pass second reading, only to let them languish in committee because they don’t really want to pass them into law.
Hampton vowed he will do everything he can to make sure that doesn’t happen with the NDP’s climate change legislation.
“The NDP will work to ensure the Ontario Climate Change Act comes before the Legislature as quickly as possible so that it can be passed for a third and final reading and made the law here in the province of Ontario,” he said.

  23. It’s just been announced that on May 8, Bill Graham, latterly of the Librano Party, is being installed as the Chancellor of Trinity College at the University of Toronto. In the announcement by Trinity the fact that he is MARRIED is emphasized. (Mrs. Graham is a graduate of Trinity, as is Mr. Graham, and they were married in the college chapel.)

Vitamin D casts cancer prevention in new light
For decades, researchers have puzzled over why rich northern countries have cancer rates many times higher than those in developing countries — and many have laid the blame on dangerous pollutants spewed out by industry.
But research into vitamin D is suggesting both a plausible answer to this medical puzzle and a heretical notion: that cancers and other disorders in rich countries aren’t caused mainly by pollutants but by a vitamin deficiency known to be less acute or even non-existent in poor nations.
Those trying to brand contaminants as the key factor behind cancer in the West are “looking for a bogeyman that doesn’t exist,” argues Reinhold Vieth, professor at the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto and one of the world’s top vitamin D experts. Instead, he says, the critical factor “is more likely a lack of vitamin D.”
What’s more, researchers are linking low vitamin D status to a host of other serious ailments, including multiple sclerosis, juvenile diabetes, influenza, osteoporosis and bone fractures among the elderly. …-

Comments are open and “semi-moderated”: Example:
p m from vancouver, Canada writes: Only brief full-body exposures to bright summer sunshine — of 10 or 15 minutes a day — are needed to make high amounts of the vitamin. But most authorities, including Health Canada, have urged a total avoidance of strong sunlight or, alternatively, heavy use of sunscreen. Both recommendations will block almost all vitamin D synthesis.

Former U.S. vice-president blasts Conservative environmental platform as ‘complete and total fraud designed to mislead the Canadian public.’
    Canadian Press.
    [Kettle – Pot]
    April 28, 2007 at 12:25 PM EDT
TORONTO — The Conservatives’ new environmental platform is a “complete and total fraud” that is “designed to mislead the Canadian people,” former U.S. vice-president Al Gore said Saturday.
[Big Al, speaking of frauds, have ya ever heard of the UN/Mann Hockey Stick Graph ?? It is such a fraud the UN doen’t even use it any more. In the past it was the IPCC’s bible. Is it still yours ??]
The noted [noted, as in nut-case]environmentalist was presenting his documentary An Inconvenient Truth [lie] in Toronto at a consumer environmental show, with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and environmentalist David Suzuki in attendance.
Mr. Gore praised Mr. Suzuk [for being what ? a fanatic?] for confronting [making an ass of himself] Environment Minister John Baird on Friday, saying he saw the two exchange words on TV [complete with filtered commentary].
When Mr. Baird told Mr. Suzuki the Conservatives were going further than any other government in Canadian history, Mr. Suzuki said it wasn’t enough. [we all gotta get back in the caves, eh Davey ??]
Former U.S. vice-president and environmental crusader [preacher, kult leader] Al Gore acknowledges a standing ovation from the crowd as he takes the stage to speak to an audience at the Green Living Show in Toronto, April 28, 2007. (J.P. Moczulski/Reuters)
The Conservative government strategy focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality. But the plan failed to spell out precisely what many of its regulations will look like.
“In my opinion, it is a complete and total fraud,” Mr. Gore said. “It is designed to mislead the Canadian people.”[ who is the biggest misleader in history, Al ??]
Mr. Gore acknowledged he is not a Canadian citizen [thank gawd !!] and said he has “no right to interfere in your decisions.”[got that part right — bout all]
However, he said, the rest of the world looks to Canada for moral leadership, and that’s why this week’s announcement was so “shocking.”[was so refreshing too, after decades of Liberal frauds]
How cum nobody, nobody is directly defending the Kyoto Kultists anymore ?? Some just support the Gores/Suzukis/Dions by using words such as “leading environmentalists’ or “noted” or “icons” and other meaningless words.
They never EVER try and argue the scientific or economic points. Just platitudes.
