The City That Rhymes With Incompetence

What is the REAL District?

Located in the heart of Regina, Saskatchewan, the REAL District is Canada’s largest interconnected event complex and serves as the central hub for sport, business, and entertainment in the community. Spanning 100 acres, it is operated by the Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL), a not-for-profit organization.

The REAL District is the venue for most of Regina’s major events, including Canada’s Farm Show (CFS), Queen City Ex (QCX) & Canadian Western Agribition (CWA).

  1. AS I have noted previously, I have moved to “the belly of the beast (AKA Ottawa) to be closer to my family. I miss living in Regina, but I do not miss the incompetence of City Hall. Mind you, most cities have incompetent governments, so there is that!
I was immensely proud of this exhibition which was known throughout the world. I actually met a Turkish family in Nice, France in 2005 whose husband had been to Regina for the exhibition and knew all about it and its importance.

  2. Perhaps those in charge of Agribition will point in the direction of where the horse track used to be and say, “your idiocy started here but appears to have no boundaries nor limits”

The collection of buildings at REAL appear to be randomly placed, as though Regina’s City Hall had a role in their placement, like starting the streets north-south numbering system in Regina at “1800 block” and the avenues east-west numbering system at “2500 block”.

And then Agribition can relocate to a city with a horse track, and the “Queen City Ex” (was “Buffalo Days when I lived there) can move to an area outside of the city where the very real threat of being knifed from any time after 6PM is less prevalent.
Remember “The Royal Red” that’s in Brandon Manitoba now? I bet they like it.

    1. They did the same in Saskatoon. The board at the exhibition grounds announced the closure of Marquis Downs to bring in… drum roll…

      Professional soccer!

Which was an utter lie, and of course there is no professional soccer. Just demolition of the stands, barns and track, and with it a sporting facility that employed scores of FN people who actually wanted to work for a living.
