Same here. I admit being sucked into voting for his father over the FTA, which I supported, only to find it suddenly turned into NAFTA after the election, which I did *not* support. At least Jr. seems to be more of a conservative than Sr. ever was.
If you’re going to explicitly exclude white people then you’ll need a Race Classification Board to develop “tests” to weed out any whites who might be trying to game the system. Just like the old Apartheid regime in South Africa used to do. Funny how ideas that were once denounced as immoral keep popping up once the regime changes.

Very True. The third possibility is that they are moral cowards (as many Canadians are) and have been instructed by their Party Brain Trust (snicker) not to “makes waves” or risk “offending” anyone. As I remarked once before about the Conservatives, “You are way too deferential to established authority and opinion….you are also way too in the thrall of political consultants, ‘wise men’, pollsters, pundits, elder statesmen, party hacks, assorted mouth-breathers and other nervous-nellies peddling shopworn conventional wisdom. These people know virtually nothing.”

This will only gets worse. I hope people are preparing for plan B as Canada continues its descent into banana republic status. Most of our ancestors left the dysfunction in europe and the uk for a better life in north america. It appears it’s now time for their descendants to follow in their footsteps and leave Canada. We’ve narrowed our opinions down to 3 or 4 countries. When you start looking at taxes, health care services, food and shelter costs plus standard of living in south and central american countries, you see just how awful Canada treats its productive, tax paying citizens. Bonus : better weather and comparable or better crime rates than most big cities in Canada.

Having exited to the US, I now watch “Democratic Socialists” rise like shit in a toilet bowl. God help me, I’m getting to the point where I hope Trump will do everything the commies fear he will.
“Options” not opinions. The countries we’ve short listed are Ecuador, Panama, Uruguay/Paraguay. Ecuador being the top choice right now. A half dozen work acquaintances either are or have already relocated to Ecuador. They’ve been giving us advice and realistic expectations about living there.
We really won’t know for sure until we visit each country for an extended visit. I’ve grouped Uruguay and Paraguay together only because we will be combining that visit since they share a border. They are very different economically. Uruguay being quite European and developed while Paraguay is an up and comer with nice potential.
Thanks for that, LC. Friends have spent time in Ecuador and praise it. There is still occasional turmoil in the cities because of commie-agitated student protests – ostensibly over gas price hikes. But they weren’t at all affected out in the countryside.
There’s sone fair sized North American expat communities in parts of Ecuador. Sounds like the expat population is now growing through word of mouth.
My son Ben is in Paraguay for now, he’s said he may return to AB if we separate but he may be saying this as he knows it’s what I’d like to hear.
Paraguay is certainly a country that looks interesting. Definitely one we’re looking forward to visiting.
Uruguay is separated from Paraguay by a big slice of Argentina. They do not share a border. Did you also consider Costa Rica? It’s fairly high on my list.

Costa Rica is nice according to my parents and others we know. It was on our original list but the other 4 countries scored higher on our ratings for various reasons. I think Costa Rica would have been on our short list 10 years ago.
I’m 77. Like most here I would love to be out of this sheethole but have moved too much already, am exhausted and my wife is unwell.

BUT in my idle moments I think about South America.
Recently saw a YouTube clip by the essential Pesach Wolicki about the huge move toward conservatism in the region. Including other regions elsewhere there are about a dozen countries moving in this direction.
Oh, I should add that I’m also cynical enough to believe a move for political reasons is too often doomed.
We will be retired when we move and relatively young retirees. Not so much a move for political reasons but for a better quality of life. Plus, I doubt our adult children will stay in Canada given the economic decline, heavy taxation and erosion of democracy and freedom. I predict leaving Canada will become an accelerating trend for both the young and ambitious as well as retirees who can afford to relocate.
Historically, governments have been BY FAR the worst perpetrators of racism and sexism on the planet….they just do it under the guise of being “inclusive”. The amelioration clause in the Charter needs to be removed….it is nothing but government racism and sexism.
The Charter, and indeed our constitution writ large are a joke, befitting of a sinking third world shithole country like Canada.

I cut Ben Mulroney some slack here. Years ago Mr. Mulroney the Younger got ensnared in a kerfuffle between his wife and a black internet influencer, about what escapes me (see the above link). But since the influencer was black and Mrs. Mulroney was Jewish and a white Montreler, her contract jobs with CTV and other media were quickly dropped., The left-wing CTV cooled its relationship with Mulroney, and he saw the writing on the wall. He left CTV sometime after.
I would channel-surf on CTV back then, and found him extremely banal. But I give him credit for carving out a career as an apolitical entertainment journalist, in Canada’s broadcast world that prohibits conservative thought. They say a neoconservative is liberal who was mugged by reality. Mulroney and his wife were mugged, and perhaps that is why today, free from corrupt woke censorship, he speaks his mind.

As a pink and tan (freckles) conscripted member of the ORCCG (Oppressing Race, Colour, Creed, and Gender) I personally experienced this racism over 30 years ago during a long spell of unemployment. It was not just government jobs but also large private sector companies ‘going along to get along’.

The official government allowed racism clause can be found in section 15(2) of the constitution. As long as someone who looked like you in the past was discriminated against, the government can discriminate against whites and males, in order to correct that “injustice” even if you haven’t experienced discrimination.
