UN Carbon Tax: Dead In The Water

John Ʌ Konrad V;

I can’t share the details on how @michaelgwaltz & @SecRubio have, in just a few days, organized the greatest opposition to UN policy since the Cold War and blocked this UN Carbon Tax.

I can say it was a knife fight to the end.

“I’ve been in this industry for 30 years and I’ve never seen anything like it,” one shipping executive told me today. “You just don’t say NO to these guys. It’s unheard of.”

It’s unclear who “these guys” are, but I suspect the European families with shipping investments and net wealth that far exceeds Elon’s.

Absolutely none of the maritime experts I interviewed early this week thought the US could pull this off. Zero. Massive amounts of money, NGO influence, diplomatic threat and media manipulation were behind this… and the American media (except @gCaptain and Fox News) was dead silent.

And yet Trump did it.

“That Trump Truth Social post sent shockwaves through the building,” one UN delegate in London told me. “NOBODY expected it. The Secretary General @IMOSecGen looked like a deer in the headlights this morning.”

Incredible. Simply incredible work by team Trump and a massive blow to the European deep state who planned to use this tax as a slush fund to plug holes in US Aid funding for globalist NGOs.

Promises made. Promises kept!

    1. AMEN to that…………..and we in Canada are stuck with that stupid elbows up ex banker………what a mess we are in…….IMMIGRATION IS WAY OUT OF HAND……….

    2. “We will not tolerate…”
I voted for this president 3xs. This American Boomer taxpayer is not tired of WINNING! Globalist climate change pearl clutchers who embrace carbon taxes can anti-up voluntarily to the useless UN.

  1. This past year of The President’s second term have been some of the most amazing decisions and policy changes I’ve ever seen.
    Bravo Mr. President.

3 more years of this, and oh yes, I did see how VP Vance laughed in the press conference today when The President was speaking of not making a deal with Mr. Maduro from Venezuela. I think Vance is going to be the next President, and his laugh may be simply a reflection of time well spent in the Marines. He’s heard this sort of thing before…

  2. Leverage.
The United States is the only nation that has the ability to evict the UN from its building and from our shores.

  3. Just think, there’s still a bunch of Canadians that think we can continue the “elbows up” tough guy act with Trump and his team. How they must laugh at us.

    1. Those of us who are friends of Canada are sad. When Trump was first talking about tariffs Canada reacted with outrage, and a lot of us didn’t blame them. We had supposedly a USMCA – but then we found out about the dairy subsidies, a Vermonter told me that’s a contributing reason that a lot of dairy farms in northwest Vermont have turned into McMansions. But then Canadian liberals started to preen and say we couldn’t do anything without Canada.

So Trump, with his usual grating braggadocio, pointed out that economically Canada does not produce as much as California, and I think one other state as well. He was pointing out that Canada is not indispensable, that economically you count as much as one of our 50 states. He WAS NOT threatening Canada – ask the Iranians what he says when he’s fixing to attack a country. You could say he was pointing out that if a European company had to choose between angering a country that is economically smaller than California, or angering a country of which California is merely a large part, the small money will lose. Math doesn’t care that Canada is a really nice place.

And yes, as an old MoPar man the fact that Chrysler is now Stellantis is sad too. Hollowing out our Rust Belt was almost as stupid as letting the Left run education – or getting in a urinating contest with Canada. Many wish Trump was more diplomatic – but we couldn’t stay on our old path.

We in the United States above all are sick and tired of being taken. We’re sick of paying for the UN, paying for NATO, and sacrificing our farmers so that Canadians can continue to milk cows in French. Please stop using us for a political football – whether it’s the libs screaming about being indispensable or your head banker raising his elbows at us, whatever that means. (I know it’s somehow from hockey, Americans outside Minnesota or northern New England do not have a clue.) We wish we didn’t have Trump, but no other politician is willing to stand up to being called a racist and a National Socialist, and we are sick of politicians who hide when the Left gets nasty. Both sides of the border have to deal with Trump, let’s talk. There are millions of Americans who would like to see Canada succeed. It is not our wish to see the Republic of Alberta succeed, although we will help it and wish it well if it comes to that.

BTW – keep pushing Trump and you’re likely to hear him say “Vive le Quebec libre”. Don’t think he doesn’t know.

      1. Thanks for the kind thoughts FT, but we don’t deserve them. Thee is a lot more than supply management going on here in terms of non tariff barriers, from our telecom cartel through our banking cartel and so on, all benefitting about 10 or so businesses that comprise the “Laurentian Elite”.
Please don’t kid yourself, your country was going down our road through entitlements and mass immigration of less than desirable folks and woke culture run amok. Trump is like cancer surgery, hard to face but as necessary to put your republic back on an even keel. Canadians lack the courage to face the operation, and so the country will rot for a little while longer in palliative care, before succumbing.

        1. “Thanks for the kind thoughts FT, but we don’t deserve them.”

For sure….so much truth in one post can be hard to handle. Canadians have raised denial to an art form.

      2. A plurality of you said yes to Trump, so the “We” thing is a bit presumptuous. I agree with everything else you said.

  4. You can be sure Marx Carney was set up to profit from this given his role as scammer in chief in that now failed green banking alliance. What a two fer, screwed the globalists and kicked Carney where his balls would be if he had some.

  5. We appreciate you Foggytrucker^^^^
You need to stop apologizing for President Trump.
You are so lucky to have a leader like this great man.
Your country would be in civil war without President Trump, even though FILTHY LIBERALS think he is the worst.

Canada deserves everything we get and more. All we had to do was :
    ATTACK THE FENTANYL LABS
    SECURE THE BORDER
    DON’T CREATE COUNTER TARIFFS

Canada’s BRILLIANT Banker placed Extra Counter Tariffs, did nothing about Fentanyl, and left our border a mess.
    GOVERN ME HARDER DADDY!
    FILTHY LIBERALS

  6. A worldwide carbon shipping tax? Wouldn’t that HELP Trump’s repatriation of jobs from far flung shitholes like Chyynahhh and Nam? Make it more expensive to ship cheap crap from the far East?

Yes! Buy local … or pay the piper. Ohhhhhhh mommmaaaaa how “green” of the UN.

  7. Like all green initiatives, this one was intended to establish another slush fund to finance social re-organization and the destruction of the West; thereby punishing the most innovative, productive and successful citizens of the world.
The UN can always be depended upon to consistently and unflaggingly promote global-scale parasitism.
