      1. Keep in mind that electrical rates in the UK have risen much higher than in neighboring Europe, and Jaguar’s expertise has been in design, NOT reliability and I can’t see Jag lasting to the end of this decade.
Audi/VW Group and the rest of the continent which actually knows how to build cars is scaling back on EV production, are they aware of the coming tariff hikes likely in the US as well?

Good luck with the gay angle, I doubt it’ll work though any more than it did for Bud Lite.

          1. You can still buy a Honda with a V6 that will last you decades and hundreds of thousands of km. There are a few other options but less and less every year.

      2. I posted the horrible ad, but I wasn’t aware of the stupid logo change. Coke, Bud Lite anyone?

        1. Seriously, Jaguar has been overpriced CRAP for decades, unreliable and their long-standing garbage English electrical engineering problems have never gone away.
Jags last truly notable car was the XKE, and that was 50 years ago.
They’re on the path of Morris, British Leyland, etc. other automakers have sustained the brand because of the caché of ‘the name’. Land Rover isn’t too far behind in this regard, another overpriced pile of metal with time bomb motors.
          Eurotrash cars.

          1. Facepalm. Nobody counted on Jags as transportation. These for decades were enthusiast cars and were not bought for reliability but for occasional fun and weekend cruising. Unfortunately, after the last F-type leaves the factory, there will be nothing left to be enthusiastic about.

    1. So, insanity and a rock now are considered a car commercial. Folks, I really got nuthin on this, even the word stupid is not adequate.

  1. BREAKING:

The Chinese vessel Yi Peng 3 has been chased, intercepted, and boarded by Danish Navy vessel Y311 Søløven after the Chinese vessel destroyed 2 undersea telecom cables linking Finland-Germany and Sweden-Lithuania.

The vessel sailed from Russia & the captain is Russian

This is all early news, wait for confirmation before drawing conclusions.

  2. For 1,000 years, when European powers fought each other it was in Germany with some Germans on each side. The creation of a united Germany in 1870-1871 totally upset the balance of power as shown by the humiliation of France in the Franco-Prussian War. Germany was the most powerful and most homogeneous country in Europe. It was almost entirely ethnic German without showing any particular desire to conquer it’s neighbors until it fell into war as a consequence of it’s alliance with Austria and the 1914 aggression of France and Russia mobilizing their armies on Germany’s borders.

    1. IIRC the defence of one of the French generals charged with treason in the aftermath was
“Look at him! That is not a traitor. Merely a blunderer”.
Could be a useful line to try again?

    2. Gee, maybe France and Russia had a reason to mobilize, namely indications of an emerging threat.
Also, mobilization doesn’t mean an attack is necessarily coming by the armies mobilizing. It’s called “hope for the best but prepare for the worst.”

      1. Put a million soldiers on somebody’s border and expect them to cower in fear? You would have to be French or Russian.

          1. Everyone understands what you have written. it is just stupid as are the rest of your posts. Your problem is that you keep presenting your limitations as insight and demand to be noticed. You’re not among equals unless you’re talking to Freddie maybe.

          2. Yeah that’s better. Stick to primitive insults and don’t try to argue. Arguments are way above you. Don’t even try. You’re not build for that subhuman.

          3. On the contrary, arguments become me. It’s you who insults me when you can’t come up with an effective argument to counter my obvious brilliance.
            Ta, ta.

          4. Like I was saying, you’re too to limited to recognize your own limitations and thus you perceive your shortcomings as signs of brilliance. That is a common conditions among primitives.

          5. You do go on and on with the same old same old. Well, it’s better than your usual seething I guess.
            Czesc.

      2. Jessica really wants the stupid prize today, doesn’t he? Russian mobilization did not threaten Germany. It meant effectively that Germany had about three weeks to get the crisis resolved before the things got dangerous. If Germany had wanted peace, they had the clear chance to do it, and it was obviously possible. But they decided that they wanted Austria to have its war against Serbia, and having themselves decided on war, assumed that the Russians intended war too. This is why we take the notion of German war guilt seriously.

    1. My neighbours are still in shock. Nice people otherwise, but, their little snide comments we’ve endured for the last 3 years have disappeared, not even a hint of derision of ‘felon/mysoginist/etc’ that were a regular part of their convo.
      Schadenfreude.
The one thing thing that was said, right away, was their disbelief that Bad Orangeman won the election, to which I responded “well, they ran two terrible candidates, maybe next time run a better candidate”. That ended the discussion forthwith.

  3. The narrative is crumbling quickly:

An excerpt that all Canadian polticians should read:

“Since wind and solar power are costly, intermittent and more environmentally destructive per TWh generated than any other energy source, governments should cease to subsidize or to prioritize them, and should instead expand coal, gas and, above, all nuclear generation.”

    1. I see coal in the list. Alberta just converted it’s last coal plant to gas. The beauty of a coal plant is it is built beside a 50 to 100 year supply of coal with a predetermined cost for the coal. A gas fired plant is volatile with price of electricity highly dependent on the market price of gas. If you want to plan developing industry that relies on large amounts of electricity, coal is a fuel that provides needed stability.

    1. I would now call him an unemployed Minister, but the Lieberals always take care of their own, whether getting government contracts, an appointment or to head up some government-funded nonprofit group.

      The graft is endless.

  4. A late night czech story.

I SAID TO MY SON, “YOU’RE GOING TO MARRY THE GIRL I FIND FOR YOU.”
    HE REPLIED, “NO.”
I TOLD HIM, “SHE’S THE DAUGHTER OF BILL GATES.”
    HE REPLIED, “YES.”
I CALLED BILL GATES AND SAID, “I WANT YOUR DAUGHTER TO MARRY MY SON.
    BILL GATES REPLIED, “NO.”
I SAID TO BILL GATES, “MY SON IS THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD BANK.”
    BILL GATES REPLIED, “OK.”
I CALLED THE PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD BANK AND ASKED HIM TO MAKE MY SON VICE PRESIDENT.
    HE SAID, “NO.”
I TOLD HIM, “MY SON IS BILL GATES’ SON-IN-LAW.”
    HE REPLIED, “OK.”
