Cops Need A Safe Space

Otherwise they might actually have to, oh I don’t know, maybe arrest someone who actually deserves it for a change?

Sun- City votes to approve parking for police officers

Winnipeg police officers could soon take over one full floor of the Millenium Library parkade following a vote at city council Thursday.

Approval of the deal settles a longstanding grievance filed by the Winnipeg Police Association that alleged the city and Winnipeg Police Service are in breach of the employer’s duties to provide safe and secure parking for members.

In a submission to the city, WPA President Maurice Sabourin wrote that in the past few years, officers have been stabbed, knocked unconscious and nearly shot while walking back to their cars. Officers have also been threatened as Sabourin said criminal groups watch officers walk to their vehicles.

  1. “Nearly ” shot?

In any event, it’s obvious you guys are going to have to start packing iron 24/7 … or double down on your apologies and Community outreach. Yeah, that’ll work.

    1. Nope, if people are prohibited from carrying, then off duty cops should be equally prohibited. There is nothing special about being a cop, well maybe the low IQ and tendency for aggression qualify one as special. They can carry a whistle though.

      1. ” … well maybe the low IQ and tendency for aggression qualify one as special…”

Nope. Nothing special about that. Those behaviours are universal. I mean, just look at SDA. Keyboard commandos everywhere.

          1. Nahhh. Keyboard commandos aren’t the assaultive type. Their aggression is just snarling and snapping – when they’re not whining or puking. You know what I mean. They make me laugh.

          2. Yes I know, you’re making a lame artificial point while being confused about the meaning of the word “aggression”.

      2. Justin has told us that the Constitution does not give us a right to defend ourselves with a fire arm, Should this be any different when police are off duty? The right to defend yourself against a predator is a basic human right, whether that predator walks on two legs or four legs should be immaterial!

      3. You are apparently too stupid to understand that often the bad guys (gang members mostly) will take down the license plates of officers and then have someone search their address. You aren’t terribly bright.

        1. So? If threatened, off duty cops should then do, what they tell people who are threatened by criminals to do: call cops, blow whistle and soil themselves.

Criminals may threaten cops and non cops. Cops threaten non cops. Hence non cops are in greater danger than cops. No reason to give cops rights and privileges that, those whom cops and criminals threaten, do not enjoy.

And since when are cops not the “bad guys” to begin with?

  2. There used to be a time when you didn’t frig with off duty cops because they took their pistols home. In Canada today, not so much.

  3. Of course people who aren’t cops, do not enjoy those proivlidges. They are in danger of being assaulted by cops and are prohibited to defend themselves in general, especially defend from an assault by a cop.

    1. Oh take a hike, moron. In your case, I could see where a cop might assault you given your stupidity and attitude.

      1. Yes, clearly not being a cop fan is a sufficient reason to be assaulted by them.

What is your most favorite, best tasting, brand of jackboot polish?

  4. Be careful visiting the blood soaked streets of…..Maine, US.
Maine has barely zero gun ordinances.
    Carry. Conceal, open. Whatever.

I think bloody Vermont might be a scrunch more open. How, I don’t know.

  5. $20.00 a day x 300 days = $6,000 year perk for the little old lady mobility scooter stomping horse riding elite.

  6. With cops getting knocked unconscious I’m beginning to think that there’s a bit of a problem with criminals in Winnipeg. Perhaps we can freeze some more trucker’s bank accounts to clean this problem up.

    1. IKR, maybe also confiscate some guns from law abiding citizens? Cops love doing that, so even if it will not help the crime problem it will at least make cops feel better.

  7. Maybe the police could hire an unarmed security guard to escort the police to their cars.

Colleges and Universities seem to think that is adequate security.

    1. Whistles, just give them whistles. Also follow their own advice, when raped soil yourself and the attacker will likely leave.

        1. Never charged.
Assaulted and harassed by unaccountable thugs? Yes, on two continents.
I have never met a cop who I would discourage from removing asbestos wearing any protection they choose.

  8. This has got to be bogus. Threats, stabbings????

Never heard of such a thing.

I am sure the cops just seek a nice quiet heated underground parking lot for their own

  9. Next thing you know they’ll want Tim Horton’s giving them free donuts and coffee…
If I had an ounce of sympathy it would be yellow & steaming.
