Not just young workers. We’ve been actively looking at retiring outside of Canada since covid. We were looking at places like Uruguay, Paraguay but quite a few recently retired work colleagues have moved to Ecuador. We’ll be checking out that country and others starting next year. Other than family, why stay in Canada and get bled dry with excessive taxation, deal with substandard (yet expensive) healthcare/MAID and watch Canada continue to slide into an authoritarian kleptocracy? Since my spouse is not a Canadian citizen, the tax relief is substantial if we leave Canada.
Many years back Costa Rica attracted a lot of Canadian retirees (and non-retirees in the hospitality business) I believe.
