Yesterday was my dead son’s birthday. It’s a painful annual reminder of how our whole family misses him. I had just bought a nice re-engineered, re-issued, pressing of The Best of the Grateful Dead (music-5, sound-5). And the song Box of Rain really resonated with me for some random reason. The meaning is a bit melancholy.
No, I don’t believe in Ghosts … but I believe in the human spirit … and it’s almost as if my son was causing me to focus on this tune in remembrance of him. Yes, he was a musician and we traded music discoveries with each other.
When SS trials got well into the 2000s they were trying corporals and cooks just because they were there without any evidence they personally committed a crime. When all the senior officers and senior sergeants were dead they just couldn’t leave it alone and it became a clown show. There were close to a million SS and maybe 2/3 survived. They only tried 14,000 or so, yet at the end, they were trying geriatrics simply because they were SS.
