Just How Far Can Iranian Missiles Fly?

The following may be propaganda, so view it with healthy skepticism:

Here’s NATO Secretary, Mark Rutte, talking about the same.

If the Iranians really do have such long range capabilities, shouldn’t they be stopped? Asking for my European friends.

  1. It’s easy to say that the Yanks are doing it wrong when your own country has zero threat due to God’s gifts of geography.

  2. It has been postulated that the warhead mass was reduced or even removed to have a prayer of reaching Diego Garcia. They were propaganda weapons, just as likely to hit Gerry Garcia.

    1. “It has been postulated that the warhead mass was reduced or even removed to have a prayer of reaching Diego Garcia. They were propaganda weapons, just as likely to hit Gerry Garcia.”

For sure they were. I noticed that their recent crowing about hitting Tev Aviv failed to mention the fact that it caused a big crater *in the middle of the street*. They can hit Tel Aviv, yeah…they just don’t know where in Tel Aviv their missile will strike. Likewise for Diego Garcia: one missile was shot down, the other one failed on its own. Neither would have hit their actual target.

**And now Iran is denying that they even fired those missiles…claiming that Israel did it as a false flag’ operation(!). I guess they don’t cope with embarrassment very well.

      1. Load the warhead with radioactive material. It doesn’t have to hit anything in order to be deadly. As good as poison gas. Better in some ways.

        1. yep. my take on all this, given the number of missiles they may/claim to have, and given one really successful hit spells untold damage to someone, looks to me the only viable and correct response is to look at very square meter of lran and smash to pieces anything looking like it could be or become a missile or launch apparatus.
looking forward to additional X postings from the Donald on this.

  3. L – When the terrorists have moved within a Molotov cocktail toss from your house. You just might decide a once of prevention is better being cremated sooner or later, in your own home.

  4. Surprised they can reach Diego Garcia vicinity?
With all the other somewhat advanced weaponry and missiles they have, and their friendly relations with Chiner and North Korea, it is not surprise the range of their missiles is advanced too.
    Technology gets shared between them.
If that’s a surprise, I’ve got an old blue bridge for sale here in Victoria, give ya a sweet deal on it, slightly used.
All the other noise around this, lukewarm denial by Iran, conspiracy theory by TDS sufferers and never Trumpers? Just more nonsense from the same sources of stupidity.

    1. Sooooo … I’m no rocket scientist … but … doesn’t it simply take more fuel/larger booster to increase a missiles range? How hard would that be to scale up?

      1. When you scale things up, you run into the square-cube law. (Google it). It also explains why giant bugs you see in horror movies can’t exist.

      2. Better electronics, better sensors if you want to keep the same relative accuracy.

But how hard is hard, you could argue the us took 15 years from 1945 to 1959. But for all we know the brought electronics from 1 country, sensors from another and fuel and body from somebody else and built it in less then a year.

The technology exists and I am sure it can brought if you’re prepared to spend enough. I would think its much less likely they have been developing everything from scratch,

        1. A ballistic missile has no guidance, only a pre-determined trajectory. Nuclear warheads mean you do not need to be accurate. It requires more sophisticated systems to have in-flight course changes, then it becomes a guided missile. The Germans made great advances in this field during WWII.

  5. Huh? So the Diego Garcia missile strike is Trump’s “weapons of mass destruction” Lie. How convenient. The left have already tried to hoist the “Mission Accomplished” banner around Trump’s neck. I can’t wait for the Abu Ghraib photos to show up …

Geeze … what is it with the Far Left Democrat and Liberal Party’s? It’s like their go-to fraudulent sexual misconduct charges … de rigueur anytime they need to immediately destroy a strong conservative. So unimaginative. So boring.

At least the Russian collusion, stolen election nonsense was somewhat innovative and unique …

  6. If you can put satellites in orbit as Iran has, you can reach anyone. Their big issue at present seems to be accuracy.

The only question is the size of the payload, and a dirty bomb doesn’t have to be big, to instill terror.

    1. “If you can put satellites in orbit as Iran has, you can reach anyone. ”

      Yes. Reach, yes.

    2. “If you can put satellites in orbit as Iran has, you can reach anyone.”

Iran deserves to lose those satellites now.

  7. Well if they launch at London, it’s not like they are going to hit an Englishman.

  8. I’ve had it with all of these ‘experts’ telling us that somehow Trump didn’t know what he was doing when he started this! Everyone and their brother seems to know more than Trump does! Two things I’d like to explain to all of these ‘experts’. The first is that the French and British naval inspectors were on site when Germany, contrary to the Treaty of Versailles, built the biggest battleship in the world. Secondly the Americans and their western allies were dumfounded when Russia detonated their first atomic bomb in 1949. So all these ‘experts’ tell me that Trump started this ‘war’ for any number of reasons from narcissism, to cover the Epstein files, to taking orders from Israel, etc., etc., etc., No one has mentioned that the IAEC (International Atomic Energy Commission) had a meeting in Oman a couple of weeks or so before Trump launched this intervention. It couldn’t possibly be that something was learned in that meeting concerning Iran’s nuclear capabilities that was so threatening that Trump decided he had to act even though he would put his presidency on the line if things didn’t go well. If by his actions Trump loses the mid-terms he will face an immediate impeachment charge as threatened by the Democrats. So tell me ‘experts’ why would Trump take this road, unless there is a great deal at stake that we are all unaware of.

    1. ” No one has mentioned that the IAEC (International Atomic Energy Commission) had a meeting in Oman a couple of weeks or so before Trump launched this intervention. ”

      Couple of weeks?
The U.S. and Israel bombed Iran about 4 months or so ago.
That was a rehearsal to test the joint effort we see today.

  9. Assuming it’s a matter of Physics, can anyone explain why that range diagram doesn’t feature concentric circles?
Common sense says that if you want max. range you’d launch from the closest site to the intended target, but that doesn’t explain these non-concentric ovals.

    1. Probably because the map is a flattened depiction of a curved earth. Also, Iran, the starting point, isn’t a neat circle.

    2. Because they can be launched from anywhere in Iran, not just the central spot.

  10. …shouldn’t they be stopped?
    Why?
Since when is a nation obligated to disclose the capability of its weaponry. So it lied…bfd. Gov’ts lie about everything. When it comes to lying…the U.S. and Canada have it in spades.

Back to the nuclear side of things.
It’s common knowledge Israel has a nuclear weapon (likely swiped from the U.S.) and is quite adamant about not signing the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty along with those bastions of Democracy the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, India and South Sudan (I don’t get that either) . No one says Jack about that.
And for all of Canada’s moral preening one could argue and quite successfully I might add, that Canada with it’s Candu nuclear technology and our propensity for being halfwits naively aided and abetted India back in the late ’60’s for getting their hands on a nuclear button.
Remember how we were saving the world because everyone wanted our Candus ?? I sure do…my grade 7 teacher wouldn’t shut up about it. Nice going Canada.
As for Europe a brief perusal of Europe’s demographics assures me that there’ll be a phone call coming from inside the house real soon and there won’t be a lot the West can do about it. A nice little gift for all of our grandchildren. Ain’t we swell?
    There’s your worry right there.
Anyways. Mission Accomplished. Trump and Israel just bombed the living shit out of a Middle Eastern country…*Slow Clap* so what else in new? There’s already chatter about Turkey being in their crosshairs now.
A large portion of U.S. voters feel betrayed and rightfully so…Trump specifically promised on the campaign trail NoRegimeChange wars and he reneged on that promise. Full stop.
Midterms are coming and unless Trump somehow makes nice those voters they may say “Eff ’em all” and stay home.
Kind of a “scorched earth” approach you might say.

  11. You can use “maybe” to justify anything. Depends on the risks and costs of doing something about it. Or is the word “bad” enough all by itself?

  12. Remember too that Iran exported it’s missile technology to North Korea and probably others. If they did develop ICBMs the North Koreans would have had nuclear capable ICBMs.
