19 Replies to “Is Trump To Blame For Ridiculously High Gas Prices in Canada?”

  1. My cheap-est local gasoline at the COSTCO in little Mexico, aka Concord, CA sits at $5.05/gal. today. I last filled my tank there ~ 2 weeks ago and paid $4.19/gal. The price has spiked up $0.86/gal. … at the CHEAPEST gasoline around for 50 miles. Up 20%

Huh? Interesting isn’t it … that it’s reported that 20% of the world’s oil supply flows through the straits of Hormuz. Funny thing … NONE of the gasoline in COSTCO’s underground tanks flowed through the straits of Hormuz.

Yeah, yeah … but oil is a worldwide resource … yadda yadda yadda. Here’s a little test … when the tankers start moving through the straits again … let’s see how long it takes for gasoline prices to fall, eh? psssst … the day AFTER the 2026 election.

    1. so, your location is equivalent to CA1.839 per litre. In Calgary it’s averaging CA$1.489 per litre or US$4.239ugl.

AAA says US national average about US$3.719ugl or CA$1.359 per litre.

But I do have little sympathy for Lower Mainland BC and Vancouver Island dwellers suffering with prices over CA$2 per litre. That’s approximately US$5.590ugl. They did the chanting and the dancing. They get what they cried for.

      1. There are many BIG OIL corporate stations here in the Bay Area that are well-above the $6.00/gal. price point.

I picked a bad time to drive a moving truck and trailer across the USA to relocate my daughter OUT of CA. The good news is that the gasoline price falls $2.50 – $3.00/gal. at the CA border.

        1. The other good news is that she escaped. From here on we’re calling you Kurt Russell.

          1. Still breathing … but I am waiting for some militant LGBTQueerio to spray my front room with drive-by bullets any day now.

Watch the news for the story … because the perp will be identified, as literally every house on my block has state of the art camera systems. And my town has traffic cams at every intersection in and out of town.

      2. Grok says the take here in Whacktoria is about 40 cents per litre in various taxes, sales, transit, GST, excise, etc
Plus, about 50% of the fuel here is from Cherry Pt WA. Exchange rate in play too.
Hint, I didn’t do the song and dance for those prices, though there are far too many here that do. They would just Virtue Signal their EV at you. They’ll be first in line for the Chinese self-immolating 4 wheeled wonders when they show up too.
That all said, this has been a discussion since I was a kid. Why are our prices so high if we are self-sufficient?
Because, the producers would sell to China instead, if they were “told” to sell cheaper nationally. Then we would really be pooched.
That’s what Europe and Chiner are now facing. That’s why they’ve been voluntold by POTUS to monitor the strait. It’s their problem, not his.

    2. They own it, you need it. They can charge whatever they want until people decide that they won’t pay it, or someone else offers to sell it at a lower price in the hope of getting more customers. The free market is a wonderful thing, at least compared to the alternatives.

  2. I’m sure your high gas taxes and retarded energy policies have nothing to do with it.

  3. Yes, the price of fuel in Canada is due to government. Marx Carnage, politicians and bureaucrats are getting hairy palms watching the price rise.

The federal government declared war on the oil and gas industry in 1979. I imagine the giggles over at Finance were something like: “So, I told Joe and John (Crosbie) that adding a tax of twenty-five cents to a gallon (real gallons not those puny US ones) of gasoline will make the country energy independent! And, they fell for it!”
Of course the legacy media, with no independent media to counteract it, was outraged. The “hero” Lieberals voted against the budget bringing down the evil PCs. Shortly afterwards, Pierre Trudeau and Allan MacEachen with a majority levied the same tax at thirty-five cents per gallon. But then mandated the Euroweeniefication of Kanada requirement of selling gasoline by the litre right away so the (future) “Elbows Up!” retards wouldn’t realise how bad everyone was getting screwed. Instead of gasoline going from 95.9 cents per gallon up to 130.9 cents it became (not 28.9 cents per litre but) 35.9 cents per litre. Changing pumps from gallons to litres, etc. had a cost as well.
Shortly afterwards, Pierre and Marc went on to further attack Alberta with the National Energy Program.

Despite having a huge supply of oil, Kanada is oil poor. Building a refinery is severely hampered by regulation. Co-op managed to build one twenty years ago but has any new ones been started? None that I know of.

Yes, we should be paying only 85.9 cents per litre even with oil at over US$100 per barrel. But no, we have to outsource most refining. Greedy governments tax fuel, not to maintain transportation infrastructure but to set up “green” money laundering and kick-back schemes.

Unfortunately, the “Elbows Up!” retards never figured it out. Soon, you will run into one that will blame President Trump for the Great Depression.

    1. I forgot to mention, when Pierre and Allan put the 35 cent per gallon tax on, there was rejoicing everywhere, according to the legacy media.
Oh, and by-the-way, the tax is now 45.5 cents per gallon

  4. Costco in Ottawa today is C$1.599 per Liter, @ 3.785 L/G it is C$6.052 per G, at today’s conversion is US$4.42. I am surprised that our price is not comparably higher, but then Cali is as stupid as Canada.
Noted on the drive home that the local Esso is 7 cents higher per liter.

  5. “Trump knows he’s doing this” but “Biden doesn’t control gas prices” I’m sure.

  6. Carney Liberals won’t support the Iran war because there are very few opportunities to money launder in Iran, not like Ukraine.

  7. Burlington…..C$1.679 . We can thank the elbows up clowns for no energy east , industrial carbon tax , green energy scams , just to name a few . But it’s all on Trump …..

  8. Trump responsible for all the taxes on our fuel?
    Absolutely.
Just ask any Chicken dancing Liberal.
Evil Orange Man,with his time machine..yeah Bad Orange Man done it.

We need to display the cost per litre at the pump..
    Cost of oil.
    Cost to refine.
    Cost to transport.
    TAXES.

Of course in Can Ahh Duh,to do so is “Misinformation” and “Hate Speech”.

  9. Another reason why Canadians are as dumb as a bag of hockey pucks at an outdoor rink in Saskatchewan in January. We let Doofus Trudeau I and II dictate our oil policy and we’ve been paying through the nose for over fifty years. Look at the oil producing states in the middle-East, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Dubai, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Iran and compare their standard of living of today to where they were in 1945. Did our standard of living measure up to theirs in the same period of time? We import oil from these states and have been ever since Trudeau Sr. brought in his National Energy Act. Now we’re importing LNG from Australia because Trudeau Jr. couldn’t see the market for LNG in Europe and didn’t want the oil going to the Far East so he introduced the tanker ban on the West Coast. Like I said dumb as a bag of hockey pucks.
