Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
The US Coast Guard is part of the Department of Homeland Security. DHS Secretary Noem will be sending a bill itemizing rescue costs to elbows up Ontario Premier Ford or elbows up PM Carney. Sure those officials don’t want to be in debt to OrangeMan
Despite all the recent political bad blood between our two countries, I’m glad the the U.S. Coast Guard could lend a hand and that no one was hurt.
Normal people are carrying on life as usual while our “betters” sort out their hissy fits.
Well said.
Some humans are human, and some are not.
Normal people can see the difference.
Be the difference, when you can.
The others (“betters” )attend WEF and whatever gets them through the night.
Pay attention to the normal people, and be one.
Oh the irony is delicious. LOL
It gets better.
The Commander of the CG Helicopter was a woman, Lt. Christina Silva.
Canadian government unable to defend citizens against ice…LOL.
It’s not a fair comparison. The US Coast Guard has actual ships.
Wait! Doesn’t David Suzuki constantly monitor the thickness (thinness) of every ice floe in Canada? Doesn’t he broadcast daily WARNINGS that the ice is rapidly thinning due to the sinful driving of gasoline powered 4-wheelers driving on the ice?
Shouldn’t these scofflaws KNOW the ice is too thin to support their capitalist sporting lifestyle? The noble, wise, and peaceful FN’s wilderness guides fashioned speed skate runners from Birch trees and would glide effortlessly across the thinning ice. They were one WITH nature … not AGAINST it with a noisy, filthy, motorized vehicle of death.
The gist of the story, if I got it right, is that since Canada can’t rescue it’s citizens, it makes up for it by fining their sorry butts for supposed environmental tresspasses.
$30k … on your federal income tax bill. At least that’s in silly, plastic, Canadian dollars.
Getting that four-wheeler out of the lake, if it goes down, is probably a $2500 + retrieval.
L – Canada is not a serious country. It’s a post nation-state, a failed in the making. Wealthy in resources is Canada, but poor in spirit
Fortunately, those who want their children to live in a self-governing, free and prosperous and Independent nation-state have an option. The price our ancestors paid for this, our inheritance, was blood, sweat, tears, toil and sacrifice. All they asked for was an opportunity. The call to adventure still echos from the mountains to the prairies in the whispering wind.
To be continued…
It’s almost a Great Lake. Cross border rescues in the Great Lakes are likely very common both ways.
I live 5 minutes from Lake Huron, 30 minutes from the border and an hour from Lake St Clair , seeing a Canadian rescue chopper , or rescue plane through my life has been a surprise. The American Coast Guard chopper however is a common site especially in the summer flying along the St Clair River.
Search and rescue near the border is coordinated between the 2 countries. Politics doesn’t enter into it, whomever is closest gets tasked. Some operations are event combined. There have been plenty of Americans rescued by Canadian assests over the years. Look up 103 Sqn over in Gander if you want inspiring stories of hair-raising rescues by heroes you’ve never heard of.
Where talking about the border. The Americans have a copter 15 mins out Canada’s is 450 km away. We have a coast guard station and a boat. If we are going to keep away from the Imperialists I guess Carney better invest in a rescue chopper or two.
