Yesterday, I had a long conversation with a fellow in Vancouver. He’s not a dummy and is very well versed with what’s going on in the world. But he also has an unhealthy TDS infection, though it’s not extreme. He went off on a few rants that I wanted to run by all of you, under the premise of “What would you have said?”
The first focused on what is happening in Minneapolis. He insisted that the violence and deaths we’ve seen are entirely Trump’s fault, due to his inflammatory rhetoric. I conceded that I don’t always like the way Trump phrases things, but added that I do prefer his direct, plain spoken approach to the mealy mouth mumbo jumbo of people like Carney. He didn’t disagree with this. I also added that I strongly believe that what we’re seeing in Minnesota is carefully orchestrated by the DNC and global elites above them, all to do with winning the midterms this November.
We segued into talking about deportations under Obama. There were many more and there were no protests. I reiterated my argument above. He insisted that it was due to Obama’s quiet soft spoken approach and that he didn’t use ICE to do it. I’ve since researched his last point and it’s absolutely false.
He then moved onto a rant about Trump’s children. He took me down the path of conceding that Joe & Hunter Biden were both corrupt. Then he pivoted and said, “So I’ve admitted that the Bidens were corrupt. Thus you must agree that Trump’s kids are stealing millions?!” I was honestly confused by this and asked him to share some examples. He told me that he’s not going to do my research for me. So I did some, here and here. There are lots of allegations, but no convictions. If there was actually something there, would not the corrupt legacy media, who clearly hates Trump, be smearing his children 24/7 ?
In summary, I generally don’t trust any politicians without question. I don’t put Trump, or any other right-of-centre politician on a pedestal. But if you’re going to state something unequivocally as a fact, you absolutely need to bring facts from credible sources along with such statements. I’m sincerely interested to learn how you handle such conversations in your life.
One thing I point out is that I don’t barter facts. When someone says, “If I accept x you have to accept y” I simply point out that that is completely irrational. Where would that lead? “I’ll give you two Elvis sightings in exchange for one Kennedy assassination theory.”? Ridiculous.

Using only Vancouver as an example, the changes that have occurred in it since 1980 until now are not positive. But my friend somehow feels that if he avoids have “extreme” views (his words), then all will get better. This has never been true. I tried Scott Adams’ suggestion recently with an 87 year old man who gets ALL his news from the MSM and his cronies at the “home”. When he said everything Trump did was wrong and awful, I asked for just one specific example. He sputtered and spluttered and finally said Trump saying bad things about Biden was wrong. I said there was video of Biden bragging about threatening and extorting the Ukrainians to fire a prosecutor, and he quickly cut me off. Then he tried the Hunter Biden laptop story and again I tried to say it was factually provable. Again, he refused to hear. Next he tried by saying tariffs were bad for Americans, and when I asked in what way specifically, he just got quite annoyed with me, so I changed the subject. Since then, he has not brought up the Orange Man Bad subject with me. That suits me fine.

How any rational person can blame Trump for organized, armed protestors attacking members of Federal Law Enforcement enforcing laws that have long been in place, and which were put in place by the US Congress is incomprehensible, but that is the nature of Groupthink. There is a large divergence in rationality between cities and rural areas, and I suspect that the more urban an area, the more forgiving life is of ignorance and irrationality. The rats are also closer together and seem therefore to place a higher value on political conformity and the need to hold the same beliefs as the other rats, regardless the rationality of those beliefs. There is also a recent trend in Western culture to elevate “beliefs” to a level equivalent to “facts”, because facts which negate some beliefs are somehow offensive. That trend is simply devolutionary and represents society unnecessarily tolerating ignorance.
If one believes and behaves irrationally (on the basis of unjustifiable beliefs) out here in rural snow country, it can cost you your life. Do that in downtown Denver and there will merely be another bus along in 15 minutes to pick you up.

My now ex gf of 3 years called me awhile back after having dinner with some friends of whom a few are now ex friends.
Apparently she and and they felt that my rational arguments against their tds was beyond the pale and that I was to be excommunicated from the church of tds.
