Three men arrested after what police alleged was an extortion-related shooting in Surrey over the weekend have been charged, and authorities have released their photos in an attempt to further the investigation.

All three are foreign nationals and have been reported to Canada Border Services Agency, according to the Surrey Police Service—which deferred any inquiries about the trio’s immigration status to federal officials.

Twenty-one-year-old Harjot Singh, 19-year-old Taranveer Singh, and 21-year-old Dayajeet Singh Billing have each been charged with one count of discharging a firearm into a place, a Monday statement from police said.

Surrey “used” to be nice. Our parents purchased a raw piece of property in South Surrey, on the border with White Rock, just east of Crescent Beach (Mom used the Safeway to shop). This was back in 1975. They developed the property and built their retirement house to which they moved in 1982. Lived there for 25 years and were very happy but did notice that there were more and more young South Asian “princes” who liked to race their cars down the streets and the “princes” would always come to grief on the steep North south streets and would crash their cars – especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Mom and Dad said that you learned to avoid certain areas because of the accidents in case you ended up being a victim as well.

The Dollarama near my Sister’s house in NE Calgary was set on fire for similar reasons. Edmonton has at least 9 or 10 tow truck companies extorting drivers for double or more for cost of tow. Guess how many have the last name Singh? (If you guess all of them you’d be right).
