Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Its almost easier to manage a horse and buggy, logistics wise, than it is to manage an EV; where and when to charge it, where to park it, etc. 100+ years of the automobile and we are right back to square one again (electric cars were among the first powered cars)..
Just saw photos of the latest dump of snow in Toronto, leaving thousands of cars marooned on city streets. If they can’t get the streets cleared promptly, what do EV owners do when their battery runs down from being parked too long away from any charging source?
Set them on fire to melt the snow?
Short version:
The car you purchased for both necessity and convenience. Yeah, we need you to accomodate everyone else’s necessity and convenience.
Oh, and don’t worry about the history of fires from EV’s. Go ahead and charge that baby up when you’re sleeping.
Sincerely,
Everyone else but you
“I love my EV but I didn’t realize my life would revolve around recharging it.”
(Someone here posted that recently [quoting from an article he read]. I liked it so much I saved it.)
I saw that, too, and it made me laugh like hell.
BTW, look at the 2 dimensional graphic that NL Hydro used in that “community bulletin.”
Kindergarten much?
That someone was me:
“That someone was me:”
Quoting from a CBC article, of all things…

I have a tip! Don’t buy an EV in the first place. Problem solved.
That’s what happens when the Muskrat Falls. And BTW I thought NL had a near infinite amount of power after their $13.5 billion “investment” into hydro electric power?
when its all and only EVs, every minute will be peak demand.
the crypto transactions will snatch every spare scrap of wattage on top of that.
and pollution? worse from mining rare earths and tossing plastic etc
Government makes policies with no thought as to what effect any will have. Facts and figures to support the policies are always pulled out of some “expert’s” ass.
To see this in action, read any copy of the Canada Gazette II. Every justification is a head shaker.
I finally figured out 2 words for the “EV” acronym…
Enervating Vehicles.
The goal is total control of your life by a core of elitists, propped up by large corporations – the WEF public private partnerships. You will live in a 15 minutes city, take public transport and own nothing, living in an apartment owned by the state, given just enough to survive, weak enough not to riot or create disruption but strong enough to do menial tasks, and pumped media lies 24/7/365. Your children will be indoctrinated with the same lies, and anyone that resists will be publicly removed and quietly slaughtered. All of this so that said elites may live in the lap of luxury, losing touch more and more with reality until the system collapses under its own weight and they turn on each other.
They believe that they will save humanity and themselves, but in the end, they will become the 4 horses of the apocalypse. And it all turns on the definition of truth and morality which Canada has misplaced and is being driven further from each day. Believe a lie, become a slave to the lie.
Codex.
Well said.
However, the flaw in your and their argument is this.
“weak but strong enough to do the menial tasks.” Tell that to the real toxic men they need to restore power lines in an Arctic vortex event.
They are strong enough to maybe not “riot” or “create disruption” ( your words)… but “strong enough” to do the NOT “menial” tasks that keep our motor running, despite being disparaged.
They do it for their children and granny, despite it all.
Let this comment sink in, and thank a lineman for the county.
Have a nice day and strive for context.
You give them too much credit. They only want to save themselves.
Shocking…
Feudalism. Hasn’t that been tried before?
Hasn’t ended, or did you not notice being still outside the gates?
They won’t let us in. Standards or something.
Serf’s up!
Does anyone else find this remarkably similar to the “ration stamp” process used during WW2? As it is now, it is a plea and a suggestion. But, with all government intervention, it becomes a mandate. The electrical grid is, obviously, insufficient to accomodate the demands we place on it. Were EV sales actually to take off, the electrical grid would be even worse off. At that point there would be legislative intervention.
Assigned charging days/ times for registered EV owners. Specific limits on kwh. Transfer of the “gasoline tax” to a specific new electrical tax to upgrade grids. A new separate tax to EV owners to maintain roadways. The set up for this began nearly a decade ago when the Electric companies switched to signal monitoring instead of meter readers. They can have instant real time access to your power usage. Some states have direct access to this real time data and are actually controlling how high you can set your airconditioner in the summer through real time monitoring.
Obviously, this is a control mechanism, and a way for government to invoke their Climate Change ideology without actual concensus. It’s, also, a way to place the heavy lifting on the consume for their dereliction of consequence to the EV agenda they’re pushing.
Unless there is a large build out of generating capacity, every EV will will have a ration of 3.5kW available between the hours of 2300 and 0600, but nothing else may operate at that time. No industry, no internet, no clocks, nothing else.
My Nat. Gas supply has NEVER been cut-off, nor been throttled. However, I have routine power outages … usually due to PG&E’s deliberate deferred maintenance. I heat my home with Nat. Gas which would be 100% fabulous … if PG&E didn’t charge far above the National average cost. If PG&E didn’t PUNISH me for burning Nat. Gas in my 95% efficient furnace and water heater.
FILTHY LIBERALS
When will this climate change stop?
Welcome to Marxist Kanada.
We have rationed “Healthcare”
Closed small town ER’s to force people into cities
Closed all independent Gas stations. In the 80’s we had 12 stations within 10 minutes. Now we have to drive to town 20 minutes.
I hope the Monroe Doctrine gets applied to the Carney Regime. We deserve the wrath of the USA with our behaviour towards them.
Apologies to all Americans as our British overlords direct Carney to oppose President Trump
I almost look forward to the day when everyone has an EV and they all plug them in when they get home. All alternatives, i.e. wood, gas, oil, coal, sources of heat are banned and only electricity remains. It’s winter, -30C outside and there is no wind or sun. Everything is electric and no new power stations were built.
Power goes down. This will happen much sooner than expected, see Spain last year.
According to google Newfoundland and Labrador has 1700 electric vehicles. And, they have to ask owners to ration their charging!
On the street where I live there are about 200 cars(short street) and it’s minus 20. I guess we’d all be lucky to get a kilometer or two before having to recharge again.
