  1. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re not supposed to lose your mind when someone disagrees with you? What kind of horseshit is that?

    1. I’m sure many of us mourn the demise of reasoned debate, a bit of humor and agreeing to disagree without unhinged rage. Not sure how that changed so quickly or why but here we are, stuck in an escalating loop where the craziest loons dominate the conversation.

      1. This seems true of all social media. The strident voices drive out the moderate ones. There are some topics that you know just tipping your toe in the pool will attract a feeding frenzy.

      2. Come now, have I ever dominated a conversation? Yet I’m sure you’ll agree they don’t come much loonier than me.

  2. So wait … Dick. You’re happy that your PM renegotiated a punishing tariff imposed by the ChiComs on YOUR main product – Canola … but your PM still cries “elbows up” against your largest trading partner and nearest neighbor … and refuses to change behavior to stop those BadOrangeMan tariffs?

And didn’t your PM declare that Canada needed to find NEW trading partners to replace those who used tariffs as punishment for Canadian policies? Shouldn’t you and your PM be looking for NEW countries to purchase your Canola? Why is Carney barker crawling on his knee pads to Communist China? He’s not walking his talk. In fact he’s not walking at all.

But it’s OK Dick. Self interest doesn’t make you a dick. It’s human nature, and it’s normal. Even when the BadORANGEman behaves in America’s own self-interest … it doesn’t make him a dick … or anything other than – human.

      1. I must admit … I’m still trying to work out the meaning of your screen name?

        slater /slā′tər/
        noun
        1. One employed to lay slate surfaces, as on roofs.
        2. One who lays slates, or whose occupation is to slate buildings.
        3. Any terrestrial isopod crustacean of the genus Porcellio and allied genera; a sow bug.

          1. So that’s pretty much your ‘porn name’ … your favorite pets name and best street you lived on.

            Mine’s: Schatzi Elmhurst.

          2. If we’re doing name and street, that would make me, back in Ontario…
George (middle name) of Premier (lake Nippissing road in North Bay, Ontario).
Premier George. I like it. I even had a Dominion of Canada flag back then.
Then Pierson made a new flag on Feb 15, 1965 (I recall), which is my birthday.
Pisses me of to this day, being deposed Premier George in the BC hills of my discontent.

  3. I completely understand why Canada wants to deal with China: a majority of Canadians love subjugation and admire their basic dictatorship. They want us to be just like them when we grow up.

    1. that is because the majority of Canadians are blunt sheep, and also why I am a misanthrope who avoids said sheep to the extent that I am able to.

  4. He’s not wrong about the difference between trading and a strategic partnership, but in my opinion, for a right winger, he’s still definitely too soft on Carney & Moe.

There could be something lost in translation though as well, as I’ve personally never found his comedy funny.

    1. Sorry QDM, I unsubscribed back when you were pushing the jabs.

This. In spades. Haven’t been back since, never will. Some sins are unforgivable.

    1. I’m a dick fan. Wait. That didn’t come out right. I’m pretty much ONLY a fan of my own member. No one else’s.

  5. I thought the tariffs on Chinese EV’s were put in place to protect the Canadian EV battery market that Trudeau gave Volkswagen $14B to build? I never heard they did it to protect the US EV market. I’m thinking he really is a dick…

  6. Fantastic!!! All the planets are aligned in Dick’s universe – China is back to buying Canola and other ag products. Good news for the West.
As far as China flooding the market with cheap ass EV’s at the expense of Ontario auto workers? Easy…”don’t buy them”. Problem solved. Mark has our backs .
Wow…that’s the type of Made in Saskatchewan, folksy common sense we so desperately need these days. Haven’t seen that since the Lake Wobegon days.
We’ll call it “I’ve got mine Jack…the rest of ya’ll can FO”.
As far as poking our friends to the South in the eye. *Ahem* “Good fences makes good neighbours” or some such. So take that Donnie.

  7. If you want to nuance the finer points of trade.. okay, but the fact that Carney went and sold out Canada`s sovereignty to the Chinese communist party for some Chinese government spy cars, I would expect that you`d want to see him hanging from a lamp post in Ottawa.

MAID went from simply murdering Canadians to China organ harvesting 2.0

  8. I think we’re going to see a lot more of this at time goes by; the new right, which views everything through an extaordinarily partisan lens, versus old time conservatives who evaluate each event primarily for what it is rather than what parties are involved.

  9. The simple fact of the matter is that currently there are just short of 2 Million Chinese immigrants living in Canada. Most are in Ontario and, also, the Vancouver area. That’s just under 5% of Canada’s entire population. On paper, it makes sense that there be a relationship between Canada and China. And, while I understand Dick’s point of view, in today’s world it’s prudent to try and determine the primary basis for China’s interest in increasing trade with Canada, and vice versa. Looking only at the present and the immediate future is a mistake with a country that does everything long term.

I still think China’s primary basis is long term. I believe (as they have done in Norway) they hope to create a dependency in Canada for their wares. Their goal being to put Canada in a position where should a significant trade disagreement occur, Canada would at a loss to weather such a hiccup. Manufacturing in Canada is lower than it should be. So, how do you negotiate out of a place that becomes a “must need” basis? Well, you end up having to put up other things on the table (energy resources, and more specifically your claim on the resources of the Arctic). That is what I believe China is after. This is telegraphed in a number of ways. The most recent being the massive increase of Chinese immigrants taking residence on Prince Edward Island. If you’re an immigrant arriving in Canada, that’s one of the last places you are going to go to in finding a home. But, it happens to be one of the best sea lane starting points to go north up past Greenland into the Arctic claims. I think the vetting results on Chinese immigrants up in that part of Canada would be very, very interesting.

    1. L – + + + , The Trump administration is well aware of the Chinese Imperial plans; these both for their growing submarine fleet and a significant number of ice breakers, though China has no Arctic land mass. Whether known by the more common term Hybrid Warfare or by way of their military strategy ‘Unrestricted Warfare’. At this point Canada is a weakening link in the NORAD Treaty…

Pres. Donald Trump Administration is to set the foundation for America’s manufacturing to be economically superior. This so it can support a military strong enough to dissuade China from economic confrontation going military and possibly kinetic. It’s a 21st Century plan for following administrations to see to completion.
